Modest/chic registry wedding outfit!

Applecrumble0110 · 17/02/2026 21:25

Hi I'm looking for a registry wedding outfit, I say outfit because it doesnt have to be a dress. But I'm really struggling because I'd like it to be quite modest, not really showing much skin/cleavage (not that I'm saying there is anything wrong with those things!!) Its just my personal style and what I prefer :) any ideas for anytbing chic?

OneNewEagle · 17/02/2026 22:48

do you want cream white champagne or open to any colours?

They do gorgeous dresses for weddings. I’m an older bride, well I will be, and I’ve seen some lovely wedding photos of older brides wearing their dresses. I especially like them in light blue.

Have you considered vintage? That style is very 1930's. Also Edwardian styles have some more modest cuts but are often lacy. Some 60's and 70's may also fit the bill. Etsy can be a good place to look for ideas/dresses to purchase, you could get someone to do any alterations. These are pricier options, but you can get vintage for less elsewhere.

I’ve been informed several times over the last few days that this would be suitable 🤭

I wore a Ghost dress yo my registry office wedding. I was SO glad I wore a dress with a nod to bridal. I wore it with gold Esska style sandals,.a white clutch bag and a bouquet I made myself.

Here's an example

Madison Ivory Satin Midi Dress | Ghost London

Simple yet striking, Madison is an ivory white v-neck satin midi dress with puff shoulders, a button-down front & 3/4 sleeves. The perfect bridesmaid dress.

This.

I like this. Depends if you want a wedding dress to keep or an outfit you can possibly wear again.

Applecrumble0110 · 18/02/2026 18:41

Absolutely love zimmerman and have splashed out on them before. I love all the suggestions that say 'bride' and am not bothered about being able to wear it again!

They're exquisite! Especially love the cotton lawn ones - very Picnic at Hanging Rock ... (one of my very favourite films ever!).

Bustyblondebarbie56 · 19/02/2026 07:04

I would go with a time less trouser suit that shows of your figure, almost like a dressy black tie number but in a feminine pastel colour or in cream if you dont want white,go with ivory.x good luck

OhDear111 · 19/02/2026 10:37

@EleanorMc67The back view with the zip isn’t great. It’s what guests see. It suggests the silk is quite lightweight.

Do you mean the Jane Bourvis Demelza one? I didn't even look that closely at it - as it's more 1000 guests at a Gothic abbey than registry office, IMO!! But yes, it's oddly plain & a bit bumpy along the (very long) zip. It's the cotton lawn ones with antique lace that I really liked.
