New thread because we can't stop chit-chatting and failing our low buy resolutions.

Everyone welcome to join in, new and old alike. This thread is a bad influence zone though so be warned all who enter! 😂

Beautiful palettes @JoRaRaRa.

RomanFruit · 18/02/2026 13:01

Oh dear, I’ve just had a dispatch notification that my Cult Beauty edit is now with Evri!

The only other time I’ve had a Cult Beauty parcel dispatched through them it got lost (like several other posters here!) so I’m not feeling overly optimistic…

TragicMuse · 18/02/2026 13:33

Does anyone have a good rec for a cleanser that actually removes makeup? Or is micellar followed by skin cleansing the best way?

OvaHere · 18/02/2026 13:53

My Chanel and Dior palettes arrived today, I've used them both so I guess I'm keeping them both 🤣🩵💙

The bottom left on the Dior palette is gorgeous 😍 The only shade that's similar is the darkest one in each, but the Chanel one isn't as pigmented and is shimmery.

Which do you like best now you have them in hand?

I'm really liking the Lancome eye make up remover that I got in the holiday set. I've decided to use that going forward as it's gentler on my eyes than cleansers and very effective. The rest of my face I'll keep using whatever balm or oil I have open.

I've been using the eye make up remover with a collection of soft resuable pads I've collected from beauty boxes and the combo is v good.

I guess micellar water is also good for the same purpose. I haven't used it in a long time but the Garnier one seems very popular.

I think I quite like the dior one more. The light blue is very light so that and the grey are very similar. I might change my mind tomorrow after using the Chanel though 💁🏻‍♀️

I double cleanse now if I'm wearing makeup - and especially if I've remembered to also use SPF. Oil or balm cleanser followed by a creamier cleanser and flannel / muslin cloth.

At the moment I'm using the By Juccy - Vinoberry Blended Cleansing Oil which I picked up for $1 on a Style Korean offer (I love it); or I use an M&S cleansing balm - these are followed by the Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser from the Boots K-Beauty starter kit. That combo, followed by toner, usually gets rid of any eye makeup. If eye makeup is stubborn I use Elizabeth Arden All Gone eye and lip makeup remover (with the Lancôme one in reserve)

I'm not sure my response above actually answers your Q for recommendations - I think double cleansing with any balm or oil cleanser suited to your skin type, followed by a cream/wash off cleanser, should do it - they don't have to be expensive brands.

LoveLabradors · 18/02/2026 14:43

Thanks to the person who mentioned the Escentual 25% off. I stocked up on my much loved Roget et Gallet farina soaps and inspired by JoRaRa’s blues purchasing got the Lancôme idole goddess mono shadow in lunar glow. I couldn’t justify the Chanel or Dior blues at this point as I have ones to use up. But the lunar glow just looked too pretty to resist and as a single shade I can pretend I need it!

I agree with this - I find cleansing balm, removed with a cloth, the best for removing makeup (including eye makeup) and follow with a face wash

TragicMuse · 18/02/2026 14:50

Thanks @OvaHere and @keepincool I might have a look at what’s on offer in SNK!

Talking of blue eye shadows - I'm mesmerised by Keeley Hawes eye makeup in Ashes to Ashes - real 80's blue eyeshadow and liner (it probably helps that she is beautiful). I've started off with a blue eye pencil, but may need to purchase a blue eye palette to go with it.

@AddictedtobeautyI have the Sarah Chapman one and I do like it. I chose it as an upgrade from normal hot water infused with chamomile bowl and towel over head combo after having a break from steaming. Old school and not very fashionable I thought but I do really really like to incorporate this step. I chose this particular one because I think Sarah Chapman ‘s products are brilliant so I trust the brand. I don’t know anything about the other ones you mentioned.
I would say it would be sensible to buy it brand new from a store so you know it is safe, clean and working well. Flannels have sales on Sarah Chapman every now and then. I imagine other stores do as well.

BlueLimes · 18/02/2026 14:58

@TragicMuse I like the superfacialist cleansing oil, Elemis balm (or similar) followed by a cleanser like Dermalogica, CeraVe, Kate S.

LoveLabradors · 18/02/2026 15:08

@keepincool i have hazel green eyes and similar skin and hair colour as Keeley (sadly that is where the similarity ends 🤣) and I’ve always liked blues. They make me look more awake and eyes bigger. I like greens and greys too. I’ve struggled at times to find cool blue toned palettes so it’s good to see a choice again. Chanel had a cool blues and pinks quad many years ago and when they discontinued it I spent ages trying to track them down on eBay. The new denim quad is pretty similar but I can’t justify it as have other blues to use.

LoveLabradors · 18/02/2026 15:11

@keepincool my fave blue shade )for nights out) is the blue in the Lisa Eldridge sorcery palette. Every single colour in the palette is stunning.

I'm off to look...

JoRaRaRa · 18/02/2026 15:17

I have brown hair and eyes, so I've never gone for blues before. Well, apart from my mum's blue eyeshadow when I was younger. I think it might've been a Bourjois one. I never thought it'd suit me, but I actually really like it.

OvaHere · 18/02/2026 15:19

I'm firmly sitting on my hands over the two new chanel palettes. It's just so expensive and I splurged on Nuit Astrale (image attached) last autumn which has some similar shades so not at all justifiable.

It is isn’t it! OH, and they’ve send me 20% off too! Decision made I think!

Oh you can’t argue with that! 😃

@Thelifeofawife I have a JL gift card which I'm saving for the Summer BB if they have one. I thought the one from last year was a good one:

https://beauty-detective.com/john-lewis-the-summer-heroes-box-2025/

I had a couple of their winter ones and they were great! In all honesty I still have a few products to use from them, but I’ll get around to it eventually 🤭

TragicMuse · 18/02/2026 16:09

The Jarrolds Mother’s Day is edit is sold out in store too!

Addictedtobeauty · 18/02/2026 16:09

Thanks @Branster.U appreciate the reply. I have the Sarah Chapman in my basket on CB - I think it’s what I’ll end up going with. Otherwise I’ll always hanker after it. Plus discount codes work so cost wise, it’s very reasonable.
