Can I wear this top??

Please help me - I have suddenly developed armpit fat and I don't know whether:

a) it really stands out and I can no longer wear racer back type vests, or

b) you wouldn't really notice and I'm obsessing over nothing.

Please be brutally honest with me. And before it is suggested, it's not my bra - image 2 is braless and the fat is still sticking out.

I also think it’s side boob, not fat. You absolutely can wear it if you feel confident in it. Personally, I probably wouldn’t, but that is just a me thing. If you do feel self-conscious about it, sizing up might do the job, or choose something a bit straighter/less cut out around the armpits.

Honestly I can’t believe people give stuff like this a second thought! Get out there and enjoy your life op, that top is a gorgeous colour

TheChosenTwo · 12/08/2026 09:06

I have it too and am also pretty slim. I don’t wear vests though unless as an under layer, I wouldn’t go out in a vest. I don’t like my wobbly upper arms so a tshirt at the very least for me - at least this bit of me is covered!
Not helpful really and you should of course continue wearing the vest because you want to but I also have insecurities like many people and wear clothing that covers them.
ETA: I’m very jealous that your boobs stay in the same place without a bra!!!

Buggysleeper · 12/08/2026 09:12

It is so sad that women stress about this sort of pointless shit. Our brains have been conditioned to notice body changes and think they are negative, like we have our own in built ‘ring of shame’. Our bodies will change as we age and we shouldn’t stop wearing certain clothes because of it. You should definitely wear the top because it is bloody hot and you need to keep cool.

It's only because they're so tiny, there's barely anything to droop! 😂

I think it looks like maybe your bra doesn’t fit right.

HappyNooYear · 13/08/2026 05:18

Your bra cup is a size too small. Or you need to scoop. Either way you have a perfectly normal body.

Somethingtosayagain · 13/08/2026 05:56

I have recently developed this too, OP, and it is not side boob/a bra issue!

I wondered if it was actually because I've developed a bit more muscle around my arms and back and the fat layer has shifted.

Or just perimenopause!

BigSkies2022 · 13/08/2026 12:39

It’s breast tissue. I think they’re called Axillia of Spencer, which makes them sound cool and astral. I’m not a fan, (I have them, despite being slim, muscular and relatively flat up top) but that’s because my aesthetic sense has been trained by airbrushed photos of models with unreal arms and legs (no wrinkles around elbows another example) and parents who believed women any bigger than Audrey Hepburn were basically beasts.

Your pits are very normal, but I can perfectly understand why you feel a bit self-conscious. I mean, you could wear a sleeve? I don’t mean cover yourself up to the knuckles, but just wear tops with short looser sleeves?

friedaklein · 13/08/2026 12:56

I have just looked out of my window and seen 3 topless obese men with beer bellies, sunning themselves in the park.
But god forbid a woman have breast tissue without being advised to cover them up in 36 C.

Have you been lifting weights lately? that can also be pectoralis muscle...

SomaTaim · 14/08/2026 04:47

You look fine! Stop scrutinising yourself so harshly. You are way over thinking- life is short.

WestwardHo1 · 14/08/2026 06:54

You look great. Your shoulders are fab.

Crack on and wear your vest!

luckylavender · 14/08/2026 10:16

Looks fine to me

DetailRedacted · 14/08/2026 12:57

I’m slim but with big boobs and have this too, no matter how much I scoop!

AnitaCam · 14/08/2026 13:01

You look lovely and slender, with boobage going on. Good to go!

Allseeingallknowing · 14/08/2026 13:01

Can’t see a problem !

SirChenjins · 14/08/2026 15:46

No-one sane would even give you a second glance in this. Honestly.

Yes actually! I have been weight training and definitely bulked up a bit around my shoulders recently. Maybe that's it!
