Camilla looks fab!

They both looked fab but both quite wobbly disembarking the coach 😕

A lady that tall does not need those heels!

Strongly disagree!

Your height (as someone who is 5’8”) does not determine your heel height.

Here's another photo of Sophie in the Victoria Beckham suit that @Serenster posted earlier. I don't like it much I'm afraid. And I hate the blouse.

Did we discuss Camilla's cape from the other day? Apologies if I missed it. I really don't like the whole outfit. I love the dress, but I hate the cape and I hate the dark tights. I'm not sure what I don't like about the cape, I think it just looks cheap. 🙁

I quite like the cape - it adds drama!
There's something not right about Sophie's suit, I think it's the proportion of the jacket, and it's not a great colour on her.
She's had some really good looks, recently.

Glad to see Camilla wearing the State Diadem. That is a beauty and needs to be worn.

It is beautiful ❤️

I don't think the trouser length works with that heel either. Perhaps a lower heel and a softer green would work better? Muted aquamarine or sage green?

Yes, definitely a different shade, sage would be lovely.

Cams outfit from yesterday looked really out of place for the event. Others were in evening wear but hers was just … odd.

The outfit with the cape? The men in those photos are in lounge suits, they’re not in evening wear.

I saw photos of lots of women in evening dresses

deeahgwitch · 13/05/2026 18:35

Not a good look on Sophie.
That green suits Kate better.

RockaLock · 13/05/2026 18:35

I don’t mind Sophie’s green suit, it’s OK, but I think that shirts like that never work with suits - the neckline needs to follow the line of the suit lapels, I think - either that or a polo necked top or blouse.

But that shirt just looks all wrong to me.

I quite like Kate’s look today, but most of all I loved the fact that she was well enough to be there, and the amazing welcome from the crowds!

SqueakyDinosaur · 13/05/2026 18:39

I think we've lost sight of how women's and men's clothes for formal events map onto each other. It used to be (as far as I know):
White tie & tails or formal mess dress - long formal dress, bling to the max, tiaras possible
Black tie & dinner jacket - short or long formal dress depending on dress code/occasion, some bling
Morning dress - short formal day dress, possibly coordinated light coat, small bling & hat
Lounge suit - short day dress, small bling, no hat.

I stand ready to be corrected, though!

And would comment that for going out in a lot of places now, it seems to be boys in tracky bottoms and girls in anything from tracky bottoms to skintight sequins. It annoys me when I see that the woman of a couple has made a huge effort and the man hasn't done anything.

How do we all feel about wearing brogues in the city? DH wants to wear brogues to a London wedding. Am I old fashioned in thinking brogues are for the country?
I agree that the traditional rules around what to wear when are either being ignored or forgotten these days.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 13/05/2026 18:59

Tbh I see brogues on more women than men these days!

It's a bit "lawyer on a day off" vibe

A pity as Sophie's look has been fantastic recently

justasking111 · 13/05/2026 19:41

DH brogues died this year when he pulled them out for a funeral visit. He wears Skechers these days, or walking boots.

My heels are languishing under the bed. I've bought two pairs of suede loafers which are fashionable at the moment. They're so comfortable.

That type of blouse always screams (slightly grey) school shirt to me - needed a bit more thought but, and I mean this kindly, Sophie's outfits do tend to trip up on the details.

AuntChippy · 13/05/2026 19:51

Not keen on Kate’s suit - the colour or the style. And I do wish she’d go a bit more fashionable with her shoes.

Camilla looking fab at Parliament. She really suits ‘queenly’ dressing.

Chesticles · 13/05/2026 21:55

Princess Anne at a visit local to me today (not my photos) I like the slight tartan suit, and love the red scarf. Awful wellie type boots. But bet they are comfy.

I'm sure they are comfy because knowing Anne, she will have had 30 years to wear them in!

Although - the Mail have an article on Sophie's fashion journey and she really has come a long way since her "corporate chic" era in the 1990s! (nor sure if it's been posted)

How Sophie found her style in her 60s: Duchess ditched frumpy look

The Duchess of Edinburgh, 61, is widely perceived as one of the most fashionable members of the Firm and famously showcases her effortlessly chic looks with a hint of royal glamour.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 13/05/2026 22:21

Bit unfair of the Fail to say she was frumpy in her early days - lots of people dressed like that in the 90s as that's what was in fashion!
