Help me find a wedding outfit for my 12 yo DD

We are off to a wedding in April and my DD needs to find an outfit to wear. Really struggling to find something to suit her from the usual places.

She's very slim - no curves - and wears age 11-12 clothes, or maybe XXS from the adult range.

We are way past flouncy dresses and pink (occasion wear was much easier when she was a lot younger and happy wearing a frilly dress of the type you can find anywhere!) but struggling to find something she likes. She's very casual (baggy jeans and hoodies).

There are a few older girls at the wedding so she wants to look 'grown up' - any ideas of where to look?

She likes blue, and would prefer to cover her arms if possible.

Vinted.

I got my daughter who is same age a dress originally from monsoon. Its lovely and cost £8. You would not know its worn.

Even if you just use it as a tool to see what she might like. Ive found most shops you need to order it in as they dont have it in the actual shop.

Supermarkets are good too.

@BauhausOfEliott Yes. I’ve followed it closely. Lots of suggestions are rejected by DD. She has rejected most dresses suggested and lots of us have suggested trousers and a more drsssy top as a result. She approved of 2 outfits from New Look and Hollister.

The difficulty is persuading a tracking/baggy jean wearing teen to embrace something she doesn’t choose to wear. Nothing has been wholeheartedly embraced. She wants to look grown up but seems to struggle with that concept - there’s so much at River Island and Zara but DD didn’t want clothes that came in smaller sizes and XS is too big. Not sure there’s an answer really!

At that age, my DDs were beginning to be interested in fashion and embraced ideas. If DD isn’t keen on anything, it’s just a case of being a bit more dictatorial.

Edited

She’s seen a couple of things she wants to try. There’s absolutely no reason at all for the OP to be more dictatorial unless the girl refuses to try anything except a tracksuit or those nasty Shein dresses. That is not the case.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I do really appreciate it.

I realise it might not seem it but DD is open to new styles/ideas - although as I've said I think she's at a tricky age, that 'in between' time between being a child and a 'proper' teen and it makes it harder given how slim she is. We were real life clothes shopping just before Christmas and sometimes even 11-12 yr clothes are too big. She's acutely aware that she's slimmer and less developed than all her friends, we as grown women know how disheartening it can feel trying clothes on for them not to fit - as a 12 yo who just wants to fit in with peers it must be even harder, especially when you look at clothes online and you know that when you try them on they won't look anything like that on your body. I really just want her to feel comfortable and confident. She's genuinely looking forward to getting dressed up, and is not angling to wear her usual jeans and hoodies!

I've discounted some of the styles suggested because I know her body and I know they wouldn't look right on her. But I really do appreciate everyone's suggestions.

If anyone is remotely interested the Hollister dress arrives early next week so I shall report back then 🤣

The drop waist red one I suggested? Dd will be pleased if it is 😌. She joked that she should become a fashion influencer!

I hope it suits her 😁.

Do you feel better now for saying that, why do you even feel you needed to come on here and give your opinion of your 6 year old daughter. No disrespect to your daughter but hopefully this mum won’t be taking in what a 6 year old thinks.

Maybe read what I put before judging!!!
Well obviously a child’s opinion is better than an adult’s as the OP was referring to a child wearing it 🙄🙄

How was the dress? Hope it suited her ☺️.

@BloddersMum the red Hollister dress was a hit! You can tell your daughter she has a career in fashion and typing 🤣

We are now trying to find suitable footwear and some sort of cover up 🫣

But thanks again for all the suggestions, who knew this would be such a long and drawn out process?!

She is going to be so happy!

Dd went with black ankle boots and a faux fur pink cropped jacket (both Vinted) but that was for a February wedding.

That was supposed to say styling, not typing 🫣

I assumed it was something like that 😆.
