Face cream recommendations for sensitive skin

Hi all,

I suffer from sensitive skin and I am looking for a good everyday face cream that will make my face moisturised and glowing. I have tried a few creams in the past, but none have worked particulary well for me.

I have tried Cereve and Cetaphil moisturisers, but both made my skin feel dry rather than hydrated. I have also tried Kiehl's Ultra Face Cream, but it caused me to break out.

I don't mind spending more on a cream if genuinely works and is worth the money.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

@sammyvine I was using Cerave for years and only when I got ill and used nothing on my face for a few weeks, did I realise my skin was much better WITHOUT it. Something in it was obviously not agreeing with my (very reactive) skin or moisturising it properly.

I now use VaniCream, their daily moisturiser with hyaluronic acid and ceramides and love it. I had to buy two as first time I got it on eBay and it was a fake - made my skin burn, Lord knows what was in it.

The other tip I have learned is to apply moisturisers to a damp rather than dry face. They sink in so much better. Counter-intuitive to me, but it works. I use a little hairdresser's spray bottle and spray my face with water before I apply!

Aveeno oat gel moisturiser is my go to, so soothing

Tried this and wasn't impressed
Also left sticky residue on my face

The LRP one linked above is really good for my sensitive skin but I use other moisturiser elsewhere as it’s too heavy. So I use LRP on my cheeks only. The Neutrogena Hydro Boost is good value and refreshing. I also have been using INN Beauty Extreme Cream from the Caroline Hirons kit which works well.
I’m really not a skincare expert but would have thought that moisturisers would work better after skin has been cleaned. It’s often better applied when it’s a bit damp.

A small pot of lovely night cream is £3.50 - at £70 a litre if that helps with costing

I love that InnBeauty Extreme Cream from the CH kit! It’s fantastic and a brilliant base for make-up. But I can’t find it for sale anywhere.

Clinique dramatically different moisturiser. I've been using it for decades and it's the only thing that doesn't cause my (very sensitive, dry) skin to react or break out. Every few years I try something different but always end up going back to it!! I also use Clinique foundations and spf for the same reason (I'm always on the lookout for something less expensive, but inevitably react to anything else that I put on my face).

One product I tried recently that did give a bit of a glow and didn't cause a reaction was the ordinary hyaluronic acid, used on damp skin with my usual moisturiser on top. I've tried other products in their range which my skin didn't get on with, but this was fine and did make a noticeable difference.

The link that they sent in the email with discounts on the product takes you to their American site - it says coming to the UK soon so hopefully mine will keep going until then! I’m having the same trouble with the Josh R eye cream.

I use Olay day cream with SPF 30 and Nivea. For night, Liz Earle, No 7, and Elemis have worked for me.

I’ve gone through loads of different product as I have menopausal skin. La Roche Posay is great and a really good cheap range is Elf’s Hydro range. The Oat Skin Barrier cream is really nice on my rosacea and sensitive skin.
