If you get gel nails done professionally, how much do you pay? Just basic nails.

Mine averages out to about £38 per visit but she does a good job. I'm wondering if that is normal?

North Liverpool based and pay £26 for BIAB. She doesn't charge extra for nail art. I've currently got just the pink builder gel on with some glitter at the tips. Understated sparkle!

My nail girl is brilliant and my nails easily last 5 weeks.

Bookaholic73 · 06/12/2025 09:49

£32 (I’m in Devon) and worth every penny.

£43 for basic gel in the South Wales valleys. Cheapest basic nails for miles is £40. I bought a set of Sistaco mineral powders about 18 months ago and I haven't gone to a salon since. I wouldn't begrudge the £43 for a good job but they were sloppy.

I keep eyeing that up but they are all the colours shimmery?

25€ for first set , then 20€ every three weeks

IndieRocknRoll · 06/12/2025 20:46

£40 for removal, BIAB and nail art. Usually takes around 1hr 15 mins & I get about a month out of them. Worth every penny even though it’s expensive!

Fatmumslim01 · 06/12/2025 21:32

I pay £25 for biab and go every 3 weeks, sometimes 4.

It's just one lady and she only does plain colours or french, no nails art etc but that's not my style anyway. I alternate between plain colour and french.

I think that's quite a good price, takes around 45 mins.

moneyadviceplease · 06/12/2025 21:41

£27 for gels no extensions no designs

MyTrivia · 06/12/2025 21:42

£26 but that includes any nail art or fancy bits (which I always have) ☺️

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 06/12/2025 23:54

£50 including removal. That’s in north Essex.

User5306921 · 07/12/2025 00:07

For those with Biab how are your nails? Not to derail the thread, my local salon does them for 50 (a chain but not cheap).

I went to a different nail salon (more who told me not to go near Biab as they ruin nails, particularly the removal. I was surprised as its repeat business really but she said not to go near them as they do so much damage over time.

I tend to switch between neutrals and dark or bright red. I dont like fussy nails however I went a bit giddy last week and have something like this but in dark blue with silver glitter and much, much, much shorter nails. I like it but it's a bit out there for me. 🤣

£27 and that includes an eyebrow wax.

Adore my nail lady, she will be doing my nails on my deathbed. She has seen me through a divorce, two marriages and two children.

Current nails have grown out a bit, so I’ll see her next week.

I thought BIAB was supposed to be less harsh than the other way (gels? - I'm not an expert but getting 'something' done to my nails professionally is on my to do list as I thought I'd read that BIAB was a good way to get out of the habit of nail biting).

Anyway, the salon near me charges <consults FB page> £31 for a gel manicure or £36.50 for BIAB, which it says is a 75 min appointment time. This is one beautician working in a tiny unit in a village on the outskirts of Leeds.

Endoftethermum1 · 07/12/2025 08:11

£36 for removal, BIAB and polish- charges same for simple art or cats eye etc in
North Yorkshire

SmoothCollie · 05/12/2025 17:18

There is no way a nail tech is being paid NMW on that rate. Is she self employed?

Yes. It’s her own salon. She takes about half an hour to do a set.

CareerConfusion16 · 05/12/2025 17:26

It’s not really that commenter’s problem though is it?

There are trafficked nail bars all over the country. Nothing new!

Titasaducksarse · 07/12/2025 08:42

£30.
I tried Holy Gels for the first time this week. They're semi cured gel wraps that you apply, trim them cured under the uv lamp.
I'm really impressed so far but will need to see how removal goes. If it works out good I'll use them again. Around £7 a set it will work out.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 07/12/2025 10:07

£31 including gel soaking and removal but £5 more for French, Chrome or Cats Eye polish. South Essex.
