Shiny new thread just in time for the new season - I'm thinking smoky, spicy gourmands as we head through autumn.

Old thread here

I am really loving the Floraiku sample set. I have to say, the two that were in Harrods - one I like a lot, the other I don't at all (Sand and Skin) are not at the top of my favourites. One Umbrella for Two, And Your Lips, I am Coming Home are so lovely! I am very happy with Gong, and I got it on such a good price - but they have such a lovely scents if you are into light and polite - it's hard to get to top spot

Today I tried a sample of a scent from the fashion brand Never Fully Dressed. Its 001 which is a 'golden hour' evening fragrance. Their 002 is a summery day one apparently.

I like 001, its oudy and warm but smells like so many other things at the opening. Its quite sweet on the dry down. I'd get a bigger bottle if I could get it heavily discounted but I already have so much thats similar that I wouldn't pay full price.

TragicMuse · 13/10/2026 17:07

I opened the Creed sample of the new Iris Debonair which I got last month. It’s lovely!

The Iris is reminding me a little of Au Dela Narcisse by Bruno Fazzolari and there’s a little after-shave top note at the front.

I’m really enjoying it!

I have few tops from the brand. I will look up the perfume range

I love some of their clothes but they don't seem to be highly rated on the S&B boards, not that I care. I bought a blazer and they included the sample

SOTE is Patchouli Gourmand from FDB. Sprayed tonight after my shower - its vanilla and spice and obviously patchouli, i’m really liking it so far. Feels comforting to be wearing - its dark outside with my fire on inside and feels like a perfectly matched wintery scent. Its supposed to be more masculine but I would wear it - will see how the dry down goes.

Matiere premiere metal lavender today. I like lavender particularly in the evenings. Mat prem such a quality house!

Tried Liberty's Adelphi Sun today. At the rate they're giving one Liberty perfume sample out with each Beauty Drop, I'll have tried all of them after a while.

It's lovely but it is definitely a summer fragrance, should have tried this earlier.

RoseTeaLady · 13/10/2026 23:20

SOTE is Veronique Gabai’s Délices des Bois. Starts off citrusy, then fig and jasmine and a woody musk. Really into anything figgy right now and I like this very much.

lokijet · 14/10/2026 01:01

SOTD cavort (black tie dinner) after Lira in daytime

I used to love Orla Kiely's Fig Tree perfume. It was simple, green, very early-autumn with lime and bitter orange... not expensive but lovely.

I miss this one. My 5ml was gone too fast

MiaN · 14/10/2026 06:10

I decided I am going to treat myself with Tea Strom, and I am not fan of blind buys but I have been wanting it for some time. I hit a milestone with my weight loss and deserves celbrating!

Hoping my advent arrives this morning and dreading broken bottles, I really want the initio for example, and also love the mind games - and they look to be in more fragile form then the full size bottes.

Also in the post dries van noten samples!

I would say Gong is my 4th favourite of the 10 Floraiku samples, but there apart from Sand and Skin there were not any that I honestly disliked. Even those that aren't my style I appreciated them as scents. One Umbrella for Two is my favourite - it smells like one of the disney world hotels to my nose and I had to have it.

IDontHateRainbows · 14/10/2026 06:36

Miller harris scherzo. The best oudy-rose. Underrated house.

JoRaRaRa · 14/10/2026 06:51

@MiaN the mind games should be ok 🤞🏻 it's on its own in a proper cut out insert and it's a sturdy bottle. The initios are just laid in a groove so it's easier for them to move around and crash into each other. They are quite sturdy bottles too though. The really issues are the Penhaligon's and Liquides imaginaires are they're the thin, fragile bottles and aren't held in very well. I hope it arrives with no casualties though 🙈 The one I bought from a reseller on eBay is arriving today and I'm also fearing that it's all smashed up.

Also tried the patchouli gourmand again - it's an interesting one, not love at first sniff but a grower.

Good luck to anyone who is trying to get a SFAC today. I can guarantee the scalpers will be reducing the prices in a few weeks if you can't. That's what happened with HFAC anyway.

Agreed. I waited a couple of weeks for the Harrods one and it dropped to a 65 pound difference. Which I was willing to pay.

I would pay it for the Selfridges as well but no more than 300 including shipping. Its also a principle thing. Just no.

And there is another thing with the Selfridges one that is going to be an issue with resellers. The packaging and damaged goods.

Thats sounds really nice

I've decided I love Brompton Immortals despite not loving it when I first got it in last year's HFAC. Can anyone please tell me if the extrait is very different before I open it?

It's weird, the same thing happened with PDM Oriana the previous year. I think I just get overwhelmed by different scents and some don't land at first.

BrightScroller · 14/10/2026 07:55

SOTD yesterday a sample of Jo Loves Orange Butterflies. Smells almost identical to Jo Malone Orange Blossom, can't discern any difference at all.

Ive had it a million times that I've hated something then loved it and vice versa.

Bibbi swimming pool in particular I flip between love and hate.

The nose is a strange thing

Narciso Rodriguez pure musc blanc today. I want to like this but theres a note in thats too soapy that puts me off. I bought it after I'd won some money last summer and went a bit hog wild buying what I fancied so I didn't do my usual due diligence. And its a fb too🙁

I went for Le Labo Thé Matcha 26. From a Liberty A/C in 2022. I do really have to be in the mood for it, but when I am I like it!

Not many of my current roster are particularly chypre-y and I must fix that. They’re the ones that make my heart skip.

MiaN · 14/10/2026 09:11

The advent didn't arrive, just sample. Testing D&S DURGA Ain't that sweet and Dres Van Noten Camomile.

Scent of the day Initio Power Self. This is gorgeous 😍

I find the Extrait better. Its so lovely on my skin.

What do you think of the Camomille? I find it fades too soon and end in just vanilla or something. Its a lovely scent in the first hour
