A lovely selection including the red one.

Thanks!

I'd forgotten about the pin-striped suit, but that's a really good look. The gold buttons are a bit dated, but it's not hard to replace them.

Diana liked her gold buttons and braid

Thanks!

You're welcome.

No there’s something odd about the length between crotch and waistband? I actually think the suit looks cheap. I like her blouse though and her hair looked very nice

I’ve just seen some more pics and would agree the crotch is very low.

Cassiope · 06/05/2026 20:10

That is not a nice suit - the low crutch looks odd. I thought we'd waved goodbye to gourmands neutrals until at least October. It might have been OK with a flaming orange shirt to liven things up a bit, but tasteful neutrals (even the shoes, FFS, and the discreet, unblingy necklace) are probably more Kate's style. Thank goodness for women like Maxima, who enjoy a full and glorious palette of colours!

I'm also bored of trousers that flare elegantly to ridiculously wide at the ankle.

Mary, if you're reading, give those wavy cropped trousers another go, preferably in poppy red or grass green. Fashion should be fun.

justasking111 · 06/05/2026 22:14

It's a big hat. I do like the outfit, especially the jacket.

justasking111 · 06/05/2026 22:15

There was a garden party, I haven't found decent pictures. Hopefully some will turn up.

Cassiope · 06/05/2026 22:18

I rather like the hat and I'm delighted to see some royal leg but the shoes are frightful. Why anyone would want to create the illusion of toweringly high mules is a mystery, why someone thought using what looks like clear plastic to do so would look classy is a secondary puzzle.

Yes it looks a bit like the shoes were wrapped in cellophane and she has forgotten to take it off 🤷‍♀️😆

There’s some pictures of the garden party on ‘the court jeweller’ . Everyone looks nice and summery

Sophie for the hat prize, I think. The cane chair-looking material is interesting and reminds me of the woven/mesh/hole puncture shoes that seem to be trendy this summer (some are appealing, some just look cheap and tacky).

The dresses aren't very exciting, but some of the jewellery was fab. Camilla's moonstone brooch is lovely and I liked Sophie's doily gold earrings. I hadn't realised Anne's stalactite brooch was such a favourite, but you can see from the variety of outfits (including at least one previous outing for yesterday's coat dress!) she's worn it with that it's very versatile. Her beautiful Grima pearl earrings are another staple and truly spectacular in the full dangly version that she doesn't seem to wear these days.

Pallisers · 07/05/2026 13:15

Sophie looks very well there - great outfit. I love Camilla's moonstone brooch. I can only see a head shot of the duchess of gloucester but I love the neckline of her jacket - very pretty.

eggandonion · 07/05/2026 13:48

It was fairly chilly yesterday where I am. A day for a garden party frock which covered thermals!

InTheVanguard · 07/05/2026 15:59

I loved the video of the (I think) hearing dog who jumped up at Anne’s impeccable outfit at the garden party and she didn’t bat an eyelid! Anne was wearing a lovely coat.

bluegreygreen · 07/05/2026 16:26

Yes, there's also a clip of the King patting the dog and being reminded 'Your Majesty, we're wanted over here'.

Sidebeforeself · 07/05/2026 18:01

Sophie looks really good. She’s nailing it lately

Maireas · 07/05/2026 20:25

I really liked Anne's outfit, I think the pale yellow looked good and I liked the hat, and the cut of the coat, which was flattering. She wore all one colour - including gloves - which made the whole look very nice. A definite hit.

I agree. I think Anne looked the best I have seen her. In fact, all of the royal ladies made an outstanding showing for this garden party. I noticed that the Duchess of Gloucester was also there. The photographs of her I saw only showed her from the waist up, but I really liked what she was wearing. She never disappoints.

justasking111 · 07/05/2026 22:30

I thought Anne looked very elegant.

Birgitte was never really on my radar until I saw a photo of her at, I think, Ascot some years ago in an orange shirt dress with a green hat that was a striking combination and a bit unusual for a royal. She is older than my mum but I generally do like her ensembles and she never looks staid or dated.

eggandonion · 07/05/2026 23:06

I remember reading about the Gloucesters in Woman's Own when they were getting married. They have always seemed to be in the background at events, the Kents seemed more glamorous (and Princess Michael was very regal)
I think the Gloucesters and Edinburghs have been really solid supporters of Charles and Camilla when they needed it.
And the Gloucester jewellery is fairly sparkly too.

JustAnotherWhinger · 07/05/2026 23:53

I would love to have a conversation with Birgitte about how life played out.

Imagine marrying the cousin of the Queen and thinking you were going to get to rock jewels at a few big events a year whilst living as the wife of a a wealthy architect (albeit who made you HRH Pruncess Richard of Gloucester) then literally six weeks later the entire course of your life changes and you get a totally different job for life.
