00s over plucked eyebrows

Those who were unfortunate enough to do the 00s overplucked eyebrows… what are you doing with them now? Can I buy a serum or something to try and save them and miraculously grow them back? Or what beauty treatments should I consider?

I had exactly the same problem. Over plucking and menopause left me with hardly any body hair at all. So decided on microblading. I have been really pleased with the result, all be it very expensive. I found it a little painful, but bearable. The top up was worse, but overall, very happy with them.

I use brow mascara - it picks up the pale wispy hairs that I didn’t even realise were there and gives the illusion of full brows.

ManyATrueWord · 29/01/2026 15:01

I never overplucked but the natural gaps in my eyebrows meant any shaping ended up in thin brows. I have invested in hyperealistic nano brows and they are wonderful. It's a real confidence boost for me. I don't look like I am wearing makeup when I am not, which is good.

Handeyethingyowl · 29/01/2026 15:06

I have rubbish brows by nature (as well as 00s overplucking) so both dye mine and use an eyebrow pencil (Rimmel, for decades). I’d not hesitate to get microblading if I felt the need because I know how important it is to feel happy with one’s eyebrows!

mamatoTails · 29/01/2026 15:11

I don’t think the eyebrow pencils can save mine anymore! I’ve looked at microblading but also came across nano brows which looks like a good option too.

UKbrow serum fixed mine

Dollymylove · 29/01/2026 15:16

1970s teenage overplucker here. I still have thin light wispy bits, I go to a a beauty salon to have them dyed, it surprising how good they look when they are done 😀

doggostepping · 29/01/2026 15:23

I got mine microbladed. Need them topping up every 2 years but it was a good solution.

Same here.

I’m biding my time. They’ll be back

EveryKneeShallBow · 29/01/2026 15:52

I’m 63 so my thin brows are age related. But I started putting castor oil on them at bedtime, just a thin smear. It’s definitely helped make them darker and thicker, though I still use Trinny London brow mascara whenever I’m wearing makeup.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 29/01/2026 15:54

Get a spool brush and some mens minoxidil
...

But be careful if there are pets in the house!

Way cheaper and less painful!!!

Lazydomestic · 29/01/2026 15:54

Another one for microblading - if the roots were pulled out / damaged there is no growing back

WhitsunWedding · 29/01/2026 15:58

I’ve tried all the serums to no avail.

What has really worked for me is daily derma rollering followed by 5% minoxidil brushed through with a spoolie. It took a few weeks but they’re getting positively thick now.

Goldfsh · 29/01/2026 15:58

I use eyebrow dye. It's very easy. My DDs showed me how. We never used to have this stuff but you just brush it on and five mins later any wisps are nice and obvious.

Periperi2025 · 29/01/2026 16:01

I use Eylure eyebrow dye which is great for bulking them up if you have some fair/ grey hairs there, but have also considered microblading, I just don't have the budget currently.

goodnightssleepbenice · 29/01/2026 16:05

I have the benefits brow brush with 3 prong brush bits on it , my eyebrow hairs could literally be counted I barely have any unfortunately 😩

Pepperedpickles · 29/01/2026 16:08

I just use a Rimmel brow pencil and fill them in and then brush them out / smudge the pencil to make them look more natural. I’ve thought about having them microbladed but then I think the shape of eyebrows changes so much I’d had to be stuck with something permanently.

ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer · 29/01/2026 16:13

I was a 00s overplucker! In 2020 I had mine microbladed and it was the best decision I ever made!

Shakespearandi · 29/01/2026 16:22

I used to have mine microbladed. Had it done every 1- 1.5 years. Then I left it for a bit longer as didn't have the funds for it. The ink turned red. The red "tattoo"is still visible, 3.5 years since I last had them done.
I'll have them done again to cover up the red background once I have the funds available..
I've been using pencils and it's fine to fill in.
I think a lot of people who overplucked in the 90's, are now also at the age of aging thinning eyebrows.

Would you mind sharing where you had your brows done please?

my chin hairs did not get that memo. Daily battle. (Thanks again, peri)

Sending solidarity on the 00s eye brows op. Like a pp said, the thin brow is overdue a comeback, and when it does, I'll be ready.

mamatoTails · 29/01/2026 20:51

Thanks all, I’ll research all options / products.
do we really think the thin eyebrows will ever make a comeback?

Eyebrow pencil works for me but I still think if I had to choose, I'd go for the over plucked look than the massive slugs above the eye look that seems to be popular today!

I tell myself that they will.

I think tweezers should be like getting married/driving/buying a house, only after 18 and with some kind of a license or certificate. And if you try to buy them at superdrug using your big sister's ID they will call your parents and they'll have a word with you about how in 20 years your eyebrows will thank them.
