Cleansing balm for sensitive skin?

Is anyone using a fragrance-free cleansing balm that they'd really recommend for sensitive skin, please? I love the texture of e.g. Emma Hardie Moringa, but it's so expensive and the smell is a bit overpowering! Ideally I'd avoid essential oils too.

I love a cleansing balm BUT I have very sensitive skin and have come to the conclusion that they take more removal and that alone isn’t compatible. The cloth rubbing is outdoing any of the benefits of the lovely product.

If you really do want a bam, the Byoma one is excellent for its price.
As standard I use Heaven skincare new edition cleanser.

Elemis did a naked pro collagen cleansing balm which I loved and it was really gentle on the skin. What sort of budget are you thinking?

I love a cleansing balm. Splurged out this month with the EH moringa - I like it. It’s ok. It’s fineeeee.
But I will be going back to my old faithful - bodyshop Chamomile cleansing balm. Cheaper, less fragranced (I don’t know if they do FF?) and definitely takes my eye makeup off a lot easier than anything else I’ve tried.

The Beauty of Joseon cleansing balm is fragrance free, gets make up off really easily and washes off cleanly with water, no need for a cloth.

Hephebe · 08/03/2026 20:51

Ooh this is useful, thanks all.

Budget-wise I currently use brands like Superfacialist, Curel, BeautyPie, La Roche Posay so I guess mid-range (but the cheaper the better!).

I didn't know Beauty of Joseon did one - I'm not mad keen on their SPF but I love their Glow Deep serum.

@Tortephant I take your point but I find a muslin is fine for my skin (so far), which seems to be more triggered by particular ingredients than methods, if that makes sense.

@Ihaveaskedyouthrice thanks, I've used the face cream from that range and liked it.

@countdowntonap thanks but that has fragrance in it and actually looks pricier than the EH one.

I’d suggest consulting a dermatologist for full allergy testing. I did, it’s saved me thousands in buying the wrong products.

I love body shop camomile balm, absolutely brilliant.

HippyChickMama · 08/03/2026 21:26

I find Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm very gentle on my sensitive skin, but it still does a good job of removing makeup

hellotomrw · 08/03/2026 21:29

Inkey list oat cleansing balm for my very sensitive skin

BauhausOfEliott · 08/03/2026 21:38

The Body Shop’s camomile cleansing balm is brilliant,
very gentle and soothing.

I'm using a cheap one from beauty bay which is great but no longer available as they've gone bankrupt, but it has camomile in which makes me think I'll try the body shop one in the future. I've found the cheap one much more gentle on my skin than Elemis, which I'd used for years

I love body shop camomile balm, absolutely brilliant.

I love this product so much

hattie43 · 08/03/2026 22:01

I’ve got uber sensitive skin and use Elemis cleansing balms , currently the water melon and it’s gorgeous

Thundertoast · 08/03/2026 22:10

The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser! Cream that turns into a balm/oil when you use it, so gentle, no smell, gets off waterproof eyeliner and mascara with ease.

mayflowers9 · 08/03/2026 22:24

Geek and Gorgeous do a great one that’s £12 on Amazon

WhereAreWeNow · 08/03/2026 22:25

Weleda skin food cleansing balm is brilliant

shuffleofftobuffalo · 09/03/2026 00:54

Clinique take the day off, my skin is very sensitive and this is the only cleanser it likes. Body shop camomile balm is a close second.

donotmissyourchancetoblow · 09/03/2026 01:17

The inkey list oat cleansing balm. It’s also cheap as chips but doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight/dry/stripped. I also like that it’s in a squeeze bottle so I don’t have to poke a finger or nail in to scoop out products like most other balms.

my all time favourite cleansing balm is the Eve lom one. People complain that it’s got an odd/strong smell but I don’t agree snd I have a nose like a blood hound.

Needaglowup · 09/03/2026 01:54

Clinique does a lovely cleansing balm

Bibs23456 · 09/03/2026 05:27

I am a fellow fragrance free person with a diagnosed fragrance allergy and VERY sensitive skin. I just use coconut oil or olive oil from the supermarket. Literally the only things that work for me. Cheap and cheerful and won’t flare anything up. People say oils can cause acne but I also have oily skin and haven’t had any issues yet. Plus if you buy a big tub of coconut oil you have a cleanser, hair mask, body moisturiser all in one

Simonjt · 09/03/2026 06:08

I have extremely sensitive skin, rather than balm I use a cleansing oil from celimax, it already being liquid means I don’t need to drag my skin at all.

FourBlackCats · 09/03/2026 07:28

I also like the Inkey List one. The Clinique and Body Shop camomile ones were terrible for my sensitive eyes.
