Shiny new thread just in time for the new season - I'm thinking smoky, spicy gourmands as we head through autumn.

Old thread here

Really falling in love with the brand Abel. I got the warm set and liked every one. Tried coat check today which smells just like rolling tobacco which may not be for all noses but I like it. Hint of cherry. Only problem is it does actually smell like I've had my fingers in the gold leaf... so not one for work. Pairs well with the apartment.. boozy rum.

The more mature and sensible way to get a booze and smoke fix!

Pondering the Abel cool set for xmas.

I'm pretty new to Abel, via the Liberty BD. I like the sound of the warm set. SOTD is Sana Jardin Vanilla Nomad. I'm not usually keen on vanilla, but I'm finding myself reaching for it fairly often as the weather/season transitions.

The only Abel I haven't liked is the double scoop. Loved laundry day, cobalt amber and the apartment. Liked coat check ( the smoky one, its a grower) and Miami split. Best of all they do mix and match travel size sets.

Tea Storm after bath. This needs to be my last blind buy of full bottle. Pricy lesson but hopefully it puts ends to blind buying of anything over 10ml

Fillybuster · 18/10/2026 23:35

Bibbi Swimming Pool for a bit of a zesty lift this morning.

Le Labo Neroli for an afternoon pick me up.

Liberty Zephirine (from the BD sample) for bed. Dh immediately said “you smell nice”. I may have to go shopping soon…

MiaN · 19/10/2026 05:34

I need new DH, this one can never smell my perfumes!

Ginger Biscuit is getting better with age. I will be wearing Gris Charnel on work but sprits a little on my have and will wear it tonight

IDontHateRainbows · 19/10/2026 07:52

SOTD is mojave ghost absolu, keep coming back to this one and never tire of it just wish it lasted longer but like all byredo longevity is not great.

Also special mention today to Fugazzi Pomegranoudh, I haven't always got one with the fruit-oud combo and fugazzi unlike byredo can be quite strong and in yer face but this one is lovely.

I hear you on the DH front. Mine is totally uninterested and his usual comment is "You smell like Boots" - the chemist, not footwear. One perfume is very much like another, to him. There have been one or two he's liked but mostly he's not bothered.

Mia, have you recently started using voice to text or something because I have found several of your recent posts difficult to understand, when I didn't previously. What does "on work sprits a little on my have" mean?

Shopping for perfume? Or just common-or-garden tesco type shopping?

Shopping for perfume!!!! S&B : the only shopping that generates excitement 💫

demantoid · 19/10/2026 13:37

SOTM is Tana Meadow. I tried it in the summer and thought it was all wrong: it seems much better suited to autumn.

Have anyone signed up for Ffern Autumn 2026? I'd like to but not sure how I feel about tonka and violet leaf as top notes. I like the idea of the hay and heather grounding it. Not sure, I might wait this one out and look at the Winter release.

RoseTeaLady · 19/10/2026 14:00

I was wearing Tana Meadow yesterday - definitely my favourite Liberty scent.
Today is Nest Vanilla Bourbon. A boozy, fruity vanilla. Perfect for a chilly day.

IDontHateRainbows · 19/10/2026 14:27

BDK pas ce soir extrait, which is a quince and ginger concoction. I didn't like this one last year but as so often happens, my nose changes and now I'm getting in to it. It's lightly spicy and fruity, an unusual combination.

Yeah I'm with you on that one. Although I inevitably find the best deals are on line so I tend to window shop/sniff test rather than buy in store. Enjoy

Had a realisation today that I don’t think there’s anything on my list that I actually want to buy before the end of the year. I’m enjoying digging into the warm, sweet, spicy fragrances in my collection, and I can’t think of anything I’d want to add to it at this stage!

MiaN · 19/10/2026 15:11

@HolidayHattie my phone predictive text/auto correct is seriously annoying me! I may stick to laptop only posts.

It should read - Ginger Biscuit is getting better with age. I will be wearing Gris Charnel in work but had a sprits a little on my hand to remind myself what is it like.

That must feel nice, that your perfume collection is complete and gives you what you need?

