Today is the day I start fixing my face!

2026 New Year’s resolution is sort the face!

All the kids out the way and a year post partum. I look like I have crawled out of being in Victorian prison house for a decade. Self neglect has been real! Forehead wrinkles, pores, texture, elevenses. Only 35! A complete disaster.

So the face plan…

  • I am taking 11000mg Zooki collagen sachets
  • One other vitamin or electrolyte satchet a day for the next month (came as a free trial bundle with the collagen)
  • Drinking an extra 1L a day of water as I think chronically dehydrated.
  • Signed up to skin+me so awaiting that
  • I do like Elizabeth Arden hot cloth cleanser so using that atm; although have some freebies with skin+me
  • order frownies tomorrow
  • wear spf50 every day and potentially get a fringe.

If this fails and no improvement in 6 months then I am getting Botox or lasering.

Anyone else aiming for a skincare revolution this year?

I’m couldn’t stand the nutrition geeks collagen. It was the smell. I like the will
powders one as it has no smell/taste!

Omg yes it is blurgh 😫

I have found out mixing it with thick orange juice is the best way I found so far. On day two 🤪

How's your diet?!

Fixingmyface · 20/01/2026 12:44

Also doing the electrolytes in 1.5L jug today. I will drink it all!

Weirdly I woke up super thirsty this morning. Which is strange because yesterday I defo drunk way more water than I usually do!

Pretty good I think. My main issue is years of sun damage from working outdoors with a middle part and not wearing spf unless it’s sun burn levels of hot.

Smoking also bad. Caffeine high. Not enough water!

And no skin care regime!

But food pretty good. Low UPF, Not enough variety of veg. Probably 20 different a week but defo more than 5 a day. Just not the variety weekly if that makes sense.

Got my skin+me prescription sent through on email.

Is this any good?

Month 2: Tretinoin 0.009%, Niacinamide 4%, Azelaic Acid 4%
Month 3: Tretinoin 0.012%, Niacinamide 4%, Azelaic Acid 4%
Month 4: Tretinoin 0.015%, Niacinamide 4%, Azelaic Acid 4%

I think that looks fine I like the way they build it up gradually. I think you also get some freebies with the first order and they're all very nice as well although I haven't actually ever ordered the full price items.

Looking after my skin yes, I'm in but I'll give the collagen a miss though, I personally think it's a cleverly marketed waste product and would rather eat real food.

Tretinoin and SPF are both very good and would also recommend the current body mask and dermal needling.

Ooo derma needling! At home? Or salon and if so what products or service? Thank you! X

Skincare and supplements are a waste of time and energy. Just get the Botox, it’s amazing and gives 10 times the improvement instantly. Get some classic eyelashes too. Those two things took 15 yrs off me and I barely need makeup at all now.

Certainly not against the idea of Botox!

But no I do think I need to look at the base stuff first. I think the last two days have proved that the neglect was real! I swear my face already looks 50% better and that’s just from washing and moisturising twice a day and actually drinking enough water.

Weirdly again today woke up super thirsty! This is very strange. Also sleeping better.

And also being post partum/ post breast feeding I think I am probably quite depleted vitamin wise.

Skin+me is really good I’ve been using it for 5 months. They start low with the tret and increase it every month.

I have a code to get your first one for £3.50 and if you stay in your fifth one will be £3.50 too.

I’ve never really bothered with my face but I’m turning 42 this year and getting a bit anxious about it. I’ve started taking Wild + Brave Marine Collagen. I’ve also started a whole array of new products. My skin is definitely looking better but now I can’t pinpoint what is doing it! 😅

GameOfJones · 21/01/2026 15:09

I'm 38 and decided to overhaul my skincare around 6 months ago and actually start making an effort. Personally Botox isn't for me so I'm making the best of what I've got.

My skin is SO much better with a basic routine, but done daily. I think keeping it consistent and simple so you'll stick to it year in and year out is absolutely key.

It's hard to pin down but I think the changes that have made the biggest difference to me are a Vitamin C serum and SPF every morning, acid toner every other night and drinking more water. My skin is definitely brighter than it used to be.

wannanamechange · 21/01/2026 16:21

I want to fix my face too. My skincare regime is already good, so I plan to;

  • Drink more water
  • Use my dermastamp on old acne scars
  • Finally work out how to apply my Tatti lashes
  • Be brave and try my mole remover pen on my age spots

I had it done in a media spa in 2019 a few times and then I bought a Derminator 2.0 for use at home. I Just use a pure hyaluronic acid for slip mostly but if doing at 0.25 I will use peptides / TNS Serum after.

Nutmuncher · 22/01/2026 07:54

OP it’s time to Stop the smoking. Literally undoes any progress from everything else. When have you ever seen a healthy glowing smoker?

VenusClapTrap · 22/01/2026 09:27

I used to go for regular facials (Caci) and used glycolic acid and stuff. Then life got very busy and all that fell by the wayside for a couple of years. Didn’t notice any deterioration in my face as a result. Plus I became friends with a beautician who told me Caci type facials are just a gimmick.

But age is catching up with me and I need to make more effort, so following this with the aim of improving my fairly basic routine. I think I’ll go back to The Ordinary glycolic, and seek out a decent serum.

I won’t be wasting my money on collagen though as I think it’s bollocks. I’m sceptical of most supplements to be honest, although I might have a go at magnesium because my sleep is awful. I’d like to avoid being ripped off though - every time I look on any supplement websites the whiff of snake oil puts me off.

VenusClapTrap · 22/01/2026 09:29

Oh one thing I can thoroughly recommend is UKLash eyelash serum. That has made a visible difference, especially when coupled with a lift and tint.

Chataigne · 22/01/2026 09:30

That akin + me prescription is exactly what they gave me, and my DD in her 20s!

I’ve got good skin albeit a bit shiny. Now 41 and very few wrinkles but more than I would like. I’ve tried all the serums/acids/cleansing routines, to try and hold onto a good thing but honestly, I would suggest doing less - I’ve thrown out masses of expensive things and stick with:

Drink more water and much less alcohol

Face wash - I use cerave blemish control

Day moisturiser with SPF40 - Murad oil and pore control - this is my favourite product ever, I wear SPF whatever the weather as it’s an all in one

Night Oil - L’occataine

(and obviously never smoke or vape)

I love L’occataine products

I am embracing the dark nights to pamper myself and have spa nights after the gym and my "everything" shower 3 nights a week. Last night it was 30mins LED mask with teeth whitening strips. Also used Lumea and some foot masks.
Next spa night will be a pedicure and serum sheet mask.

Where are you getting your whitening strips? I love them but worry about buying something dodgy and putting on my teeth!

Fundays12 · 23/01/2026 08:39

This is all a good start but also look into microdemobrasians and microneedling as the results can be fantastic if you have a few treatments. Microneedling goes into the derma layers of your skin and reboots collagen production so is far longer lasting than botox. Just be careful to ensure the person doing it is very qualified and experienced. Both of these have massively reduced my lines on my forehead and small lines. Peptide treatments under the eyes are good to.

I buy the official crest ones (the crest strips work the best but not for sale in UK) from Amazon US. I wouldn't get any dodgy ones or waste your money on UK strips that don't actually work.
