Elemis cleansing balm alternative

I fell in love with this cleanser but unfortunately not the price tag and I’ve nearly finished my current one. Is it really worth the money or am I missing out on a good dupe?

I have a cheaper cleansing balm but it just doesn’t bring me the same joy when I use it. Maybe it’s the fragrance doesn’t feel as luxurious a product.

Or I saw the Elemis cleansing butter is slightly better priced. Is this worth a try?

I’ve tried the butter and it stung my face. Just awful. The inkey list do a cleansing balm. Doesn’t smell the same and comes in a tube but it’s ok

TheChicDreamer · 16/02/2026 07:57

Nice cleanser is gorgeous - I used the Eve Lom and Clinique stuff until I discovered the Aldi Elemis/ Emma Hardie dupes and realised it all washes off anyway and so long as it does the job there’s no point spending stupid amounts on it. As far as I’m concerned, the Boots No7 stuff does the job perfectly while the Aldi stuff isn’t available. I managed to get 4 of the Boots ones for a fiver each on a code stacking promo they were running last week!

Saw someone on TV raving about this Weleda
Weleda Skin Food Nourishing Cleansing Balm

I have not used it but they were so enthusiastic I added it to my list.

I really like one of the Aldi ones but I rarely see it in store any more.

I'm currently using that one. It's fine but I much prefer the Elemis/Aldi/No 7/M&S. I won't be repurchasing.

I alternate the Elemis cleansing balm with the Pixi Glow Tonic cleansing gel, which also smells delicious and exfoliates. It comes in a tube which I accept reduces the luxe factor.

Edit: not a balm or butter in a jar, to be clear, just a nice product that has the same effect.

Clinique take the day off is cheaper and bigger. Lots of deals for jt on various websites. Was my favourite for years, until I discovered Estée Lauder Advanced Night Cleansing Gelee (also expensive but you only beed a tiny bit)

TheKateColumbo · 16/02/2026 08:44

The cherry Elemis cleansing balm in the small size was on offer on Boots £10 Tuesday last week. It might be worth keeping an eye on there.

Otherwise I stock up on Prime day or Black Friday.

Calypsocuckoo · 16/02/2026 09:00

The aldi one is nothing like the Elemis one, I ended up throwing it away. I just cannot find anything like the Elemis one so I try to buy it cheaper, so in a gift set or in a boots 20% off offer. When I went on holiday (jet2) I got one on the plane at a great saving, this year I will get 2 if the same offer.
the other place to look for a bargain is on Vinted as people often sell the full size and gift sets much cheaper as unwanted gifts.

Cyclingmummy1 · 16/02/2026 09:05

I'm sure it was next to the tills in my Aldi last week. Special buy with 3-4 different items. There's no guarantee yours will have the same though.

Byoma cleansing balm

I came on here to say this. I have the Emma Hardie and the Byoma. Prefer the Byoma

Comefromaway · 16/02/2026 09:14

I don't think expensive cleansers are worth it and in fact I have found that they are not good for your skin.

I double cleanse and my current favourites are Superdrug Vitamin E, Inkey List oat cleanser, Inkey List cream to milk cleanser and any of the Byoma cleansers depending on your skin type.

Jk987 · 16/02/2026 09:16

The Body Shop Chamomile cleansing balm. It comes in a tin and is very effective and soft.

Baconking · 16/02/2026 09:16

Tropic skincare

Tortephant · 16/02/2026 09:50

The Byoma one is surprisingly good for the price. I have this as my budget option and a luxury one that I use a couple of times a week.

I have used high end and low end skin care. It is not a problem affording high end. Byoma is excellent and my daughter refuses to use anything ese. My more mature skin suits some other brands like Medik8 & Inkey LIst for many products but I am seriously considering switching to Byoma for things certain products.

If you want to go high end/luxury spend it on serums rather than cleansers which do not stay on your face.

Hm I was afraid of that, has anyone tried the cleansing butter version? I’m not to sure what the difference is!

I’ve got a sample of the Elemis cleansing butter and it’s nothing like the balm. Doesn’t smell particularly nice.

blizymitzy · 16/02/2026 10:12

I used Elemis for years but have changed Emma hardie cleansing balm and honestly don’t notice any difference.
it’s cheaper but not cheap

beakyboo10 · 16/02/2026 10:27

I signed up for the Elemis emails on their website and they do send you a lot of emails, but they let you know when they have 25% off. I have never paid full price and just purchase it when its on offer or as other people have mentioned when I have flown with Jet2. Just looked an Amazon and it currently has 20% off.

Good to know! I will take it off my list. I do get frustrated with the lack of Aldi balm. I can't remember the last time they had it. I tried the Lidl one recently and think it's good but not as good as Aldi one. I think I tried boots one too. Don't think I tried the m and s one

theoneandonlyhydro · 15/02/2026 22:15

I have tried the Aldil dupe and really happy with it. Fraction of the elemis cost and I really like the lightly scented rose one

Edited

Me too!!

hattie43 · 16/02/2026 18:59

I’m using it now , I alternate between Elemis and Liz Earle cleansers . Worth the money .

IsItSummerSoon · 16/02/2026 19:09

I’m also in the cheap cleanser, spend money on serums camp.

I really like Superdrug Melting Cleansing balm (in the light blue package) which I use as step one in a double cleansing routine when I’ve worn make up.

I don’t see it as a perfect dupe for another more expensive brand, I just like it for itself, it works brilliantly.

Wallaroo21 · 16/02/2026 19:56

Thank you, I ended up getting the original 100g on Amazon subscribe and save for £37. I considered Vinted but was a bit wary!
