Ideas for flat shoes to wear for dd's wedding with midi dress

I'm planning on wearing this dress https://uk.images.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=boden+ivy+smocked+midi+dress&fr=yhs-sz-002&type=type80260-2779283427&hspart=sz&hsimp=yhs-002&imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.boden.com%2Fcdn%2Fshop%2Ffiles%2F25wwin_d1034_nvm_w01_e57c551a-0449-41f8-9781-cb74357321c6.jpg%3Fv%3D1758806428#id=15&iurl=https%3A%2F%2Fxcdn.next.co.uk%2Fcommon%2Fitems%2Fdefault%2Fdefault%2Fitemimages%2F3_4Ratio%2Fproduct%2Flge%2FF17259s3.jpg%3Fim%3DResize&action=click
for my daughter's very small registry office wedding next week - just close family. I bought and returned nine dresses so am sticking with this one I've only worn a couple of times. (Will buy something new for the big party later in the year.)

I'm stuck on shoes. I thought I could wear these which are very comfortable https://www.boden.com/products/women-high-cut-flat-point-classic-leopard-a2138leo?_pos=5&_sid=a0fe3dfad&_ss=r
Rixo does lots of mixing leopard print and polka dots but in reality I'm a tall, large 62 year old and I don't think it's the occasion for the combination! So I'm looking for some maybe navy, maybe a different colour shoes (was planning on a mustard bag but that I can change), ideally flat/flattish. Not keen on spending much more than £100, happy to spend much less as I probably won't wear them much. Size 7 1/2 or 8. Not Mary Janes and not MOB type shoes. Sandals would be OK but the dress has long sleeves.

I really struggle with shoes these days - have some great navy Hobbs wedges but I'm very aware at 5'10 I'm taller than lots of others (doesn't bother me day to day but it will for the photos) and they are too high. Like most people, I live in nice trainers, boots and Birkenstocks.

Are there any sites/shops that I'm missing? We're not near a big town - Bluewater or on line are my options. Thank you! It's so hard with so few shops around these days!

High Cut Flat Point-Classic Leopard

A versatile pair of everyday leopard print flats that look great with any outfit – especially some white jeans. They have a pointed toe and adjustable strap.

You may need to try again with the dress link OP. The one you’ve posted just takes us to the page with hundreds of dresses on.

Tuuuuune · 17/04/2026 21:12

The shoes are lovely, maybe look for something in the same style. Like @CheddarCheeseAndCrispSandwichsays, the link shows a hundred dresses.

Mumwithbaggage · 17/04/2026 21:36

I'll try again. It's not this season so not so easy to link.

@Tuuuuune those Lotus ones from Next look perfect for the occasion, thank you! I really like the green shoes too.

Both pairs ordered - 41 is the biggest size they have. 42 is far too big so here's hoping...

@LoserWinner they sound a plan for the party! I changed into Converse in the evening for DS's wedding last year - we all did something similar so we could dance the night away properly! DDiL changed into a short wedding dress and trainers.

The leopard shoes you already have will look great with the dress, and definitely not too much. The dress is very restrained. Without the leopard, it might be a bit officey.
I actually have the same dilemma, my son is marrying next week, a tiny registry office do, but I can’t decide between 3 dresses and the shoes I bought have a gold heel, which does seem a bit extra, but I’m doing it anyway.

Agree on leopard to make it more edgy. Definitely no to plain black or navy pointed slingbacks, will look too much like office outfit

I’ve just discovered Sole Bliss. They are expensive but I find them amazingly comfortable. It might be worth taking a look as they have a good range of flat shoes.
They’re typically £169 or £179 but I’ve worn them all day with no problems straight out of the box.
They come quickly, too.

I had the same issue last year. I wore white jazz dance shoes - soft, comfortable for all day and evening wear, and very modestly priced.

Oh clever! They are super plain so very unnoticeable.

Mumwithbaggage · 18/04/2026 13:06

@Zebracat I shouldn't second guess myself! I have form for putting something a bit edgy on, doubting myself then changing into something very dull and regretting it all day!

What colour bag if I stick to the leopard print shoes? I bought a mustard one from our Paul Costelloe outlet shop but it's quite a tame mustard colour. Need to be bolder.

I don’t think the leopard shoes will work with the navy polka dot dress. I love a bit of clash but that combination has a colour clash and a print clash.

BIossomtoes · 18/04/2026 13:30

I’ve been lusting after those green Penelope Chilvers shoes for weeks, they’d be perfect.

Zebracat · 18/04/2026 13:32

Mustard bag sounds lovely. I’m stuck between a green and a yellow. I’m actually not at all a kooky dresser, but 2 of my dresses are brown and the other is khaki, if I don’t have a bit of fun with accessories, I’ll be completely invisible.

I have these shoes too, they look smart and current, but are a really comfortable

Mumwithbaggage · 18/04/2026 17:08

@Zebracat a gold heel with either khaki or brown sounds fun. It's tricky - ds had a similar size ceremony a couple of weeks before the bigger wedding celebration so I'm not sure why I'm overthinking!

It'll probably be down to which pair of shoes fit me best. Best scenario, I have two lovely pairs of new shoes :)

Just to throw in another idea - how about silver shoes?

They're great for summer, and parties.

Love your dress 🙂

More lovely ideas! I did wonder about metallic. Will end up with far more shoes than I actually need at this rate!😊

Have a look at Esska or Anonymous Copenhagen for flat metallics. Not cheap, but great quality and comfortable from first wear.
