What do you wear to keep warm?

Being short and curvy, I don't like wearing bulky things. However, I'm always cold - am a very cold person!
Whether I wearing jeans and a top or a pretty dress, I am always cold!
I've thought about wearing a think l/s top or cami underneath but worry that I might get too hot. Invariably I end up spoiling a lovely look by wearing a great big cardi.
So - how do I keep warm and stay stylish?

I always wear a cami top under all my clothes in the cold weather months. I never wear just a bra with a top over it, the cami top keeps my back covered if anything rides up.

I think it goes back to my mum who always asked whether I was wearing a vest when a teenager and going out dancing in a thin top.

Obviously I wasn't back then but I'm much, much older now and it keeps me warm to have that extra bit of covering on my back these days. 😆

I swear by Brora thermals as a base layer, as they're pretty & warm. Followed by a Cashmere jumper/Cardi and a Uniqlo puffertech gilet. The gilet makes a big difference & the neckline can be adjusted so it's hidden under coats. An alternative to the Uniqlo gilet is a faux sheepskin/faux fur gilet. I find these surprisingly warm & the right ones can be worn under a coat.

I dont go out much so I wear a maxi hoodie type thing. It's OK to go to the bins in. If I am going out I wear a tshirt, a jumper or sweatshirt and a warm coat.

Uniqlo heat tech shirts under flannel shirts or hand knit sweaters made from wool or alpaca. I find alpaca warmer than cashmere.

I bought a couple of the Heat Tech cashmere blend shirts and they were very lightweight but they didn't do very well keeping me warm.

Heat Tech leggings under jeans or pants if that cold.

I have a couple of big wool hand knit shawls that I can wrap around myself.

I make my wool hats and mittens and socks and slippers too.

Outside it's North Face Nuptse.

I pu buffalo wool insoles into my boots, they keep my feet really warm.

As others have said - layers.

But also, think about your pulse points. Keep them covered.
A scarf, is an amazing way of keeping the body warm, and of course easy to take off if you go somewhere heated to a higher temperature.

Think about not having 'gaps'. So wear socks that cover your ankles and don't leave a gap between the bottom of your trousers and your socks. Wear vest or t-shorts or other under layers that are long enough to cover your bum / tuck into your trousers. Wear tops that either have a warm collar or have a hood, or if they don't have either, then wear a scarf. Even more of a 'fashion scarf' than a woolly one makes a huge difference to keeping warm.

Cami top then jumper coat scarf gloves basically layer of the clothes I have that I can back track and remove.
Primark thermal socks too.

@BogRollBOGOF thank you! You are right it is the tight fitting top that really causes an issue. Love strappy tops and shirts but a bit chilly for this time of year!

You've absolutely got to wear a vest! Need that close to the skin layer to stay warm. A tank top style under everything, October to April. I really hate a draughty torso!
Not the stretchy sleeved underlayers though, sweaty pit central. Unless youre not going to be active at all that day.

I also double jumper everyday (thinner one underneath). But I do feel the cold.
