Do you wear foundation every day if you have clear skin?

I wear foundation every day despite having clear skin, albeit some slight redness around my nose which would easily be hidden with concealer. Lately when I’ve taken my makeup off at the end of the day (I take base makeup off first)I think that I look better without it but I don’t know if it’s just because I’ve had it on for a whole day at that point? I wear a full face every day for context, not just foundation.

I never wear make up, not even on occasions like weddings. My skin is okay, probably quite good for its age.

DD never wears any either, she looked beautiful on her wedding day with fresh clear skin.

I wear foundation for work and if I was going out to a “nice” event (think the theatre, wedding, lunch with the girls etc). Otherwise, I like to be bare faced. I do have good skin but I have pigmentation. I really like the Christian Dior stick foundation. You can apply as much as you need, it blends really well and feels really light.

Also not familiar with primer, what’s a good one and what does it do?

I don't think it does much of anything, tbh

I have fairly decent skin but have a bit of rosacea across my checks and some areas of large pores. I wear a light dewy foundation at work and if I go out. I like the way it evens out my skin tone and reduces the look of my pores. I also need blush else I’m quite pale and it doesn’t look right applied straight into my skin.

I’m working towards reducing how often I wear it though. I’m trying to improve my natural skin with a red light mask & Microneedling. Hoping eventually I can the get away with just a bb cream.

I have similar skin to how yours sounds and I recently started using a vitamin C serum (only from Aldi!) and it's honestly fantastic, it seems to have evened out my skin tone so much and I've barely had any breakouts in the couple of months I've used it. If you don't use one already it's probably worth a try.

I'm 31 and have mostly clear skin and tend to wear Lisa Eldridge skin tint daily. It feels light but kind of brightens me up and covers any redness. I cba to wear full coverage just for the sake of it. I then add bronzer, blush, brow gel, mascara and lipstick.

I don’t wear foundation very often, I think we should all normalise non perfect skin!

Cocktailsandcheese · 05/06/2026 09:42

Tinted moisturiser every day. Super quick to put on and makes me feel a bit more put together.

NoraLuka · 05/06/2026 09:42

I’m 43 and feel like I look better without foundation so never wear it. Also spent years trying to hide acne and now have clear skin so I’m going to make the most of it!

Less is more (for me) and I don’t find full coverage makeup flattering since hitting my late twenties.

I use tinted sunscreen as my base, so easy to apply and very light so doesn’t accentuate any lines or texture. A small amount of under eye concealer, I can’t apply as much as I did when I was younger because it will always crease and accentuate my lines now regardless of application technique or products used.
That does mean I get less dark circle coverage but I’ve come to terms with it as hate how too much makeup under eyes accentuates lines otherwise. I then just set my face with sheer loose powder, doesn’t give much coverage but mattifies shiny areas and makes my pores far less visible.

I think my skin is just about average. Fortunately no bad acne or pigmentation anymore (thanks to azelaic acid) but still large pores, leftover ice pick scarring, fine lines, dark circles and occasionally some blocked pores. The wrinkles and dark circles get me down the most

No but I wear bronzer and blusher most days.

I wear concealer & tinted moisturiser for a special occasion

TheMillionthBeautyAddict · 05/06/2026 10:03

Yes I wear Bareminerals powder foundation every day for work to cover redness. I look so much better with it on. A light dusting looks really natural and goes a long way. It doesn’t dry my (dry) skin out. I’m almost 40 and wish I’d found it decades ago!

Firesidechatter · 05/06/2026 10:15

I’d say five or six days out of seven, but I use Victoria Beckham the drops and it’s also skin care and very good skin care. I don’t do heavy makeup, but I like a light glowy healthy look, so tend to put it on in the morning.

i do foundation,
blusher
lipstick
eyeliner in a very fine line at my upper lash line
mascara
and some very light highlighter on my cheekbones,

doesnf matter if I’m going out or staying in. It’s always the same. I do a lot of video calls for work, so prefer to have it on for that.

ThroughTheRedDoor · 05/06/2026 13:02

Yep, full face here, Monday to Friday. I literally look ill without it. My skin is clear, just a very uneven skin tone Sad

Gettingbysomehow · 05/06/2026 13:13

I'm 64 and I never wear foundation during the day in summer, I don't need it and I have good skin.
If I haven't slept well I might use some touche eclat under my eyes but that's it.
I always wear eye makeup and lipstick.
I find too much makeup just makes my skin dull and needs exfoliating more often.

AsparagusSeason · 05/06/2026 13:17

I wear a tinted serum if I’m going out or working in the office. I’ve never worn actual ‘foundation’, not sure why.

number1of7 · 05/06/2026 13:21

No and I’m nearly 50. I’m very into skincare though

MontyDonsBlueSuit · 05/06/2026 13:26

I can't bear the feel of foundation as I've got older and my skin is OKish so I rarely wear anything more than Erborian BB Cream or I've recently tried the Laura Geller Baked stuff - it gives a nice natural coverage without feeling or looking heavy.

I do have issues with it though - it seems to sort of harden or develop almost a seal so it's difficult to get any product on the brush, I've read people saying you have to scratch the surface to loosen it which isn't great. The hinge on the compact has also broken, it's not well made for something that's not especially cheap.

For those that do wear foundation are there any recommendations for a really light feeling one? I'm considering the By Terry Serum Foundation for a special occasion where I'll be photographed a lot - I feel I need a bit more than my normal day to day look but am not sure where to start.
