Can I wear this top??

Please help me - I have suddenly developed armpit fat and I don't know whether:

a) it really stands out and I can no longer wear racer back type vests, or

b) you wouldn't really notice and I'm obsessing over nothing.

Please be brutally honest with me. And before it is suggested, it's not my bra - image 2 is braless and the fat is still sticking out.

I can't see why not, it looks fine.

WildCherryBlossom · 11/08/2026 15:33

I honestly see absolutely nothing wrong here. You have nice straight shoulders, toned arms. It looks absolutely fine.

growinguptobreakingdown · 11/08/2026 15:35

You are overthinking. You look perfectly fine.

TFImBackIn · 11/08/2026 15:36

You look great and you're overthinking this.

Whosthetabbynow · 11/08/2026 15:36

That’s not what I’d call armpit fat

Iriseee · 11/08/2026 15:37

I have that too and I am not an inch overweight anywhere. I think it's normal ? It certainly doesn't stand out at all.

MrsMoastyToasty · 11/08/2026 15:37

Are you wearing the correct bra size? It could be boobs escaping..

friedaklein · 11/08/2026 15:37

It's bloody hot out there. I have way worse arms and still wearing what I want because it's 35 C.

Why do women do this to themselves?

TheMarriageOfAirAndFrock · 11/08/2026 15:37

If that’s how you usually stand - it’s fine.

But that colour is awfully harsh against your skin.

raspberrycordial · 11/08/2026 15:43

It looks great and that’s actually not fat, it’s actually axillary breast tissue (I think), so totally normal and not much you can do about it so don’t give it a second thought.

Gettingbysomehow · 11/08/2026 16:09

It looks more like boobage rather than armpit fat. I can't see anything wrong with it.

emuloc · 11/08/2026 16:14

Yes you can wear it.

ThatLilacTiger · 11/08/2026 16:18

Yes you can wear it but if you've suddenly developed that, you should keep a close eye on it. That's also breast tissue and lymph nodes, not just fat. I had it even when I was borderline underweight. If it's suddenly appeared it could point to something health-related, not just cosmetic.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 11/08/2026 16:20

With kindness, you need to chill it looks fine.

VividDeer · 11/08/2026 16:26

Suddenly developed, and not gained weight?
Like another poster said its possible to be breast tissue. Is it lumpy at all?

I'm a very rare case, but developed breast cancer in my extra boob tissue there. Get a referral to breast clinic and not what I did which was ignore and wear different tops!

Your top looks fine!

mouseymouse123 · 11/08/2026 16:36

Thank you for the replies. I've suddenly noticed it on myself, whether that's because it has recently developed or that I've only just noticed it I'm not sure but I feel quite self conscious about it! I'm not sure how normal it is but the replies have reassured me a bit so I'll give it another try x

mouseymouse123 · 11/08/2026 16:40

Oh I've only just seen the suggestions that it may be a medical concern. I seem to have got a tiny bit chubbier around my middle recently (I put it down to peri-menopause) but I'm by no means overweight, and the armpits does seem an odd place to put it on.

it looks as if your bra cup size is too small @mouseymouse123? eta; word order

Edited

The bulges still appear in this type of top with no bra

Thats not armpit fat, it’s the sides of your breasts.

BibbityBoppityTwo · 11/08/2026 22:57

Ugh. I am an 8-10 and I have developed this too. The only time it went away was when I was way down the lower end of my healthy weight range. I’ve been properly fitted for a bra recently and it made no difference. I worry about it in similar tops but looking at you it looks absolutely fine, I wouldn’t even notice it unless you pointed it out.

milkhater · 11/08/2026 23:05

i thought those bits were normal

dudsville · 11/08/2026 23:13

If you'd just posted the pics without drawing our attention there, I never would have noticed it.

ohwhatthehelly · 11/08/2026 23:22

It’s side boob

TheDenimPoet · 11/08/2026 23:24

You look absolutely fine! Honestly. If you're concerned, maybe buy tops up a size. But nobody is going to notice it. Absolutely nobody.
