I reorganised my wardrobe today! It feels so good to get it sorted! Anybody else love an organised wardrobe?!

Where do you put coats & jackets?

Do people put these in their wardrobes?
mine all live on coathooks downstairs in the utility but before we had a utility they lived in coathooks in the hallway by the front door! Never once have I considered that anyone might keep their coats in their wardrobe. Intriguing.

I’m very jealous of your wardrobe space!

Notanegginmyjumper · 17/07/2026 23:47

It’s brilliant OP but it’s rocked my world a bit to see tshirts and jumpers hanging rather than folded in drawers.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 18/07/2026 02:24

I’ve just converted my home office, which I found I didn’t really need once retired, to a dressing room. It’s fabulous! So much wardrobe and shelf space to organise and store all my clothes neatly. It’s been transformative.

aloris · 18/07/2026 03:56

Oooooohhhhh! Niiiiiiiiiiiiicccceeee!!!

menopausequeen · 18/07/2026 03:57

Well done OP!

FeelingSad4 · 18/07/2026 05:17

I hang all items apart from underwear, pjs, and sportswear. When things lived in drawers I found I would always reach for the top items and forget the rest. Having everything on hangers made it easier to see, plus less ironing and didn't look as crumpled. It was a gamechanger for me to help me actually wear more of my clothes and mix outfits up more.

Is that really ALL of your clothes? That's impressive on a minimalist scale. Wish I could be that disciplined.

Yes apart from what is in the laundry and my summer clothes and sports leggings which are in two baskets under the jeans.

I iron everything once it’s washed and dried so I’m not keen on folding, i want to just pick up and put on. ☺️

Exactly my thought process 🙌

I couldn't bear to see my coats hanging on coat hooks. It's just about bearable if in a restaurant or similar for a very short time but permanent storage, absolutely not.

They're all hanging in the wardrobe with properly shaped, preferably wooden, coat hangers.

Although unlike the OP I'd never put knitwear on hangers. It's always folded on shelves.

I know you’re not supposed to hang knitwear 😅 but I can’t stand folding so that’s one thing I ignore. My coats are in a wardrobe under the stairs so they are on proper hangers too 🙌

A woman after my own heart! I hang all tshirts. Fold knitwear. Love an organised wardrobe

There's still loads of clothes there, about 50 tops and 15 trousers, as well as a few dresses. It's not the like the OP is one of those Mumsnetters who claims that she has 3 dresses and a cardigan and can't understand why anyone would want or need more than that.

I too am envious and desperately need to do the same as I'm a classic 'loads of clothes and nothing to wear' person.

Shittyyear2025 · 18/07/2026 07:47

I need someone to help me decide what to keep - my wardrobe is an eclectic mix of sizes 8 to 12 and from times I was on my arse skint to a select number of more expensive items, some classics, some that I've worn so much they're holey etc.

That is of course after/if I ever get to the bottom of the ironing mountain...

Rararaskirt · 18/07/2026 07:58

Makes me feel calm just looking at it!

It's the opposite for me. I'd be depressed with the lack of choice and lack of colours.

You see I’m the opposite I love that I can pick up pretty much any top and any jeans and they will work, no thought process behind what matches etc and I don’t take too long standing figuring out my outfits, but I admire those who can do this with colour.

Same here. I love to mix things up with colour and texture. We're all different, though.

I like spending time doing that, though! It makes me happy and I like to be creative with outfits.
Not taking anything away from your neatness and organisation, though! 😊

My mum is the same and she always looks fab! I think I always look like I’m playing dress up 🤣🤣🤣 although a block coloured dress I can do

If it suits you and your lifestyle, great.
I'm actually impressed by your restraint, and, looking at your shoe cubby, slightly embarrassed by mine....

Bjorkdidit · 18/07/2026 09:16

So did you get it down to just the clothes that fit and you feel good in so you could literally pick up any top and bottom, wear them and get on with your day?

Did you get rid of loads of stuff or was this just an organisation task?

If I pay for your flight and pick you up from the airport will you come to Leeds for the day and do my clothes like that for me Smile.
