Frizzy hair that won't cooperate.. tried everything, nothing works :(

Hey everyone, I've been dealing with frizz and flyaways for a while now and can't seem to get them under control. I use a blow dryer brush to style my hair so I might be causing damage without realizing it. I've tried anti-frizz products but they don't really help, and letting it air dry somehow makes it even frizzier. Any advice?

Are you using a hair serum?

I've tried anti-frizz shampoo, conditioner, argan oil, and hair masks but I haven't tried a hair serum though, is there one you'd recommend?

I had a smoothing treatment at the hairdresser and it's amazing. It lasts about 3 months.

I’ve found this from colour wow works well.

Try Ansrw, it smoothed my hair really well. It doesn’t straighten but gets rid of the frizz.

Keratin treatment in a hair salon. My hair sounds like yours. I had it done in March and have not had to straighten it since.

Run a hair straightener through the top layer. Job done.

I've tried a hair straightener but it made it worse unfortunately.

The Aldi frizz taming wand is great, my hair is just like yours on the top layer and it holds the frizz in place all day.

Morroccainoil hair oil, there's a light version for fine hair as well. I've been using it and its brilliant, you can buy a smaller and larger bottles.

Aussie SOS leave in hair serum is good

Frizz Ease Secret Agent cream, smooth it over when it's dry.

CoolShoeshine · 07/06/2026 16:48

It probably wont completely get rid of the problem bit I've been using shampoo and conditioner from Lidl, around £3.99 each, a dupe for Olaplex in similar bottles. Makes my frizzy hair much more manageable.

Geneticsbunny · 07/06/2026 17:06

Its not frizzy hair. You have curly hair and are wearing it straight. You will need a salon treatment or possibly chemical straightening to make it straight.

tiramisugelato · 07/06/2026 17:07

Hair spray and brush it through.

dudsville · 07/06/2026 18:00

You said it's been this way for a while now. How long? My hair was normal until 8 to 10 years before menopause, changed forever after that.

lostinmagic · 07/06/2026 20:43

So I had this issue and when I asked my hairdresser about it she told me to use a clarifying shampoo as I had a buildup of product on my hair (probably from everything I'd tried to get it under control with) and that was causing my hair to react and frizz. I used it 2 to 3 times each time I washed my hair for a couple of weeks and now use it once every couple of weeks and it's made such a difference.

Following because I am the same OP but I also hear that if your hair is that frizzy it is probably actually curly and you should do the curly girl method. I was amazed at how curly mine turned out to be. However its still a massive faff to make it look nice and I'd love a low effort way to have unfrizzy hair!

My hair used to be completely straight when I was a teenager and now I feel like I have wavy/curly hair (I'm 25 now), is it possible for hair to change so much? :0

Mine is also pretty curly but I have to do it every day if I do the curly method because overnight it just turns into a birds nest.

So what I use is the redken stuff and the revlon one step. Works well for my hair. It still has lots of body and bounce but is manageable and not frizzy.

tichbrew · 07/06/2026 22:40

@ThatWaryBird I think so, I had straight hair in childhood that has got curlier and curlier as I got older.
