Handbag that’s a rucksack type for a laptop

Willitevergrowback · 16/04/2026 09:39

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for this type of bag. I’ve got to pop into London about once or twice a month for work and don’t want to take a separate handbag and laptop bag but also want to be rather “hands free” for tube etc. so thinking a rucksack type laptop bag that doubles as a handbag. Any suggestions?

I have this one, also Oliver Bonas. It comes in four or five different colours

I also have this in red and love it. There was also a bottle green that I nearly got!

Those with the Oliver Bonas Mami, what size laptop do you have? Annoyingly the description doesn’t say and my new laptop is bloody massive 😭

I have this for exactly the same purpose and can’t recommend it enough! So many pockets and functions, lots of colours to choose from. I’ve had it 2 years and think I’ve got several more years of use left in it.

Ooh yes this is great!

Mine is 15 inch, so not massive. You could probably go a little bigger, but not much.

This doesn't pretend to be anything except a rucksack, but it's so beautiful that I've lost count of the number of times total strangers have admired it. And it's sooo comfortable to wear! (mine is chestnut brown)

Reviews on the Poppy and Peonies one are shockingly bad 😭

Reading this thread, it's dawning on me that my idea of "handbag" is nothing like anyone else's.

I prefer a shoulder bag to a backpack style. Preferably one that slots onto a wheelie case for traveling. Strong straps a must - preferably sewn in, or with a 'sling' type design (goes around the bag). I've had backpack bags, but would usually carry a small cross body bag for valuables. I also find that I'm not asked to remove this on planes, so handy there too!

This laptop tote is a lot cheaper than many of the other lovely bags shared, but meets my min requirements.

I found I had to try a few different types of bag before I found what I liked, so might be with borrowing or trying a cheaper design first

The one that everyone bought a couple of years ago is the Knomo Beauchamp because it looks a bit like a handback, black with gold hardware. It's an absolute tardis of a bag, very definitely a rucksack rather than a handbag though.

I've been looking at this recently: https://italianhandbagcompany.co.uk/products/samona?srsltid=AfmBOoqCVg9wESOiMAkyhNEU8Iu58A79dNzceHmEt5UP9KhBNFjhlmFY

I have this one. I love it. I carry my laptop in it all the time BUT you need to measure carefully as the ‘mouth’ of the bag isn’t huge plus obviously there’s no padding/laptop protection. Other than that I recommend!

barofsoap · 20/04/2026 08:23

definitely ROKA

drspouse · 20/04/2026 08:25

I have a Radley backpack that fits a laptop. No padded section though. It is quite old though so can't link to it.