MotherWol · 19/10/2026 19:32

@MiaN it does! I have a few bottles on the list for next year when the weather gets warmer, but right now I’m not even that interested in sampling anything new, I just want to enjoy what I have!

Advententhusiast · 19/10/2026 20:31

This morning Bal Dafrique Absolu. Lasted long enough through my appointments and evening is Mosaique from 27 87. Dont like it on paper but I find the dry down on skin to be lovely. It was in a Bijenkorf advent so gave it a chance. Glad I did

tretaddict · 19/10/2026 21:07

Versace woman SOTD

i just ordered M&S aura ambrette after seeing reviews on IG

MiaN · 20/10/2026 05:38

I am still waiting for my Pafory advent calendar, but my first order has arrived. I didn't realise, that they were sending a freebie too. The freebie was Luvani by Pernoire 8ml, which is quite an expensive choice, but unfortunately, it smells very similar to Vanilla Powder by Matière Première, and that really doesn't agree with my nose at all.

The one I chose was Queening. I'm not sure yet whether I'll be able to get the Selfridges advent calendar, so I'll be giving Queening a proper wear this morning, with a little top-up of Vietnamese Coffee later if I need a boost.

I'll also be sniffing my way through the Mind Games sample set throughout the day. This brand has genuinely surprised me! They had a few options to choose from, and I used Gemini to help me pick the one that best suited my preferences. Good move so far — no oud in sight!

What did you think of Queening?

MiaN · 20/10/2026 06:00

There is absolutely no point in telling myself I'm going to stop buying perfumes and samples right now. I still have Black Friday, Christmas sales, the Liberty kit, good deals from resellers, edits… and we all know how that goes!

What I do want to do is get organised: sort through my samples, put together a proper wishlist, prioritise the genuinely good deals and perfumes that are actually in season, and start thinking about what I want now vs what can be revisited next year.

Every year, last 3 months of the year I get lured in by the deals and the excitement of trying something new and great deals. The last three months of the year have become more about testing samples than actually wearing and enjoying the perfumes I already love.

I don't necessarily want to buy less just for the sake of it, but I'd like to be a bit more intentional about what I buy and, more importantly, make more time to enjoy my collection.

Does anyone else get caught up in the end-of-year perfume madness? Are you spending more time testing new samples than wearing your favourites, or have you managed to find a good balance? 👀

I buy very little from January to August

It's all year round for me! I will get extra lured by BF and I like to have some new things for xmas day.

For my situation I guess I’m lucky (or unlucky?) when I order the uk edits/deals/advents it has to be when someone is coming to visit us. Where I live edits and such like just don’t exist (neither do advents or vinted!!!). The uk has it good when it comes to these things! I do buy fragrances here but a liberty frag edit for example will only be bought if I know I can have it delivered to a relative who can bring it to me, otherwise I just won’t bother. So I guess it saves me money. I do have a relative visiting soon who has been inundated with packages from me lately through. Luckily they don’t mind. I’m a tiny bit gutted they leave before all the BF deals but that’s life. Otherwise I am a bit tired of constantly testing so haven’t been posting much as I’m just rotating through my favourites. I go through phases

IDontHateRainbows · 20/10/2026 08:09

Jo Malone Tangerie and Honey Cologne today - this will be a christmas scent for me. Also has light tobacco notes - and i'm currently in a tobacco phase. Lovely and I got a 30ml in the advent calendar that's currently out.

I'm doing a clear out and have some travel size perfumes that I'm happy to pass on for free to anyone interested, just pay for postage.

Replica when the rain stops 10ml travel size -half left
Replica coffee break 10ml travel size - 3/4 left
Kayali majesty fleur (similar to delina) 10ml travel size - 3/4 left
Escentric 01 10ml travel size - half left
Ex Nihilo spiky muse 7.5ml travel size -half left
Maison Crivelli musc nurasana 5ml travel size -half left

I also have the dregs (less than 1/4 left) of travel sizes of blue talisman, fugazzi orange crush and gold immortals which may be good for anyone after a taster of these - can send together.

If anyone wants just PM me! I'd rather they went to fellow perfume lovers than gathering dust in my perfume holders.
