Anyway, back to fashion and here's Kate at the Cenotaph today. She looks smart and appropriate but there's something about a navy, white and red combination that just makes me think BA crew!

Just catching up and I was waiting to see if someone picked up the remarks about Albert because we always get a pile on if similar comments are made about the royal ladies - pleased to see it didn't descend into the drama we've seen on occasion previously.

Came on to say I like Kate's hat today although the bow looks black which seems odd. Love the shape of the front around her face though. I would never have cut it as a royal, those heels!!!

Those are very high heels indeed.

Kate looks very elegant in navy. Is it a version of the green outfit she wore last Trooping? Gives me a similar vibe.
I remain astonished at some of these royal women and their vertiginous heels!

I like Kate’s hat but not keen on the outfit. Way too long again and does have cabin crew vibes.
However, it is a serious event so perhaps not a time to be too fashionable.
I agree she really suits navy. I’d like to wear more navy but it doesn’t like me!

I was just reading how much Princess Anne likes those Fray Bentos tinned meat pies.
I haven't had one of those since about 1979.
Even her food taste is retro!

Highly likely! It's probably perfectly fine.

She sails a lot with Tim, the tinned pies are very welcome at the end of a day's sailing when you drop anchor, along with tinned potatoes and peas.

I think liked Kate's outfit. I do get the cabin crew allusion - maybe it's the shape of the hat & the red of the poppy. But I do like navy blue.

This is probably not a popular view , but I just don't think those very high heels are elegant. I certainly couldn't walk in them ( back in the day I could have done but not now) but that's a separate issue. I think it was Jackie Kennedy who was very keen on a mid height heel , and I genuinely think it looks more elegant. But so many wear high heels I'm clearly an outlier ( and certainly not a recognised arbiter of style 😊)

Too true! They sail around the Western Isles every year, they need comfort food.

I'm another one who thinks a lower heel could look really good on Catherine. Leti took a while to find her groove with lower heeled shoes (as in adjusting her wardrobe to suit them) but I think she looks fabulous with the lower shoe now.

The navy outfit doesn't do much for me but I love her earrings and pendant.

I quite like the outfit and it seems a good choice for this type of ceremony. Watching a clip of her arriving and getting out of the car, I was struck by how capable and confident she is at these 'singles' events - she knows exactly where to go, who to greet and so on, no hesitating. Wowsers.

It's not her first rodeo and she will have been briefed thoroughly so it's not surprising that she's a pro at these events.

I went to the exhibition of EIIR’s clothes today. I really enjoyed it and liked almost everything very much. The quality of the workmanship was excellent, with lovely details and some of her evening gowns, especially, were exquisite.

I’d love to see Kate trendy it up. She looks smart and appropriate but so dated. And those heels? Just why?

I think she deliberately stays this side of "trendy".

I’d prefer to see Kate ditch the high heeled court shoes but I can’t see it happening any time soon. She looked very elegant and appropriate today but I’m not a fan of these coats with the white collars - they seem to be a ‘thing’ of the last 12 months.

I'm not keen on the white collars either and am always puzzled as to why she wears such high heels when she is tall anyway but she does so with such ease and elegance so why not. Mid-heels can be tricky to get right.

I find these coats very dull and the length is odd. Kate's only 44 - there's no need to dress like Princess Anne in 1983!

....if she wanted to do that, she could just go to Anne's wardrobe and borrow something from 1983! Seriously, I think it looks like some sort of uniform that she's going for, aiming for classic, perhaps? I actually think she hasn't found her style vibe.
