Please can someone wear this beautiful dress?

I love this so much, but, a) don't need it, b) have a bit of a tummy, c) would need to get a low-back bra, so I think there is no point in even trying. But maybe one of you have the right occasion and figure for it so that I can take vicarious pleasure from someone else wearing it?

Well yes you are right everybody has their own opinion on the dress.

It's OP's assumption that because she thinks it's a beautiful dress then it must be a beautiful dress that is annoying.

I honestly didn't read it that way. If you did I can't disagree with you. I didn't & very interesting to me to see the varied opinions. I wasn't annoyed by the OP and I didn't think it was anything other than her opinion. That's the way I read it anyway.

Of course it's negotiable. Half the thread is people coming on to say they don't like it, and OP is not contradicting them.

It's not laying down the law to simply ... use an adjective.

I know a lot of people dont like the dress.

If OP had said it was a beautiful dress in her opinion that is totally different from starting a thread telling everybody it is a beautiful dress. She is assuming in her thread title that there is only one opinion on the dress and that is hers.

That's fair enough if that's how you read it.

I think it might actually be surprisingly forgiving on a bit of a tum with the belt? I think it's lovely but I do think the styling is questionable, it's not a flip flop kind of dress, it needs heels or some beautiful jewelled sandals

I was hoping for something amazing, from your post OP. It’s not amazing.

It’s nothing special

Everyone else on the thread has just assumed that she meant "a dress I find beautiful", rather than "a dress that is undeniably objectively beautiful" - because that's how people talk. It's natural.

If a friend said to you, "hey I watched a really good film last night," would you get all huffy 😤because you felt the possibility of you not finding the film really good had been pre-empted?

She literally starts the post with "I love this so much" - you can't ask for a clearer acknowledgement of subjectivity than that.

Are we really at the point where every time someone uses an adjective that implies appraisal, they have to put in afterwards "(IMO, others may feel differently)" so that no one feels disregarded?

On S&B, sadly yes we do (IMO ...)!!

I don't think I'd ever used the initialism until I started posting here. I'd always thought it would taken as read that it's just my own opinion that, say, silk dresses feel gorgeous to wear but nylon mesh ones don't ... but apparently not & I need to use IMO to the point where I now bore myself!!

But there is a ridiculous amount of rudeness about other people's choices & opinions on here - plus, on this post, people interpreting (how???) that the OP is being arrogantly opinionated about a dress that she thinks is lovely (which is clearly entirely subjective). When she simply really likes it, thinks she can't/wont wear it herself - & just wants to spread the love for those who might also love it & might actually buy it!!

On another thread the OP has just ordered several Liberty own-brand dresses/separates that I've been salivating over for at least a year, but can neither justify or afford purchasing any. I posted links to them because I thought they would fit with what she wanted perfectly. And I am delighted on behalf of a total stranger that she will get pleasure from wearing one of these beautiful pieces - beautiful IMO of course!!

Am I alone in thinking you don't need a perfectly flat stomach in this style? Leaving aside the fact the XL is seemingly a 12 at most (unless I've misunderstood the sizing) I think the actual cut of the dress could look good on a curvy figure.

It’s Zara. Their sizing is cruel 😆😆

Branster · 09/05/2026 16:54

Love the colour and the details. Beautiful watery navy.
I would change the sleeves myself and make them shorter a bit higher than wrist and I’d stitch the gap so they don’t flap, but otherwise it is a perfectly wearable, interesting and understated dress in a beautiful colour and I’d wear as an everyday dress going to town or meeting with friends no problem at all.
I am not sure if the belt keeps its shape and stays as wide at the back. I suspect it might bunch up and become narrower.
Anyway I’d happily wear it. I’ve never bought anything from Zara website. Why cannot I see a ‘Buy’ button? Can you only order using an app?

Branster · 09/05/2026 17:04

I opened the website on a new webpage rather than the link on here and was able to see the buy button and order it. Thank you OP.

Hurrah!

ZenNudist · 09/05/2026 22:46

I like it for work drinks apart from the back

Lovelysheep · 10/05/2026 21:24

It’s sold out in the larger sizes so I hope some MN S&B have bought it and enjoy it. I’d love to see it in real
life. And if anyone is putting it Vinted post here as I’d buy a L or XL

Flowersdie · 10/05/2026 21:51

Totally dowdy. Doesn’t even look elegant on the beautiful model. On any normal person would look really shit

lol. That sounds surprisingly venomous.

JMAngel1 · 11/05/2026 18:47

I say buy it but maybe trying to excuse myself from buying a hugely unsuitable but gorgeous lace cami dress from Zara last week - I have nowhere to wear it but I have been staring at it lovingly 😂
