Like Dr Martens but better!

I have some Dr Martens Chelsea style boots which I love. Love the shape and the fit however, in the winter they don’t keep my toes warm. I’ve tried fleece liners but they are too thick so make the boots uncomfortable. Are there any brands that are similar in style but would actually keep my feet warm?

Have you tried Doc Socks- thick socks made by Dr Martens and are really comfortable and cozy?

Thursday Boot Company do a Chelsea boot with plenty of room in the instep.

I know what you mean about Docs being too tight with insoles, I have the same problem with my 1460 and Sinclair boots.

My two penneth: don't go anywhere near DMs now. The quality is appalling. I had a pair of chelsea boots this year. Within 6 months, both boots had cracks in the leather. My feet literally got wet in the rain.

As with PP I ordered some DMs recently - a winter pair, was shocked at the price but replacing some mulched loved well worn older ones but the inside lines was put in incorrectly and they unwearable . . .

so I’m following this now for good alternatives!

Another vote for the double layered Doc socks. Expensive but worth it. Schuh sometimes have packs of three on offer.

The Birkenstock Highwood is really comfortable, has a good sized toe box and you can pick the type of insole. They come with the blue inside but you can change it for a shearling one. Being Birkenstock, they have a layer of cork within the sole structure which insulates from the cold.

If you suffer from cold feet, try a pair of thermal liner socks under a pair of wool socks. I like Bridgedale.

I have some new-ish Westland by Josef Siebel boots which seems pretty cosy so far, and extremely comfortable. They're 'vegan' leather though, if that's an issue for you.

Rieker. I have 2 pairs, 1 pair black plain ones and 1 are like DM cherry reds. But they are comfy from the first second!

I don’t know if you’ll like these, but I do - Solovair seems to be the go-to here, but I’m not a fan, I don’t like the toe box or heel construction.

I need my boots to be smooth, wide toed, warm and waterproof. Some people might not think these are fashionable enough but here they are anyway: Revel Road Chelsea Boot

search for “foil insoles”, I can wear thin plastic soled wellies with these foil backed insoles, in frosty garden letting out chickens & not feel the frozen ground under my boots. ebay seem to have for only couple of £, so definitely worth a try before shelling out on new martens replacements?

Rieker boots are a good call. They are comfy.
I have very thin but long feet. They are quite annoying!
I like the house of burar ones too. Need to have a proper look at Solovair later

DD had Riekers for school. They lsdted a term. The leather is very thin.

Docs are rubbish now. I last bought a pair about 8 years ago and they were not even remotely waterproof. Walking through long grass in the winter for a few mins and my feet were soaked. DM's reply is that their boots are not sold as waterproof, unless pay for the even more pricy ones but invited me to buy their dubbin, at further cost for the stitching! Wow, who'd expect winter boots not to do the job intended?
