Jones Road Miracle Balm anyone?

I treated myself to this a while ago. I rediscovered it amongst my stuff the other day. I tried it and realised why I'd forgotten about it. I quite like the colour match (mine is Dusty Rose) but it's so weirdly solid, awkward to apply and the scent is unappealing.

Have I got a bad batch? I'm I doing something wrong? In the photo it looked thick and creamy; more like a foundation you might find in a tub.

Anyone else got any thoughts?

No, it's not a bad batch it really is just shit. I also had Dusty Rose. It was weirdly both sticky and greasy at the same time. It's basically uber expensive, glittery Vaseline that smells like loo freshener. No matter how many times I tried to apply it or how many tutorials I watched I always just ended up with 2 hectic, consumptive patches on my cheeks.

This is my experience to a T @Arraminta .

I bought it too- a sort of tan colour which was supposed to give a golden glow. I hung onto it for ages as it was expensive but chucked it in the end out as it was so awful- greasy and just sat on my skin highlighting every flaw. It's completely put me off the brand.

Om83 · 14/12/2025 19:28

Thanks for posting this as I have been looking at this for months trying to decide whether to take the plunge!! I’ll give it a miss!!

ThePoshUns · 14/12/2025 19:31

I’ve got the dusty rose one too and was using it as a blusher, stopped using as so sticky and greasy. Wouldn’t recommend

I'm not surprised, sadly. Even DD1, who is a dab hand at make up and was always the one doing all her friend's make up before a night out, couldn't make it look good on me. Then she tried it on her (perfectly smooth 21 year old) complexion but had to admit defeat.

Massively overpriced glittery gloop.

Sadteacher · 14/12/2025 20:11

And how do you even apply it with long nails?! I sort of stick my knuckle in! I was gifted mine by a friend who said she was complimented for her amazing glowing complexion every time she wore it.

Marylou2 · 14/12/2025 20:20

Definitely not a bad batch. IMO it's just a dreadful product. Vaguely pink lard.

Prelim · 14/12/2025 20:27

Hate it! I threw it out, well two of them actually as I bought a different one thinking it would be better!

Gatekeeper · 14/12/2025 20:30

I love mine! Dusty Rose one...makes me look all glowy. You only need the tiniest smidge though

Bellebelleagain · 14/12/2025 20:34

I really like mine. I’ve got tawny and it warms my skin up, same effect as a bronzer with a bit more of a glow. I really don’t use much at all though, a tiny bit goes a long way.

WendyFromTransvisionWamp · 14/12/2025 20:34

I buy very little make-up but fell for this one as I liked the idea of a subtle glow. I can’t get on with it at all, just thick gloop. What a disappointment and waste of money.

rubyslippers · 14/12/2025 20:36

Hated this product and could not get on with it
Made me look sweaty and shiny and hated the texture and smell
don’t understand the hype around it at all

PinkPhonyClub · 16/12/2025 15:22

I tried it in a store and did not see the appeal at all

user593 · 16/12/2025 16:52

I haven’t bought it as I read lots of mixed reviews but a similar(ish) product I love is Merit Flush Balm. Can’t recommend it enough!

sundayvibeswig22 · 16/12/2025 17:04

I didn’t like it either. Really greasy and shiny.

HensPensLens21 · 16/12/2025 17:07

I am also disappointed with mine, having bought into the hype. The colour is ok once on but to get it on involves vigorously rubbing it onto my face so I end up flushed and can’t tell for an hour or so how it will actually look!

tobee · 16/12/2025 17:11

Oh right that's interesting. Although I think the smell is what's putting me off most actually.

If I still don't get on with it after digging down (bet that gets stuck under the finger nails!) I'll chuck it. It's ridiculous to worry about throwing it out just because of the price. Sunk costs and all that!

CountFucula · 16/12/2025 17:12

Oh. I love mine! I have flushed and bronzed and really rate them!

tobee · 16/12/2025 17:12

Wish I'd tried it in store @PinkPhonyClub

That sounds worth me looking into @user593

It’s different from Vaseline as Vaseline is a petroleum based jelly. JRMB is a concoction of high quality oils. Castor Seed, Jojoba, Argan etc and beeswax.

I hated it on my face. It never dries down or sinks in enough so it remains tacky. Unless it’s one of the newer high pigment ones the pigment was useless. To get any colour you’d have to apply an unread in able amount and it would be tacky and oily.

i use mine for my cuticles, heels in bed under sock, ti slick down fluffy hairs, that sort of thing. It never goes down. I just want it used up

FourBlackCats · 16/12/2025 18:21

I (unexpectedly) really like it, but I do have really dry skin. Agree it doesn’t smell great.

JulesGeebee · 20/12/2025 08:32

i love it but as others have said you need to dig your finger in and move it around so it softens up. I don’t find it all greasy more dewy and it last for ages so great value too.

JulesGeebee · 20/12/2025 08:34

Ps I do have short finger nails though and can imagine it might be awkward with long nails

Cremeul · 20/12/2025 08:53

Horrible stuff! I got sucked in by a FB ad. Stays tacky so that your hair sticks to your face in a most unappealing way at the slightest hint of a breeze and smells as if it’s been open for about 3 years and gone off. That’s reminded me - it’s still sitting in my bathroom cupboard. Must bin it!
