What do you think of these shorts?

I think they’re ok.
My sister says otherwise. The only person in the house to give opinion is 17 yo son (not interested!), so I defer to MN.

They suit you and are a nice denim colour.

Definite keepers👌🏼

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 17/05/2026 20:27

They’re very nice and suit you.

Vivienne1000 · 17/05/2026 20:37

You have great legs. Wear them and enjoy!

honeyfox · 17/05/2026 20:41

They look great and you look great in them. I had a similar pair and loved them, they were very comfortable. Still have them actually but don't think I fit into them anymore lol!

Everybodysinthehousetonight · 17/05/2026 20:48

You have amazing legs for them but I'm not that keen on the style to be honest. Prefer longer or shorter atm. Or nice crochet style like pp.

Jigglywigglypuff · 17/05/2026 20:54

I think they look lovely and fit you really nicely. Not sure why your sister wouldn't like them, they're just denim shorts.

Shinyhappyapple · 17/05/2026 21:01

Nice shorts, and a really good length. Not too short, not too long. I don’t like them turned up though. Much nicer as they are in your original OP.

Tailored shorts tend to have a pleat and to be a lot longer, so I don’t see how they look tailored.

TheChosenTwo · 17/05/2026 21:10

I think they’re okay too, not ones I’d wear, I like mine a little baggier/more relaxed fit but there’s nothing wrong with the ones you’ve got and they do look better without the turn ups.

Owly11 · 17/05/2026 21:22

They look perfect to me!

UjNev · 17/05/2026 21:28

They look fab!

Bettermuseli · 17/05/2026 21:43

Really nice. Not sure what your sister is objecting to.

JustaDream · 17/05/2026 22:00

They look nice! I wish I was brave enough to wear shorts!

Of course I know it shouldn’t matter what anyone else thinks but I do care and also appreciate the honestly you can get from MN. It’s been really helpful over the years.

Sod the 'honesty'.
You have people between the ages of 17 and 75+, who all have very different views on style. I don't agree with those saying the colour is wrong - how do you know they are more stylish than me?
Decide if you like them and go from there.

They look like the kind of shorts a paedo would wear in a 70s movie. So I’m going no on that basis

What 70’s movies feature a ‘peado’ in denim shorts ? It’s quite a niche genre I feel ?

I've had people suggest I size up or down, or confirming that a pair of trousers is too short, or helped me choose what to wear to a funeral or interview.
Of course if I really liked something and felt confident in how I felt then I wouldn't be posting on here. If most people had said 'actually, dark denim would look even better' then I'd likely take that on board. It's a pair of denim shorts, it's a light hearted thread.

It wasn't a criticism. Trust yourself.
I much prefer dark denim. It suits me better. That does not mean it suits you better. All advice here comes preloaded with personal bias. Don't be put off by your sister, anyone here, least of all me if you like them. Own your own style.

notatinydancer · 18/05/2026 00:53

Very nice

Tocsin · 17/05/2026 10:41

From a style perspective - there is a line across the front, not sure if it’s a crease or deliberate dyeing, which emphasises the skin tight fit at the hips. Fine if that’s what you want - I would absolutely get the next size up, even if that meant getting the waist taken in.

Edited

They're not skin tight FGS.

there's absolutely no need to go a size up.

What an absolutely ridiculous comment!

TourdeFrance25 · 18/05/2026 11:04

I like them with the double turn up. But the original length is fine too. I agree with you, singjre turn up looks like 'caught in a chair' - accidental 😂

if I had your legs I'd wear daisy dukes year around!!

Earwigoagain · 18/05/2026 11:05

I love them and would buy them. They're a perfect fit which isn't always easy with denim. I prefer yours not turned up personally.

Bristolandlazy · 18/05/2026 11:13

I think they're fine but I think she's right, they flare out. I think a bit shorter or rolled hem would be nicer but they're alright.

DramaAlpaca · 18/05/2026 11:17

They're nice, they fit you well. I don't like them turned up, though.

ThursdayNext1 · 18/05/2026 11:22

Stealth boast! Only joking I’m just jealous of your fab legs.

RedRiverShore6 · 18/05/2026 11:26

They look nice, the only thing I have against denim shorts is that they can be a bit warm and thick material so not for very hot days.
