What do you do with your nails? Come tell me, even if it’s nothing.

I used to have BIAB regularly but stopped this year for a variety of reasons.

I have been painting them myself. They chip too quickly, literally two, three days. I have used top coats, I’ve given plenty of drying time between coats, a few different brands of polish and I cannot get any longer out of them.

So now I am thinking maybe it’s not realistic to think I can have painted nails continuously and I need to do something else.

What do you do with your nails?

@TheCurious0range This is the one I got. It was mentioned on another thread here. I use the paste every few weeks and the powder 1-2 times a week - it takes a couple of minutes max. If it’s not easy, it’s not for me!

I’ve never had nice nails, could never be bothered with the upkeep of going to a salon and like you I find despite buying all the gear polish just chips or I pick away at it. But since last Christmas I’ve been using dip powder nails and love that I can have nice nails whenever I want. I did these today, took about 90mins and they’ll last 2-3 weeks

I work in the nhs and Im not allowed long nails or nail polish. I keep them short about 1mm, file them into a neat rounded shape and apply nail oil morning and evening.
After a while the natural nail oils come back and they develop a lovely healthy, natural sheen which I much prefer to the fake nails I used to wear.

Currently growing out soaked off acrylics. They are soft and weak so keeping them short with some moistering base coat and a strong top coat until they grow out stronger. Then, I'll paint them myself.

ImWearingPantaloons · 13/06/2026 19:17

File them shortish, then Dior Nail Glow

iamnotalemon · 13/06/2026 19:20

Absolutely nothing. I do like the look of gel nails but I can’t be bothered with the upkeep and getting them done every few weeks (and the expense)

sanityisamyth · 13/06/2026 20:56

Literally nothing. Clip them when they get too long but they often break before then.

Whydotheyallhaverubbishwheels · 13/06/2026 21:10

Nail wraps! Love them. I always get them from oh my gosh nails. They do gel ones (you need to cure) or polish ones, and have even started no cure gels. I really rate them, they last so well!

Ohdearnotthisagain · 14/06/2026 02:23

I keep my nails bare and relatively short. My nails are very strong. I don’t like look of those long thick nails and it’s bloody irritating sitting next to people at work noisily tapping away at keyboards with their talons.

TerfOnATrain · 14/06/2026 06:01

I do nothing as I think spending an hour sat in a chair is such a faff, and then two weeks later you have regrowth which looks horrible, another week later and they have to be done again, at great expense.

I will have my toenails done in the summer but that’s it.

Chocolatefreak · 14/06/2026 06:16

I use hand cream every night but have short nails as I cook and clean 😂 like a PP I dislike long nails - I think they look dirty. However, I’m intrigued to know how people manage with, erm, personal hygiene and sex related stuff!

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 14/06/2026 15:21

Nothing. Used to do gel nails regularly .

Stick ons from Glaize. Cannot recommend highly enough. I get 10-12 days out of them. Once you understand how to apply them, they are so easy, damage free and look great. Literally bought all friends and family a set for birthdays this year as I love them so much!!

This. I’ve had them made to measure. It’s a game changer for me.

Funkylights · 14/06/2026 16:00

Glaize here too. And other makes. My nails are awful otherwise

Comefromaway · 14/06/2026 16:10

I used to have builder gel every 3 weeks but stopped as I had lots of lifting etc & it took so long to do.
after a 6 month break I changed salons & now I have hard gel every 3-4 weeks which is much better. My appointment generally takes about an hour.

I do this as well !! I was having russian manicure where they cut cuticles and it's super clean then she would do the p shine japenese manicure nails just look super clean and neat ! But then I read up about removing cuticles and u shouldn't do it so yesterday I soaked nails pushed them back gently filed nails and I bought a Japanese manicure phone kit of Amazon and done them myself they look just as good and I saved my £44 quid took me a hour but that's fine x

I just looked up the kit, it does use a buffing block so that’s a no for me ☹️. Looking into the non-UV Manucurist stuff now…

Bringyourfoldingchair · 14/06/2026 20:33

I get a gel polish on my own nails every 2 weeks or so. I used to paint but it chips so easy on me so the gel lasts longer. I like having them done, I think it tidies me up a bit.
