Flat shoes for wide leg jeans (not trainers)

I’ve recently took the leap over to wide leg jeans from my once beloved skinny jeans. Normally I wear them with trainers (new balance or adidas samba).

I am going to an event which is casual so I am wearing wide leg jeans and a waistcoat style vest. Trainers are too casual.

What shoes would look best please? I tried on Mary Jane style shoes, ballet pumps, pointed ballet pumps and chunky loafers and all of them looked ridiculous. But when I see others wearing this it looks great!

The jeans are a mid-dark blue and the shoes were all black - is it maybe the contrast of colour I didn’t like? Perhaps they’d look better with black jeans

If the jeans cover most of your shoe then you can probably wear flat or low heeled boots. I agree, probably the colour of shoe rather then the style you need to tweak.

I love the look of these and I’m sure they look great however I am terrible with any sort of heel. I walk like a baby elephant and get really sore feet!

I would say yes to the arch but I haven't had PF for a while so I wouldn't want to comment on that.

Just to jump on re: ballet flats, I recently bought some cool leopard-print ones from Diechmann shoes. I normally avoid cheap shoes but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of them for such a good price. They also work with flared jeans :-)

Me too, addicted to my wide leg jeans. I wear a pair of chunky black patent leather moccasins. I love them, so comfortable, l bought them about 3 years ago. You will find them in most shoe outlets

Never, ever wear black shoes with denim.

Brogues would be a good shout. My favourites are from Beatnik and the red ones give a lovely pop of colour under indigo full leg wide jeans. I also love the green ones

I myself tend to wear a pointed toe flat not too plain in colour or design and I've a penchant for leopard print and am loving silver too alongside a more fabric rather than "rigid leather" shoe
Last year I bought a black/white gingham pair from new look in their sale and a satiny floral print alongside I think from river island
I'm not the most practical of shoe wearers and in winter tend to wear knitted co-ords or woollen dresses usually with suede/stretch material full length pointed toe kitten heeled boots
My advice may not help
But I do like nice shoes and a gorgeous bag!
If you want to just experiment first without spending a fortune, shein do various shapes colours and the quality's not terrible either!
