Totally fine. It’s a blue dress, not a black one

luckylavender · 28/08/2026 08:58

It's lovely

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 28/08/2026 09:02

It’s fine! You don’t notice any black - it’s overall blue. Wedges won’t do it any favours though! Why choose them?

MaidOfSteel · 28/08/2026 09:02

The beautiful blue jumped out at me way before the black. I love it! Have a fabulous time at the wedding, OP.

VieuxFort · 28/08/2026 09:05

I clicked on the link expecting to see a black dress. It’s blue 🥴 And fine.

CommunityPrice · 28/08/2026 09:15

The colour is fine. Don’t get a fascinator; it would be better to make it look more contemporary, and a fascinator will do the opposite.

VieuxFort · 28/08/2026 09:27

The dress is fine. Black wedges and a fascinator are not.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 28/08/2026 09:52

Agree. Don’t accessorise with black. Fascinstor no. A hair band or hair decoration is fine. If it’s a very smart wedding, a saucer hat would work - in blue!

ErrolTheDragon · 28/08/2026 10:04

It looks like a blue patterned dress not a black dress with blue, it’s fine.

I wouldn’t add a contrast colour to something that’s already got different shades of blue in it, that just looks messy and too try hard.
Stick with silver or one of the blue shades for accessories.

re shoes for an all day event - main thing is they’re not uncomfortable. If the wedges suit your feet I’d stick with them.

Please don't get a fascinator. It's not the 00s any more.

Does that really matter, though?

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 28/08/2026 11:49

@ErrolTheDragon Why are wedges more comfortable? It’s heel height and pressure on the ball of the foot that make shoes uncomfortable. So a higher wedge is no different to a higher heel in either respect. Wedges are just a bit granny if not espadrilles. There are great shoes with padding and a wider fit if necessary which are much more elegant.

Headbands or pill box hats or wide brim boaters are fashionable now. Whispy fascinators with a few droopy feathers or cheap hats look very sad and spoil a good outfit. They have had their day.

It does because they are never not terrible.

I think it is fine, there is also a lot of blue.
If you want to jazz it up you could add fuschia shoes and handbag or emerald green.

Don’t do this, clashing is good, but you will not be clashing in a good way.

the dress does seem dark to me for a wedding, but is fine, howver I’d go for silver, gold or nude accessories and let the dress do the talking, adding more will just be all over the place.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 28/08/2026 12:20

Clashing is so difficult to pull off! Dark colours are fine for weddings and there’s a mid blue in this so I’d pick out the mid blue.

catmakingbiscuits · 28/08/2026 18:05

thanks everyone who has responded,
have taken away lots of thoughts

Don’t think it’s to black as there is plenty of blue and is a vibrant blue l, especially with some bright accessories

PhaedraTwo · 28/08/2026 22:35

It's not my style but it's blue, not black

Justsomethoughts23 · 27/08/2026 18:31

Personally I think it would be more modern and stylish with no other colours and definitely no fascinator. A silvery bag maybe to match the shoes you’ve already picked out? And a fresh blow dry.

Agree!!

It’s style and beauty and fascinators are neither stylish nor beautiful 😉

Pieceofpurplesky · 28/08/2026 23:20

The blue stands out more. I am not a huge fan of the dress but I am sure you will look lovely.

2O26 · Yesterday 06:27

I see blue with a sprinkling of black. I like it!
