What to wear for a garden glam and disco birthday celebration?

I need help please...

I have been invited to an amazing birthday celebration that is entitled 'An Evening of Garden Glamour and Disco'. There are cocktails and afternoon tea followed by a live big band and then a 'Disco with a Difference'. Venue is rural, think farm with events barn.

The Dress Code is 'Garden Disco Glam - English elegance meets Ibiza after dark.'

I am 5' 8" and a size 10/12, age 57 but with a mum tum so won't get away with anything bodycon or tight fitting. Budget would be around £100 but could stretch to £150 for something fabulous. Don't have big boobs but really need to wear a bra to deal with sagginess.

Can you lovely ladies suggest anything that would fit this theme as I am a bit stumped?

There's some on Vinted, size small but the fit is generous. I have one in medium and I'm a 12 and there's lots of fabric so I can't wear it without a belt as it looks like a tent. If you're more of a 10 you might find a small is a better fit.

Too much like a wedding guest dress and despite the split far too staid and conservative for what (I think) the theme is supposed to be.

If it were me I can do the boho /garden bit but disco is a style I don't like either musically or sartotially so I'd probably go for something like this. Nothing would make me wear sequins.

Are you wanting a dress? I'd personally wear existing trousers and as someone else suggested, a sequinned top- mainly because I'm larger and don't suit dresses, plus I'd want something I could wear again. Glittery earring, feather boa and either boots or wedges.

Lol I had the same thought @EleanorMc67 but in my case it would be an insane purchase because I'd only be wearing it with my wellies to do the garden...😂

The clothing reminds of the high-jinks-filled fancy dress party at the villa, in the (quite trashy but also fairly enjoyable) TV series Two Weeks in August.

Is it quite soon, OP, if you know the weather forecast? Would you wear something short-ish? And would you be willing to try Vinted/eBay?

@EleanorMc67 I think I naturally tend to midi or maxi in summer with bare legs rather than short although am currently scouring Vinted for the Rhode Ella dress which is obviously short. Event is just over a week away so might be pushing it with Vinted - in case it arrives and doesn't fit.

Your 5.8 and a size 10/12 you can wear just about anything, trousers suits , maxi dresses, wide trousers are all very disco anything OP , just don’t go tight , you can get all sorts of bras too if you want to go strapless..

Well I've learnt something! Annie's Ibiza is something I've never heard of. Ibiza is on my bucket list even though I'm 62. Dc4 is up for it! though. Seems I need to get a mortgage to buy a see through dress. I need to get our of the village more frequently!

@WildflowerMeadow Not sure if you liked the Klements dresses that @PhaedraTwo posted, but this one (in size small) has been on Vinted & eBay for a wee while, so I'm sure you could make an offer & buy it below budget. It's pure silk & gorgeous IMO. The style is, I think, slightly empire line & oversized. Photo here for perfect styling inspiration!!! Can't find any others of it though.
