I really like this style but I don’t know what you’d call it or what shops you’d get it from!

I’m in my late 40’s and I’m really ready to change my style. I’ve been people watching a lot this summer and the style I really want to copy is-

-casual but classic
-loose linen trousers
-loose tucked in tops often layered
-stylish trainers
-layered jewellery
-undone hair, bit messy, thrown up in a clip
-natural cotton
-neutral colours
-slouchy handbag
-long boho type dresses

Does anyone know of any particular shops that do this type of style?

STURWBEZ Women's Cropped Lace-Hem... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0GWGK4WZN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Uniqlo has a nice slouchy bag now called the drawstring bag. It's roomy and medium sized, but the bottom is fabric so if you want a flat bottom, you have to put a piece of cardboard in.

Not sure if this is the sort of style you mean OP, but I’ve just bought some Kate Barton Hector trousers. I saw someone wearing a pair of the Workwear trousers and asked the lady where she got her trousers from. She said whenever she wears them someone always asks her where they’re from! I’m in love! Attention to detail is amazing and gorgeous fabric that will get even better with washing and wearing. Incredibly flattering and usually size down I’ve found. I also own a pair of the bright blue cord Workwear trousers but it’s been too hot to wear them yet! I can’t wait 😭

Ooh those Kate Barton trousers are lovely.

Snooks1971 · 13/08/2026 19:21

@Ketley67 @WingBingo yes they really are.
I don’t work for them - I don’t fancy the dresses or the tops but the trousers are the bees knees.
Beautiful structure.

Toast, Beyond Nine, but actually this look is now achievable through M&S and Next if you keep an eye on what they get in regularly.

Fairislesweater · 13/08/2026 19:35

I get you op, I’ve done a lot of work honing down my wardrobe into a capsule of this kind of look. My issue now is how to not look like I’ve dragged through a hedge (my natural look when it comes to hair etc 😂)

Gowlett · 13/08/2026 19:37

Coastal Grandma. Love it. I was in my local city recently, and saw four young ladies (say about 25-ish?) wearing floral midi dresses (almost the middle-aged M&S-with-white trainers look) with un-cool chunky cardigans.
I think the footwear was chunky boots (90s style) or ballet flats. Each had a small vintage-looking leather handbag. They were all wearing a variation of this outfit. Natural hair & make-up, if anything.
Never seen this look before (seen similar, as in ironic retro cardigans). They weren’t local, maybe from the USA. I’d describe it as Actual Granny? It was a bit jarring! Anyhoo, not to derail the thread, or anything…

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads I'm sure that they were in administration last time I looked.

It’s a bit old now, but I always remember this thread fondly and it might help in your search!

They’re back with new owners

StrikesAtticFlat · 14/08/2026 15:28

What sort of bag, please? Love the idea of a coastal grandma slouchy bag!

Fiflaboeuf · 14/08/2026 15:54

Forgotten tribes have some nice things that won’t break the bank horrendously

ApolloandDaphne · 14/08/2026 18:37

This is so my look. I am not a grandma but I'm 63 and live in a coastal town. It's a great vibe.
