Has anyone got stripe and stare knickers? Are they any good?

I currently wear M&S cotton high waist pants - they have lace at the top which prevents them digging in, but not at the bottom and they are beginning to give me a vpl (as I age 🤦‍♀️)
Stripe and Stare has come up as a potential alternative - with lace the bottom as well, and they say no vpl. I’d like to try but they are pricey. Has anyone got them and are they any good?

I wish I'd seen this thread before forking out a small fortune for my new s&s pants. They're made of a very weird material, aren't very stretchy, have no cotton gusset and can only be washed at 30 degrees or hand washed. Seriously, who has time to hand wash your pants!

@Neolara i really rate mine
Incredibly comfortable and I've never hand washed them. Mine are nearly two years old and have lasted better than my M&s briefs.

I had the same issue with S&S knickers. Wanted to love them but they totally fell apart after only a couple of months.

Wirarpa are almost the opposite, too weirdly thick and inflexible for me, although I still wear them now and again.

Discovered Boody last year thanks to a thread here and they are FAB. My holy grail knickers after many years of looking! Lovely soft material, so comfy, and they are like new after being through the washer and dryer a million times. Expensive for initial outlay but they will last forever, unlike the S&S. Thanks MN!

To those who say Boody .. I really like the fit and the gusset is wide but there is not a proper gusset with an extra layer of fabric.. really put me off them.

Also Wirarpa on amazon is often recommended on MN. Ive not tried them because the colours are not so nice (same with Paire though) but moght be worth a shot

I just posted this on another thread, but wirapa have gone downhill too. Used to be fab, sturdy cotton, lined gusset, very comfortable and hold-you-in. Now they're thinner cotton, no lining, the bottom of them ride up because they're thinner fabric and stretch more. Very disappointed.

I recently bought Sloggie, can’t remember which type but a stretchy silky pair in a box that were specifically for invisible wear, they are AMAZING and was just thinking about buying more today when I saw this thread. I don’t rate M&S underwear as much anymore, I don’t think the quality is the same as it was.

They’re comfortable but nothing special for the price. Sanitary towels don’t stick to them. I wont be buying again, they’re not more comfortable that cheaper ones in M&S or Next.

I gave up washing them on a gentle cycle a few months ago, they go in the washing machine and dryer with everything else now. They seem ok atm.

All my clothes are washed at 20 or 30 degrees anyway. My Stripe & Stare knickers get put in a wash bag then chucked in with everything else and they've survived just fine.

CointreauVersial · 24/09/2026 14:25

S&S are very comfy, lovely for a few weeks, then turn into bobbly old rags. Simply not good enough quality for the price.
