Where can I find a flowing two-piece trouser set on the high street?

Overitallandout · 04/05/2026 22:30

Please help me find a two piece trousers set/suit, flowing fabric and top, long or culottes length trousers. Temu etc all have really nice looking sets but im not buying from them. Looking for UK high street stores that stock them.

Plain or patterned? Colour? Sleeve length? Fabric prefs? Is it for everyday wear or evening? What height & size are you, & what's your budget?

More H&M. You can search by co-ord sets, OP, in the sidebar. As you can with quite a few websites. Lots on H&M.

And more.

I love some of your suggestions.
Having never worn a co ord set, do you think they look great, or a bit much? I am very tempted, but not quite sure.

awfulapril · 05/05/2026 06:10

i love the pink one in Zara atm

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 05/05/2026 06:13

Ads they not just a version of a trouser suit? Totally wearable and not a new idea.

awfulapril · 05/05/2026 07:28

No. Just a top rather than a jacket

Laushe · 05/05/2026 07:41

Saw quite a few in the dresses section of tkmax yesterday

Overitallandout · 05/05/2026 08:03

Thanks all. That’s great. I’ll have a browse

price. Probably not over £120. Colour green blue mustard love a print on trousers but would prefer a plain top.

As the OP hadn't provided any detail in her original post, I just threw a whole range - from plain & neutral to boldly patterned - out there! I don't necessarily like them all.

Personally, I think the plain versions are usually very wearable & a "safe" way of trying out the trend. I don't like anything that veers towards pyjamas too closely. So I don't especially like the cream & maroon patterned shirt & trousers from H&M (though I do rather like the Raishma one, as it looks like Oriental lounge wear, plus I like the fusion with toile de Jouy).

I also don't especially like wearing very bright bold patterns, whether overall or on my top half only. I will on my bottom half, though I personally am not so keen on patterned trousers - I wear patterned skirts though (Kemi Telford etc). I am tall, so can carry them off - I just don't want my clothes wearing me, & the whole patterned co-ords look can be overpowering. And I think there's an even greater chance of that if you're petite.

It's a fine line between stylishness & looking like a children's TV presenter - or an overgrown child - in Lucy & Yak-type trousers (see also dungarees & duffel coats!!!).

Two that I currently like & may try are these:

https://www.jigsaw-online.com/products/recycled-satin-palazzo-trouser-blue

I also quite like this one, but have just realised it's culottes not full-length trousers. So maybe not.

I also think this Sezane one is beautifully designed (it's a collab with a wonderful wallpaper design firm), but probably wouldn't wear it.

So that was the long answer to your question: "Do I think they look great, or a bit much?". The short answer is they can go either way!!!

Forgive me if I'm being a bit dense here - but does that not mean you just want loose patterned trousers ...?? That you can then wear with a plain matching T-shirt or other top, bought from anywhere?

The whole point of a coords set is that they're the same print/fabric, surely?

CoCoJones26 · 05/05/2026 13:21

Agree with eleanormc67...you seem to be looking for a top and trousers, rather than a co-ord or set. Should be easy to find in many high street stores, good luck!!

Not my thing (as they're too pyjama-ish for my taste), but the colours may suit OP.

The second one I have a sneaking liking for - it's very 60s & I could see Anne Bancroft in The Graduate wearing it (with heels & a cigarette, & leopard-print undies beneath - not a T-shirt!!) to meet Benjamin in a hotel lobby ...

(Worn with a T-shirt below, it breaks up the wall of pattern. Worn with JUST a T-shirt, it's a pair of patterned trousers, not a co-ords set ...)

It all started out as the patterned pyjama-type shirt/trouser sets - which I'm sure you'll remember on the catwalks/celebs a few years ago. And are now mainstream. But what I've now noticed online, is that everything that matches is being labelled as "co-ords"!!!

Striped waistcoat & trousers = coords. Pink halterneck top & skirt = coords. Polka-dot puff-sleeved blouse & shorts = coords.

No, they're not - they're just matching!!!

Overitallandout · 05/05/2026 14:41

Sorry. Working at the moment with hardly a break.

the sets I’ve seen are both same fabric and colours top and trousers and others were plain tops and patterned trousers which I prefer
