Has anyone got stripe and stare knickers? Are they any good?

I currently wear M&S cotton high waist pants - they have lace at the top which prevents them digging in, but not at the bottom and they are beginning to give me a vpl (as I age 🤦‍♀️)
Stripe and Stare has come up as a potential alternative - with lace the bottom as well, and they say no vpl. I’d like to try but they are pricey. Has anyone got them and are they any good?

Big fan of British boxers

HiZev · 06/06/2026 08:13

I thought they were awful. Bought a set of 5 after seeing them recommended here and they washed very poorly. Like others loved the idea, the designs and the general vibe but the product was really shoddy and cheap feeling.

I might try Sloggi I agree M&S quality seems to have gone downhill badly.

I have holes after a few washes. Have had them about 3 months. Comfort is good but the price is high for what you get quality wise. Half priced in sale is still expensive.

Also Wirarpa on amazon is often recommended on MN. Ive not tried them because the colours are not so nice (same with Paire though) but moght be worth a shot

Wirarpa are the best knickers I have ever had, so comfy, they keep their shape and withstand washing and the tumble dryer.
i bought some Stripe and Stare pants after they were recommended on MN, they were binned within weeks; they went shapeless and the fabric was so flimsy. They wouldn’t stay up!

MouldyCandy · 06/06/2026 09:05

Try FatFace knickers instead. Comfortable and wash well.

£50 for 4 pairs of knickers!!

IM and S are phasing out my much-loved flexifits. So I’ve moved to Sloggi (excellent quality and fit) and British Boxers. My BB pants are big, bright, supremely unsexy but so comfortable under gym wear and in bed abs they’ve washed very well. And, well, it’s coming to something when Sloggi is your attractive pant choice, isn’t it?!

I used to be a huge fan of British Boxers but the knickers that came in my last order have all developed holes after a couple of wears/washes. I am really disappointed as they were the most comfy knickers I've ever had.

Debenhams have got British Boxers half price if anyone wants to try them .

They’re doing WHAT?!? This is a disaster, flexifits are my MVP. 😥

I tried S&S bras but sent them back as they were flimsy and poor quality. It is a shame as I liked the designs.

i suggest sloggi, the cotton tai briefs. i have swapped all mine to these, quality is top

I’d forgotten about Sloggi, I used to buy these years ago and the quality was amazing. What’s the sizing like - I remember them being a little big small, so may need to size up?

pointyshoes · 06/06/2026 10:42

I bought some s&s in the sales having seen them recommended on here. I was really underwhelmed. They’re “fine” but I’m really glad I only paid sale prices. Very flimsy and not great quality fabric

VividDeer · 06/06/2026 10:46

I noticed m&s have repackaged their knickers and material slightly different. Perhaps they have also got the quality back to where it was!

I've tried every pair of pants recommended on a similar recent thread, but not found the magic pair

scandinavianyellow · 06/06/2026 10:47

Lurking as just taken delivery of mine

whirlyhead · 06/06/2026 12:19

I used to buy them, but found they faded and went into holes quite quickly so gave up. I buy boody now, as they wash better, are really soft and comfortable, and don’t have irritating lace on them.

If you are between sizes, size up.
I dont mind snug ones though tbh.
I like 24/7 cotton tai.
My dh thinks they are attractive tbh!!!

Whentostarthrt · 06/06/2026 15:12

Really like the high rise knickers but as PPs have said you have to be careful - I don’t chuck them in the tumble dryer like I would M&S ones. The pyjamas are lovely and soft but shrink horribly in the wash.

Picalilylou · 06/06/2026 15:17

Super comfy, but they wash so poorly. Quickly fade and elastic in lace goes.
Really recommend Boody. Tried these next and pairs being washed for a few years now look good as new. Fab quality, that makes them great value even though initial outlay is higher than m&s for example.

Gardeningsideeffects · 06/06/2026 17:26

Bloody love them.

I've only got one pair I save them for special occasions.

I'd like to splash out on a set.

ConverselyAttired · 06/06/2026 17:36

I haven't yet beaten these from Tu for lace/no VPL.

Thanks for the heads up!

GreaterCassowary · 06/06/2026 18:23

I love them. They go in with my normal wash (which is always on 20 degrees) and I just pop them in a mesh bag for extra protection. I like the original knickers, they don't show under clothes and I can't even feel I'm wearing them.

I love my flexifits! Will have to see if I can buy before they disappear.
