Please help me find a really easy to use hot brush for find straight hair

DS (late teens) has shoulder length fine hair. He loves the look of his hair when he comes back from the hairdresser, but not when it has been washed and air dried at home because it’s less straight and glossy.

He is dyspraxic so struggles with coordinating hairdryer and brush, so I thought maybe a hot brush like the Tymo Ionic Plus or Ring Plus. He’s looking for smooth straight natural looking hair (ie not poker-straight), but not curls.

Any ideas or recommendations please?

With the hot brush. I like that he couldn’t burn himself on them like a hair straightener, and that it’s more like just using a brush or comb.

Im guessing that with the Ionic Plus being more like a brush that it’s probably for thicker hair, and with the Ring Plus being more like a comb that it’s probably for finer hair?

you are answering your own questions

if dyspraxic means coordinating brush and dryer then I suspect many people suffer from this or regular in-synch motor skills, in which case whatever devices are recommended or used, the effect will be the same

why is a man in his late teens relying on his mummy to find him a suitable hairdryer

Would it be any different if her 16 year daughter was asking her mum for advice on a styling tool? Or is there an age limit for asking your parents for help regardless of gender?

OP - I dont know about the tools you mention but I always loved my Babyliss Big Hair. The name is misleading because it smooths hair rather than volumises. You don't have use the rotation but if you do, there is a switch to make it rotate different ways to make it easier to do each side. I was even asked how I make professional blow dries last because they thought a hairdresser had done it. I'm useless at hair.

The babyliss really is foolproof. I am terrible at styling hair. But it gives perfect results every time and doesn’t get tangled.

Re the babyliss big hair. You can use it with towel dry hair but I find it easier with just damp or dry hair. It doesn't necessarily get close enough to the roots to dry them on really wet hair.

You get 2 different models, one with a standard size barrel and one with a small barrel. I've not tried the smaller barrel but the standard size is better for me at almost shoulder length and longer. Anything shorter and it makes my hair a bit triangular but that is my default hair shape anyway! 🤣

Just a tip though, make sure you don't use too wide sections. There is a risk that your hair will get tangled if you use sections too wide for the barrel.

Keep the plastic cap for it to stop the bristles getting squashed.

As I say though, I am useless at hair and would replace it instantly.

Yes. I have a chin length bob and it always looks like I've had a professional blow-out.

Can you link to yours please, I am seeing so many variations on line.

I got the revlon and just didn’t like it. Barrel too big, and it’s really heavy. Cord also very short. I got a babyliss big hair and it’s awesome. I don’t use the rotating option, just use it as a hot wet/dry brush. Love it - and it’s a good price too.
