Shiny new thread just in time for the new season - I'm thinking smoky, spicy gourmands as we head through autumn.

Old thread here

I really love blue talisman (both version) and very pls to know how much it’s in all AC so am waiting for a bargain bottle.

@Fillybuster I like Fico D’india by Oritigia (sp?), but not a figgy fig. But if you are early, get samples or travels sizes as once you start, it’s hard to stop!

SOTD Turn the page flora danica.

MiaN · 06/09/2026 08:09

What do you think about turn the page? I use it more as date night scent. It reminds me of old favourite no longer available and my husband really loves it too. I bought full bottle

IDontHateRainbows · 06/09/2026 08:11

Sunny side up by jhag today. Not usually a jhag fan but bought a mini of this in Cabot circus HN a while Back. It's pleasant, sandalwoody, ok but nothing special.

The bar is set high these days.

Ooh which advent calendar? Although if not one im getting hopefully plenty on vinted

Skins

They ship to Ireland but not the UK though.
Theres a lot of perfume in it. Rest are travelsizes though between 5ml and 10ml.

Bal Dafrique, Blue Talisan Extrait, Jhag x Skins (love this one. Not fond of other JHAG so far), Athenais, Crystal Saffron and some others.

Yes it is indeed more of a rich sweet one. I'm mourning the running out of the bottle i got on my birthday.

Give this a sniff if you come across it, some day is similar. Not available in Ireland unfortunately. They duped angels share. Wouldn't mind good figue érotique dupe!

Lurkingshark · 06/09/2026 08:47

That Skins calendar looks great but only cos I like most of those and the selection of beauty stuff.

@MiaN I like I turn the Page but it is full on. I put it on for an office day once which was a bit OTT. Best way to describe it is a niche version of a designer fragrance- with some familiar floral/sweet but it’s something different underneath it. Just read that some ppl compare it to Goddess by Burberry so that tracks.

paristotokyo · 06/09/2026 09:14

@MiaNI had turn the page but I sold it on as it just didn’t suit me. There was something about it that turned me off, maybe the jasmine/freesia combo as I dislike most white florals. Glad it works for you though! I love finding date night scents.

HolidayHattie · 06/09/2026 09:39

I'm sure I have Turn the Page somewhere but don't know where. Does anyone remember which edit or FAC it was in?

Its very personal. If you dont like too much perfume its not an advent for you. There also seems to be a bit of a heavy masculin side to some.

I will purchase it and get rid of the stuff that I dont want. I think its worth it if you really like the Fig full size bottle

Liberty winter kit.

I said it before - at some point between 2005 and 2010 I discovered Jadore, Alien and now discontinued Midnight Rain by Praire - all on family holiday in Lanzarote, at happiest times of my life. I continued using those 3 mostly exclusively with few temporary no repurchase perfumes in between until end of 2019. I don't want to wear Jadore or Alien anymore and I have made myself memory box - with scents I can return to when I want to sniff them and think about the good old times. I couldn't find Midnight Rain so I was delighted to find Turn the page and part of it went in with the others in the memory box. I never figured out if I would like it if I didn't connect it with such happy part of my life.

however - from current scents I find it most like mon guerliain. They both have somewhat classy night time vibe to me.

That's tip for any new perfume collectors - if you have a scent that you no longer like, but did so for yeas do a little memory box. Or scent you wear on big event such as wedding. You may not like it now - but it is lovely to sniff a happy scent from the past.

MiaN · 06/09/2026 10:21

I do still wear turn the page, not often but I do. I don't Jadore or Alien.

I had the opposite experience last year. Someone was trying to push me out of my job, evil boss, and I bought prada paradoxe radical essence around that time. One of those experiences where at the time you think you are being paranoid and things aren't adding up but only in hindsight do you work it out.
Very luckily her evil plan was foiled and i stayed, she left but I cannot smell that perfume now without remembering the anxiety and confusion. I call it eau de fear!

That’s a lovely idea @MiaN 💜 I don’t think dh would cope with me parking sunflowers in a box (I put up with it because it honestly makes him so happy when he smells it on me!) but it’s a great suggestion for some of the others like the Lancôme, which simply don’t match where I am in life now but I wouldn’t want to throw them out.

TragicMuse · 06/09/2026 12:14

My husband doesn’t really have a strong sense of smell so date night scent isn’t really a thing for us. So scent is aaalllllll just for me!

I hadn’t decided what I was going for today but it’s the day before college for my teen, I’m cooking some of their favourite comforting and familiar food. So I think I will wear the one they like best. Which is La Prairie Life Threads Platinum.

I wore it in the early years of adoption so it’s what they most strongly associate with me becoming and being mummy.

It’s sadly disconned and I have half a bottle left…

IDontHateRainbows · 06/09/2026 12:22

Trying d'orsay vanilla affair which came in the liberty men's kit. This is a lovely vanilla with a touch of tobacco. I went through a vanilla phase last year and then moved on but this is a nice throwback to that era.

I'm wearing Penhaligon's Vra Vra Vroom. It was a sample with some Halfeti and I'm not sure. It's supposed to have notes of apricot, osmanthus and leather. I like it but it's not going to be a purchase.

The description says "Spritz your way to success. Nothing shall stop one now." Which feels like a lot of pressure for a Sunday.

IDontHateRainbows · 06/09/2026 15:46

Trying a few today cos bored/ at home. Really enjoying DS Durga Debaser in bloom. A suprise win as I'd gone off original debaser and I'm not massively into floral but loving this. Can still smell fig underneath.

Got the 5x 2ml small sample deal on cult beauty so 10ml in total for £9 (£5 + postage)

Today, for first time ever a stranger asked me what do I smell like and that is amazing scent! Eight and Bob il giardino dell'Anima is successful close to blind buy - I had a sniff few times before but didn't test on skin or remember much. I am still not 100% on the initial spray but pleased with it just 5 minutes later.

I have had compliments by friends, who would give me a hug or someone very very very close to me in an elevator but never stranger. It is stronger/sweeter then my usual type

tretaddict · 06/09/2026 17:13

I’ve just blind ordered Ghost Sunday Dream
hoping I like it!

enjoying balmain destin again - hard to describe but it's a little sweet a little woody and a little fruity
Not tried balmain before they have not really promoted themselves as a house -think they are in a few ACs this year so maybe they realised that's the way forward.

I was in Brown Thomas today and most randomly I was given 3 samples of that - I think there are 2 versions? I am going to try it next few days.

MiaN · 06/09/2026 18:24

Malin Goetz Strawberry to set up for more clean & restful night. I love this

ZeppelinTits · 06/09/2026 18:32

Thanks for the new thread, popping back in again to re join you all. Today I’m wearing Chelsea Morning by Lush, a lovely warm and summery lemon and butterscotch scent. It’s got okay staying power and the dry down is really nice, a kind of understated toffee gourmand but not too sickly. I wear the solid perfume over the spray to make it last longer which works well.

MiaN · 06/09/2026 19:01

has anyone tried the new boots ranged? Last note
