Ive got wide feet, size 8 with a high instep AND an orthotic. Where do you shop for summer shoes???

im seriously considering drag shoes! I can only find things for £100 that look suitable - something nearer £40 is more my budget.

any links would be amazing thank you! (And please don’t point me to the website called Wide Fit Shoes - they seem to think everyone with problem feet is 90! )

I have size 8-9 flat feet but average width. I find shoes a nightmare to buy.
i have crocs , sandals not the clog type , that I wear around the house and garden. Find these very comfortable.
Brook trainerswide fitting are the best fit for me as I have long toes as well 🙄. I need a wide toe base and a removable liner so I can wear my orthotics.
i would love to have a sandal made with the built in orthotics. Has anyone got a link?

I bought my first pair of Archie’s flipflops and I love them. I’ll definitely buy another.

I've been buying Strive shoes, boots, slippers and sandals ever since I was suffering with plantar fasciitis about 8 years ago. Also, Vionic shoes/sandals are highly recommended though I don't have any of these at the moment. No need for an insert, the shoes come with a foot bed that supports the arch. Search on their websites to find local stockists.

I have damage at a particular point of my foot due to nerve damage so I have very specific orthotics, which means I can’t tolerate shoes which can’t accommodate them.

Would you mind sharing a look to the Decathlon model that works for you?

On the website there is a men’s model and a women’s model with different codes. The ones I’ve got are the men’s model. I bought in the shop and didn’t notice any gendering, so I don’t know whether it’s just marketing or whether there actually is any difference.

I have wide feet, a high instep and arthritis in my big toe joint. I bought some great Chelsea boots from DB Wider Fit shoes, so donwrote them off entirely. I also have two pairs of Gabor platform wedges. Super comfy and great for all occasions. I live in a pair or Allegria sandals but they are hard to get in the UK now. Also try Moshulu sandals as some are like Birkenstocks but a lot cheaper.

I have very wide toes and a high instep but narrow heels. As a teen I had to wear orthotics. I wore a lot of Vans skate shoes as they fit my feet and the orthotic inserts. They are completely flat but this means the orthotics fit really well. Vans do lots of very summery prints and colours.

I have size 8 feet too and plantar fascitis, Skechers arch fit trainers are my go to and they also have some nice sandals in this Summer too.
I save up to buy ECCO and Gabor as like you I've wasted too much money on shoes I can only wear for 5 minutes if that!
Does Evans still so shoes? I haven't lived in the UK for years but they always did nice styles in bigger sizes.

Ebay, and Temu, regular shoe shops no use to me having size 14 feet !.........😊

I have wide feet and massive heels that stick out like hammers! I feel your pain. I use Birkenstock Arizonas, adidas trainers, doc martens boots, converses and ariat harpers for walking and horse riding. Fairly affordable brands that seem to accommodate my weird feet. I hate heels, court shoes, strappy sandals and whatever and think they do more to harm women than patriarchy in general!

Were these any good

I just received these and I decided to return them. They were too small both in length and in width. Crucially, the alleged arch cushioning didn't reach high enough into my instep to give any feeling of comfort or support. In quality they were meh - quite possibly the same degree of meh as other shoes in this price range but seriously did not feel worth anything like £63. I'd rather pay another £30 and get a premium brand.

I have that lovely high-arch comfort in some Vionic slides I got a few years ago. That is what I am craving from a walking sandal.

I have very wide, size 9 feet and in the winter have resorted to wearing mens boots. Last year I discovered Reiker and have spent many happy hours in their shop trying on, and subsequently buying, womens shoes. I've even tried on some that are too big which has never happened to me before. I don't use orthotics so can't really comment on whether Reiker shoes would work for you but it's definitely worth a try. Good luck!

I wear Merrell trainers and walking boots/shoes, and Reiker pumps. Just remove their insole, replace with a very thin one and then orthotics fit fine.
Both brands are deep enough for orthotics, have a slight heel rise and wide/deep enough at the front for the metatarsal dome on my orthotic.
Reiker have more styles that I don’t like (too old fashioned for me), but keep looking and there are some ok ones. I’ve just bought some wedge sandals which I’m getting away with ok - can’t walk too far as can’t wear orthotics in them, but they’re a low enough wedge to be comfy for a while.
