Those shoes are too high on CPV. They do nothing for her.

Recklessismymiddlename · 09/05/2026 09:09

I absolutely love Sophie’s outfit.

ExquisitelyDressed · 09/05/2026 09:21

I love Sophie’s outfit too (the pale blue) the shape is SO flattering. I also really liked Zara’s bright blue.

Agree about Anne and the black accessories with mint green being too dark. And she does always lurch out of cars (I follow a FB page which videos the Royals making all their arrivals and departures at London venues). I suspect she is used to leaping out of landrovers and doesn’t actually make an effort to be elegant, her sporting lifestyle have ensured a strong, slim body and posture generally and she knows what suits her so that suffices and TBH good for her.

Recklessismymiddlename · 09/05/2026 09:46

I’ve seen Anne at the races, a few years back, (wish I could remember which one), and she’s tiny. It wasn’t Ascot as she wasn’t wearing a hat.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 09/05/2026 09:55

According to Google, Anne is 5'6, which isn't particularly small. But perhaps her hairdo adds a few inches!

Kate’s outfit is actually a dress, not a skirt and jacket, I love the flow of the dress, but don’t particularly like the square neckline though. William looks very dapper.

The Swedish Royals also wearing Self Portrait.

I like CPV'S dress better than some others by Self-Portrait. The neckline is giving Jackie Kennedy vibes.

Sidebeforeself · 09/05/2026 12:06

Ive decided I dont like Self Portrait stuff. They’ll be gutted to hear that Im sure!

I think it's strange that they make dresses which look like jackets and skirts. I'm not sure why.

I suppose it’s quite practical though. You don’t have to worry about gapping between the skirt and top, or about which top to put under the jacket. It’s also more streamlined and it’s probably a bit warmer than a skirt and jacket. I think it works well where the formality of a jacket is called for but the practicality of a dress is appreciated iyswim

Ive just been in Self Portraits website. There’s some shockers on there. I cant quite work out who their target customer base is but it definitely doesnt scream future Queen of England!

deeahgwitch · 09/05/2026 14:16

How do you get in and out of those Self Portrait dresses masquerading as skirts and jackets?
Is there a concealed zip ?
I was a at a party and a friend’s daughter was wearing one - it was lovely on her and she was chuffed I recognised it and told her KM had one similar. I should have asked her how one gets in and lut of it 😀

I looked at the dress on their website and was wondering the same thing. The only opening seems to be the buttons on the front. It's not clear to me how that works with the skirt attached.

I agree with previous posts that it looks better with the black belt, but I really don't like that seemingly random flower on the bodice. Otherwise, I do think It looks really good on Catherine.

AuntChippy · 09/05/2026 14:49

I thought Kate looked quite nice apart from the ghastly flower thing on her jacket.

As a Very amateur seamstress I'd put an invisible zipper down the side from below the bra line down to the bottom of the knickers line

Pallisers · 09/05/2026 15:48

I like the shape/flow of Catherine's dress - I'm just so grateful it isn't a coat dress in a pale pastel colour. Not a fan of the flower thingy but the rest is nice.

Sophie looks lovely - she is on quite a roll.

I like Zara's outfit and I rarely do. As a poster said one time she often looks trussed up in her clothes but this is nice, great colour and I love the shape of the skirt.

Edward looks dapper.

It’s even weirder that they make jumpsuits that look like a trouser suit in my view!

It’s a real mix isn’t it. I always love it at first glance but then there is something not quite right about it. I thought seriously about one of their dresses for ascot but just wasn’t right. Went with a silk skirt and jacket from elsewhere in the end.

Eaumyword · 09/05/2026 20:32

Char looking amazing there! She really suits her hair like that too.

Maireas · 09/05/2026 20:52

Charlene looks very glamorous, although I would have preferred the lace to be more than on the top part. I love her hair. I'm wondering why Albert wears contrasting trousers? Black would definitely look better than the blue.

Are Albert’s trousers military uniform, perhaps? They have a gold stripe down the side 🤷‍♀️

Yes, that could be why. They would definitely be better in black!

An friend went to one of the garden parties last week. She said she was really cold, I'm not convinced she's the type to check the weather and wear thermals underneath though. The queues for the toilets were long so she didn't want to drink and nibble too much. She said it was still an amazing day though and met The King.
