Another t-shirt thread (for the middle-aged and large of boob)

Hello.

I'm so fed up with buying slightly shit t-shirts.

If you have large boobs so can't do anything completely unfitted, but don't want to wear tight t-shirts (which used to be my go-to when young) any more, what do you wear?

I think I like this (I think) from Lands End Women's Cap Sleeve V-Neck Supima T-Shirt | Lands' End and have ordered to try it.

Basically, my aim is to minimise the top.

Anyone got any more links/tips?

I think that cap sleeves and sleeves that end at the boat line can make you look a lot wider. M n S have some boat/slash neck t shirts that are not tight with sleeves that are elbow length. They’re very flattering on bigger busts.

Thank you, I loathe cap sleeves. So unflattering and they are everywhere.

T shirts have washed well. They're light cotton but not so light that they're see through. I'll try them on tomorrow - look good so far and very long. I really bought them to wear in bed but I suspect I'll wear them over jeans. Nothing is ever cut long enough in the body for me.

justasking111 · 04/06/2026 22:56

I've given up big boobs and short waisted I wear shirts now with a couple of buttons undone. I did wear a t-shirt last week under a sort of pinafore dress but that's it.

I'm really pleased you started this thread.

I would not have guessed these would work with big chest, so excellent to have recommendation - many thanks

High necks tend to look bad with big boobs, I’ve found

AnonSugar · 05/06/2026 20:37

These are my absolute favourite!

They’re so thick, stretchy and keep their shape so well.

They seem to have changed the material in a few colours though. I know the beige, light pink and navy blue are still fab.

Oh, and they have a boat neck. I’m big chested too and a crew neck looks awful on me.

Used to buy the Next T-shirts but they are thin and lose shape so quickly.

My t-shirts from 2tall are great. The pink ones are very light and good on a hot night.the black striped one is thicker and I'll wear it as a long top come autumn. I'll buy more. The roman ones look good and more t-shirt like than nightie length.

After struggling to find a flattering Tshirt for years I have had an epiphany and realised I look much better in an actual shirt, neck open a bit, nice necklace. I've felt bosomy and matronly in every Tshirt I've tried for a decade and it's a joy to feel a bit sleek and put together again.

I made the same discovery and haven't looked back. I ought to cut up my old tee shirts and turn them into dusters, that would free up a drawer.

NattyKnitter116 · 06/06/2026 00:11

I avoid V Neck as they draw attention to large boobs, and wear a good ‘up and forward’ underwire bra so I don’t end up with that wider than chest width shelf effect.

Flattering necklines are square (M&S did one for a while) and round, especially if you have wide shoulders as well. Also, wearing baggy clothes is not flattering if you are large chested. You’re better off with something with some stretch and a fitted jacket or cardigan if you don’t like showing belly.

Well yes, shirts with some shaping are better on the whole but lately all the shirts are a straight style which isn’t flattering when you have a large chest. It’s also much harder to get style that fits your chest without drowning the rest of you. I can sometimes hack the fit by sewing invisible poppers in
between the buttons (where the always sits in the wrong place so you get that gape).

These are my favourites too.

another vote for these next ones

InfiniteTeas · 06/06/2026 09:52

I am large chested and I have recently worked out that I have very specific requirements in a t-shirt. I used to think I just needed a v-neck, rather than a high-neck, but I've now realised that I actually need a wide neckline - so a wide, shallow scoop works better than a narrow, deep V. I've also worked out that the sleeve style is as important as the neckline. I don't suit cap sleeves. I need a dropped shoulder or a raglan sleeve. I've replaced most of my v-neck t-shirts with vinted purchases that fit those criteria.

CatsForLife · 30/05/2026 22:26

Have you tried men’s? I like them as the sleeves come a bit further down rather than the worst part of my arms. They’re also longer. You don’t need to go oversized either. Worth trying a few on.

Yes! I only wear men's. Longer and keep a straighter line so not showing every lump and bump.

God yeah, bring back sweetheart necklines into fashion!

Thanks @DundeeNewcastle, I love the colours and just ordered some! Fingers crossed they cope with my 32H monsters…

Reallywhatsthat · 06/06/2026 19:03

Thanks for the next links, ordered 2 last night, they came today and very pleased withthem. Also have reasonably large boobs and they hang really well. Not expensive either.

I presume you mean the t-shirts hang really well not your actual boobs?!

@DundeeNewcastle thank you so much for the Crew Clothing link. I bought one and originally returned it because I thought the v was too deep, but the t-shirt draped beautifully and I couldn’t get it out of my head, so I repurchased two sale ones today and got an extra 20% off! Thanks again!

I have large boobs and find the Nellie Notch necks from White Stuff really flattering (and to be honest I don't find much flattering these days). They have been going for several years so you can find different plain colours and designs on Vinted too. You can size up and wear them baggy or size down a bit for a more fitted look. Love and Roses at Next do a very similar cut, which I find really flattering. Can often find quite a few in the clearance section of the Next app!
