Does the perfect bra exist?

Victoriawould24 · 18/03/2026 22:04

I apologise this involves neither style or beauty in fact the polar opposite 🥴.

am desperately searching for a bra that is supportive but doesn’t agitate me under boob wise or create under boob sweat and itch.

I was a fan of M&S Flexifit non wired and loved them at first but if I get hot at all and then sweaty they are unbearable (not sure If they cause the sweat and itch or just add to it).
I’m considering a Miss Mary of Sweden Cotton fresh/ Keep fresh one but it’s a bit of an expensive gamble.
Have also considered a bamboo (Boody) one but would really appreciate recommendations.

Non-wired bras are inherently sweaty because the breast tissue is not lifted away from the body. What size are you?

Anewerforest · 18/03/2026 22:07

Go to Rigby and Peller . They will find you a bra that is right for your shape and fits properly. It will be blissfully comfortable anlook fab. It will cost you though.

BrendaSmall · 18/03/2026 22:08

Measure yourself properly using the boob or bust calculator online and trust the process!
Do not buy bras from supermarkets, not even M&S!!
Buy from a reputable company online

I have this one from Amazon as recommended by Club Forty Claire, it’s really very good. I bought the white and skin colour too.

Recently got a Chantelle non- wired bra, with a hook up strap as opposed to a crop top over the head type bra.
Very comfortable, best bra i've bought in many a year.

Yes that sounds about right I’m a 36 C but possibly more like a D

I have never been professionally fitted for a bra I need to do this, John Lewis is my most convenient option.

I only wish this were true. £70 down and I’d say the M&S ones were way more comfortable. Still not as comfortable as Shapermint, though. There is nothing more uncomfortable than sweaty under boobs being chafed by underwire, no matter what the fit.

floppybit · 19/03/2026 00:03

I only wear the Boody ones now, they are so comfortable, and I also wear the matching big knickers!

GloiredeDijon · 19/03/2026 01:06

Try Body & Bra. Non wired, very supportive and the most comfortable bra I have ever worn.

That's disappointing to hear. I have used Rigby and Peller for decades buying an average one bra a year, and always ended up with something comfortable that lasted for years. But obviously that doesn't work for everyone.

I would strongly recommend just trying Rigby and Peller first. You don't have to buy if you're not happy. I never got such a good fit anywhere else, and I tried a lot of places.

Do you find them supportive or is the benefit mostly comfort?

Another vote for Boody, I’m really impressed. The support is good and the straps don’t fall off (a bugbear of mine with most bras). I bought one on Vinted to try it out.

isthismylifenow · 19/03/2026 06:33

I am an absolute convert to the jelly bra. It is the most comfortable bra I have ever worn.

I am in another country so can't say who else sells them your side, but I bought mine from Shein. There are companies who sell direct, but they all seem to be sourced from China anyway.

I usually wear a moulded non wire bra, and I was battling to find a decent replacement to my fave which was way too old to be decent.

I will be ordering another of the jelly bra, I only bought one as was not sure what it would be like. I have the one that has the scalloped edge.

It holds the girls up well (although I am not massively endowed at 32C).
It is completely seamless and so smooth under clothing.
I thought the straps looked a bit wide at first, but they are the perfect width for support.

I tried a Boody in my hunt, and I don't know if it was just the style that I tried, but it wasn't very supportive for me.

I personally would suggest to try before you buy if you can.

La Redoute have Miss Mary on sale at the moment, OP.

Oh ace thanks - I have been looking at them for ages so might just go for it.

Thanks all, I have been googling all suggestions ❤️

I think the start should be getting fitted. I agree with the PP who said that non-wired bras are sweaty by definition. I used to buy my bras from Bravissimo before Brexit, they have lots of sizes and shops you can visit in person to get fitted. From your description (36C) it sounds like you might be in a wrong size bra, unless you’re very athletic with a broad back and small boobs (professional swimmer or weightlifter?)

Victoriawould24 · 19/03/2026 08:23

@CortieTatNot athletic sadly but yes I think for I’m going to invest I need a proper fitting

After years and years of trying to find the ultimate non wired comfortable bra, I know have ones from Conturve and I love them. Whilst not underwired I do feel supported compared to other brands I've tried.

I have tried Miss Mary, M&S, Chantelle, Figleaves, Playtex, Wacoal, Wonderbra, Triumph, Fantasie, Bravissimo, literally every brand you can think of. A couple of times I ordered in excess of 20 bras from Next so I could try them on for free and and they all went back.

It is so hard and I feel your pain.

Victoriawould24 · 19/03/2026 09:26

Thanks @ChirpyAmberLionI had a flashback that I did the same a few years back and was so disappointed because I assumed if I was paying a lot then the bra would naturally be amazing.
I will have a look at Conturve.

I'd bet money you're not a 36C. The perfect bra for you does exist, but a proper fitting is crucial. Do Boob or Bust as a first step.

It’s a pity about non wired bras being sweaty by definition. Why is this?

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 19/03/2026 09:43

Just seen the answer. Pity as I find them comfy.
