Holy Grail lip care/balm

I am a chronic lip licker and my go to for several years has been Nuxe Rive de Miel (or however it’s spelled) It kept my lips hydrated and I rarely had flare ups or chapped lips.
The last few months, my lips have been terrible! It’s probably hormonal, I’m peri menopausal and on HRT.
My lips are so, so sore. The Nuxe isn’t cutting it.
I’ve got some aquaphor at the moment which is barely helping.
Please can I have some recommendations!
Vaseline/Carmex/Burts are all out.

Any high end recs welcome - I’d pay anything for relief!

I'm the same with Vaseline so thought it silly when someone recommended Aquaphor to me but honestly it's different, I genuinely can't be without my Aquaphor now. It's also pretty cheap! I use the "baume réparateur".

This does make sense - I’ve weaned myself off steroid creams/ointments for my eczema and contact dermatitis. I have recently had a bad flare up of CD on my hands which really did need steroid treatment for so I caved and got some prescribed, but I’ve used it sparingly and only when really needed.

I’ve got Aquaphor currently, it’s barely helping.

Oh damn, really? I had an allergic reaction a few years ago and as a result my lips became extremely dry (still are) and they only really get better when I slather it on every night. I also tried the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour one and it was ok. The La Roche Posay Cicaplast one is also pretty good.

I was recommended to use hyaluronic acid on my lips (I spread it over my lips when I'm putting it on the rest of my face), then a little bit of moisturiser, then lock it in with something like Vaseline/Aquaphor.

Sorry you're dealing with this, it's completely shit and I always get quite down about it during one of my flare ups. Good luck!

I have very sensitive skin anyway, react to quite a lot. I’m very allergic to Methylisothiazolinone (MI)
I have used the same moisturiser and facial wash for years, and that’s it for my skincare routine!
At almost my mid fifties, I’d love to try all the fancy stuff but I just can’t risk it!

Definitely worth trying. Someone on here recommended it and I had loads left after I finished breastfeeding so I tried it and I have never looked back - that was 7 years ago! I have occasionally tried other lip balms since then, but nothing comes close.

Lanolips is very good and they have some lovely colours and flavours.

I have quite small features, my lips are thin and small anyway, but at the moment I swear my mouth resembles more of a cats bum!
I’ve had a couple of recs for La Roche Posay so I might invest in that.

My favourite of all is good old fashioned Lipsyl but it has to be the blue one x

My daughter has several of the Laneige pots, I’ve tried them and they are not for me.

Allies Of Skin or Revision Skincare if your budget up is relatively chunky.
The Ordinary Squalene Balm or the BeautyPie one that’s in a pot are also both pretty good.

My usual go to is E45 lip balm. I have a tube on my night stand and one in the car.
Next best for me is as mentioned, EA 8 hr cream although I'm not the biggest fan of the smell.
But I have a sample tube of the red Epimax (do you get this brand?) And honestly this is working the best for me right now.

I'm in mid winter, it's as dry as hell and this little tube has been my saviour. It a perfect little lip balm size too.

I also think we need to change what we use up from time to time. I swear my lips get used to some balms and it just stops working well. Hence my rotation.

La Roche posay cicaplast lip, Bepanthen, cerave ointment.

I was on accutane and a lip biter so constantly reapplying lip balm and 99% of lip balms are crap, they all have essential oils in which are irritating and make your lips worse. I just use Vaseline now but the others are good options.

Ooh OP. Sorry. The UK Epimax isn't the same as the one I referred to (Epi-Max is a South African brand) and are seemingly very different products.

I'm in another country and didn't realise it is only a local product.

I swear by this stuff. Like you, I hit a certain age and my lips dried out. I spent my life smearing on lip salve. But this, put on overnight has really helped. I will definitely keep reordering.

Another vote for Lansinoh nipple cream here - I used to suffer with terribly dry and sore lips but been using this for years and never have any problems now. Only need to use it once in the morning and again at bedtime. Any proper lipbalms needed applying multiple times a day.

Boots No7 Lip Care is a cream rather than a balm and seems to actually moisturise the lips. I put E45 balm (in a squeezey tube) on top to seal it in.

Aloe Lips from Forever Living on amazon/Ebay. It's the only one I ever use because it's fab.
