It’s dawned on me that I don’t have a curvy figure and am actually like a square box. Is it possible to have a big ribcage or something? I can never find a bra to fit me

Im 5 foot 2 and a half, weigh 9 stone 8 and am a size 10. But I always look so dumpy in photos - see proof - and wondered if anyone had any styling tips for my specific body type ? Thanks!

Like here with my son. I think it’s actually my clothes that are all wrong for me

I think that style jeans only really look good on people with big bottoms. Are they called 'mum' jeans or 'boyfriend' or something? I have your sort of figure but taller and they wouldn't work for me either. I think you probably look better in wide leg jeans. I think they are the best trouser fit on me.

The OP really doesn't look like she needs to lose weight from her waist at all. I'm a similar weight (well, pre-Christmas anyway...) and significantly taller so you would think I'd be slimmer but I have far more flab around my middle than the OP, who doesn't look like she has any midriff excess. Different people carry their weight very differently.

Wow - you look amazing in your sweaty betty kit. If only skinnies were in as they clearly would really suit you. I would channel the Princess of Wales look you clearly have her physique. Also have a look at Trinny Woodall - a similar shape but without your long legs.

For what its worth at one point I weighed 9 st at 5ft 5 and was a size 4 so weight and size have nothing to do with each other. IME rectangles and inverted triangles carry their weight better than hourglasses and apples so I'd just ignore the other poster she just wanted to show off about her own weight and this is not the thread for that. You have a great figure and can ignore the cattiness.

I think you look bloody lovely in all those outfits! You've got a fantastic figure!

Just wear them anyway. If the current fashion doesn't suit your figure, don't wear it.

Just had Anastasiagerrans pop up on my Facebook, she is taller than you but shows how to dress for a rectangle shape, some great ideas. Maybe an Instagram search too, I get so much fashion inspiration from Instagram now. Sorry if already mentioned, not read whole thread.

I am not sure why people are saying you don’t look good in jeans, I think they look good. Maybe I have no fashion sense 😬.

I am a similar shape to you, 5ft 3 and a size 12 petite. I struggle with trousers and jeans but I have both wide leg and straight leg. Wide leg seem to make me look shorter and make my bum look bigger. I struggle with bra’s too as I have a wide back and small/average boobs (C cup), I don’t feel I have much shape and feel like a triangle. I find it hard to find clothes that fit in the right places.
