What would you do with a pristine mulberry Bayswater?

I got a mulberry Bayswater in early 2009 which has been kept in pristine condition. It’s in its dust bag etc, am pretty sure the receipt is around too. I’m not sure if I will go back to using it - I have 2 young children so I don’t want to wreck it. Would you save this on the off chance one of your children want it in the future? Is it worth selling it? Just came across it in storage a few days ago and have been thinking about it, it’s moved house with me 7 times and not really been used it that time which seems wild.

I’d save it for my daughter I think.

YourWinter · 26/01/2026 23:25

My daughters wouldn’t want anything I’d used, but I’d let them sell it.

Btowngirl · 26/01/2026 23:29

@W0tnow I have 2 daughters so wondering if I need to find another nice bag for fairness…

@YourWinter really, how come? Even if in great condition?

Why wouldn’t you use it?
Your kids won’t be young forever, it’s a classic bag. Use it when you go out now, and more in the future.

TattiePants · 27/01/2026 00:20

I have 2 Bayswaters, both in pristine condition. I didn’t use them much when the DCs were small but I use them quite often now. I’d keep hold of it for the future and then pass it on to one of your DDs.

TremblingMolars · 27/01/2026 00:24

I would test the market and see if I would get a good sale price for it.

Purplecatshopaholic · 27/01/2026 00:26

Surely at some point in future you’ll get back to using such a great classic bag? If defo not, then sell it.

Aluna · 30/01/2026 16:30

Just sell it your daughters may not like it.

PrimaniTu · 30/01/2026 16:35

I have one too and haven’t used mine for ages as my work is now casual and it looks too formal. It’s also quite heavy too.

I’m definitely going to sell it this year. Either to a dress agency or on Vestiare. I know wherever I’ll sell it they’ll take quite a bit of commission for it but it’s better than sitting in my house unused.

WhitsunWedding · 30/01/2026 16:39

I can’t see the point of having it and not using it. It’s not special enough to keep.

I’d sell it. I am on my second bayswater. When the first one got utterly knackered through daily use for years, I sold it to mulberry who gave me around £300 iirc to put towards another.

I’m not someone who uses a bag much these days, but I do use it as hand luggage when I fly.

ParisianLady · 30/01/2026 16:41

I’d use it, why save it? I’ve got 3 kids and use mine regularly for day to day use. Why would your daughters damage it? No need to hide it away, just use it and love it. Or otherwise sell it but it seems a shame

Petrine · 30/01/2026 16:43

I would use it. The Bayswater is built to last and I don’t see why it should get wrecked due to you having small children. I think it would be perfect as you can fit so much into it. Enjoy your bag.

Hotpants123 · 30/01/2026 16:46

Selling on vinted you might get £250 for it, if oak or a brown colour maybe a bit more.
I have bought 2 Bayswaters in good condition for £200 each.
So I would use it or sell it.

museumum · 30/01/2026 22:22

Why not use it? I mean I guess if you’re in a roka backpack era it might not suit your lifestyle but it’s a classic, you’ll have use for it again sometime. Was it a gift? Did you never like it?

PeonyBulb · 30/01/2026 23:53

My DD loves wearing my old clothes, boots, bags etc she finds in the loft that I managed to keep. I’d keep hold of it.

ThatNattyPlayer · 31/01/2026 07:07

I have a brand new one in dust bag with matching purse and cosmetic bag, put it on Vinted and only offer I got was £100 for the lot, I’m keeping it all on the off chance my teen daughter may want it when she’s older.
I was surprised as it’s not a strange colour so I thought I’d get £300 maybe for it all

bumptybum · 31/01/2026 07:12

YourWinter · 26/01/2026 23:25

My daughters wouldn’t want anything I’d used, but I’d let them sell it.

How old are your dds? My 19 year old dd takes everything of mine 😂 especially covets my Chanel and LVs which is great in the case of the LVs are they were not getting any use. She also steals my jackets

luckylavender · 31/01/2026 07:15

I had one. They are far too heavy. Bad for my back.

Queenage · 31/01/2026 07:17

I gave mine to one daughter the other week. I had 2 bags I didn’t use - a Bayswater and an Anthony. I let them choose. I kept my Alexa as I still use that one 🤣

nondrinker1985 · 31/01/2026 07:36

they were so popular back then, I wonder if they’re a bit heavy now. As mulberry leather is so heavy. Perhaps just keep it and sell it at some point?

Squirrelchops1 · 31/01/2026 07:39

Sell it and stick the money in a junior isa for them.

Furlane · 31/01/2026 07:39

I’d either sell it or use it. I don’t see why it would get ruined? I sold mine as I’ve gone off that style of bag. I wouldn’t bother keeping it for one of your daughters.

WendyFromTransvisionWamp · 31/01/2026 07:41

I used to love Bayswaters but they are heavy bastards!

I sold mine through www.npnbags.com I would contact her for a quote if it’s in a pristine condition.

Wolmando · 31/01/2026 07:44

I would probably sell it if it's heavy, your daughters may not want to tote around a big heavy bag whatever brand it is. Much cheaper but I gave a large leather Barbour bag to charity because of the weight

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 31/01/2026 07:46

Id sell because i hate that bag! Its heavy and awkward imo.
But I have a 3 and 2 yr old and use expensive bags all the time
If you love it just use it!
