Today is the day I start fixing my face!

2026 New Year’s resolution is sort the face!

All the kids out the way and a year post partum. I look like I have crawled out of being in Victorian prison house for a decade. Self neglect has been real! Forehead wrinkles, pores, texture, elevenses. Only 35! A complete disaster.

So the face plan…

  • I am taking 11000mg Zooki collagen sachets
  • One other vitamin or electrolyte satchet a day for the next month (came as a free trial bundle with the collagen)
  • Drinking an extra 1L a day of water as I think chronically dehydrated.
  • Signed up to skin+me so awaiting that
  • I do like Elizabeth Arden hot cloth cleanser so using that atm; although have some freebies with skin+me
  • order frownies tomorrow
  • wear spf50 every day and potentially get a fringe.

If this fails and no improvement in 6 months then I am getting Botox or lasering.

Anyone else aiming for a skincare revolution this year?

@Fixingmyface if your skin is on the dry side I definitely wouldn't use a full on cleanser in the morning. I know plenty of people that say to just use water for the morning cleanse.... I prefer micellar water on a cotton pad as I have it anyway for double cleansing when I need to remove makeup in the evening.

Thank you, that is good to know!

Also do not apply around the nose and mouth

What’s not going around nose and mouth?

I feel like maybe I put tret to close to my eye. It’s still being weird. I have just picked up some oral magnesium sachets as apparently that can fix it.

Bloody hell I feel like this needs to come with more instructions!

Mole remover pen-is that safe?

I can't guarantee it's safe... I did actually use it on a horrible senile wart that I have. It basically burnt the wart off. I wouldn't want to tackle a proper mole with it unless I got it (the mole) checked with the doctor first.

Hmm I’d actually advise the opposite. Micellar water is drying and can create fine lines. Far better to use a proper cleanser morning and night.

I’ve had much better results since I pared back my skincare routine. I do use The Ordinary retinol though.

I find if I use too many serums eg a coffee UpCircle one my skin is then too greasy.

Cherrytree86 · 27/01/2026 20:32

drinking so much water isn’t compatible with stuff like having a job where you can’t just keep going for a piss all the time

Cherrytree86 · 27/01/2026 20:34

Also don’t be afraid to just go for Botox anyway, OP - it’s brilliant!

Tret, it can (and often does) trigger perioral dermatitis when used in that area.

Right, tret shouldn't be used in that area.

Freepaintjob · 28/01/2026 15:54

So how do you anti age your eye area?

Fixingmyface · 28/01/2026 16:28

Gosh it’s a lot more complicated than I thought!

Yes it is

I got myself a sarah chapman steamer recently (2nd hand). I really like it. I’ve been debating getting one for years. Used my cheap glycolic mask a couple of times. Want to get something from medik 8 but not sure what. I liked their vitamin c a few years ago but wasn’t keen on their hyalorinic acid. I felt like it dried my skin out. This is always my problem with skin care then i stop using things.

Taking collagen doesn’t work you need a healthy diet. It’s a waste of money.

redyellowgreenandblue · 30/01/2026 19:44

I started the nutrition geeks collagen powder, one bag in and I can feel a difference definitely my skin is much plumper. I have it in a vanilla latte that way it doesn't taste, it's horrible in a normal coffee. Also trying to be consistent with skincare daily, started using cerave spf 50 daily moisturiser a couple of years ago now and that's part of my morning routine it's just evenings I fall short.

I’ve read the same. Apparently it’s vitamin C that’s essential- it’s a critical factor for collagen synthesis.

I agree. Healthy diet is the most important thing and then comes everything else.
