I ordered this cardigan. So cosy and warm but the buttons are a lot more sparkly than the photos show. Would you still wear in Jan and Feb? I need to make sure I get my wear out of it for the price.

Yes!

InSpainTheRain · 03/12/2025 23:26

Yes

Fgfgfg · 03/12/2025 23:30

Change the buttons and put the sparkly buttons back on for next Christmas.

OhDear111 · 03/12/2025 23:34

It’s a grey cardi! Hardly special - if that’s what you wanted. Nice wool though. So what are you doing post Christmas? presumably not going to a party!

AutumnLeavesFallingFast · 03/12/2025 23:39

What are you on about ??

it's a grey cardigan.

not a Santa to be seen
nor a Christmas scene
nor an elf/reindeer/snowflake.
nor red/green stripes.

just a plain grey cardigan.

🙄🙄🙄

Ok just wanted a few other opinions, thanks to those who have one.

I think it’s lovely. Raglan sleeves are very flattering. It looks well made and the buttons are festive. I would buy it if it wasn’t so expensive.

Sapphire05 · 04/12/2025 00:16

Thank you @mibbelucieachwell I’ve had my eye on it since last year so had time to save. I hadn’t seen it in real life though.

good idea @Fgfgfg i wish I was better with a needle and thread.

Sewing a button on is very straight forward - and lots of videos on you tube.
My tip is do the buttons one at a time - so don't cut off all the buttons at one, in case you can't see where exactly to sew the new one onto your cardigan, do them one by one.

Also bring or wear the cardigan when you go button shopping, to make sure you get the same size button, it can be very hard to guess the size when faced with a big selection of buttons.

daisychain01 · 04/12/2025 04:41

Honestly, save yourself the bother of stitching other buttons on, anyone would think there's legislation in place to stop people wearing decorative buttons! They aren't even that fancy,

I've got a full on black cardi with silver threads running through it and I wear it all year round. I love it, it lifts my spirit, and ain't nobody gonna stop me, actually I get loads of compliments about it at work.

Schoolstressed · 04/12/2025 04:45

I saw this and tried it on. Agree the buttons are much more sparkly than the photos. The colour didn’t suit me but I really like it. The pink version suited me better but I didn’t like it as much as the blue. You could wear it after Christmas but changing the buttons is a really good idea. I’m rubbish at sewing but can change a button, it’s much easier than you think. The tip about doing one at a time is a great idea.

Marylou2 · 04/12/2025 04:58

Sezane cardigans are a total staple.I know they're expensive and a big treat but the Othello is gorgeous. I'm getting it in red for Christmas. The red doesn't have the beautiful buttons and I'm pretty sure if I love it I'll get the grey at some point too. You'll absolutely wear it all year round. Perfect with trousers or denim.I'm coveting the blue one as well but it's sold out. The Gaspard and Emile cardigans are lovely too.

EdinaTheConfessor · 04/12/2025 05:06

I wear sparkles all year round OP. Most of my winter jumpers have a bit of bling or a sequin and I wear them all the way into the end of winter.

The cardigan is lovely btw.

dudsville · 04/12/2025 07:33

Nice cardio op, and those buttons don't really shout Christmas to me, but if it does get to you just swap the buttons.

Owly11 · 04/12/2025 07:38

Sorry but that is a boring dull grey cardigan, there is nothing remotely christmassy about it. If you like grey go for it.

MyThreeWords · 04/12/2025 07:41

I think the laws restricting sparkly buttons to certain months were repealed last century.
Even before that, they hadn't really been enforced since the Restoration.

purpleme12 · 04/12/2025 07:52

I've got a lovely thick cream sparkly cardi (way more sparkly than this) from next at a fraction of the price. I'll be wearing it any month it's cold enough to wear it

WearyCat · 04/12/2025 07:52

Definitely! I wasn’t keen on the gold buttons on the black cardi but the ones on the grey cardi are really nice. Fabulous choice!

OhDear111 · 04/12/2025 07:55

Why spend that amount of money on a cardigan and then change the buttons! Madness. Add decent jewellery or buy a cardi with sparkles there in the first place! It’s a lovely cardi so maybe wear a silk or lace top under it? Or even a vest with gold and silver threads running through it? Add a silver skirt? There’s some good pleated ones around and that would be very post Christmas as long as your post Christmas isn’t walking the dog.

eatreadsleeprepeat · 04/12/2025 08:20

It is lovely and I think usable not just as Christmas. Very simple and understated apart from the buttons so if you keep the rest of your outfit as simple then the buttons lift it out of boring.
Or save it for best just this winter and after that bring it into more frequent use.

Bestfootforward11 · 04/12/2025 08:34

It’s a lovely cardigan! And every day deserves sparkles! 😁

ProfessionalPirate · 04/12/2025 09:22

Of course, why not. I have that cardi (in rosewood) and wear it whenever. Although I warn you, it’s the itchiest thing in the world!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 04/12/2025 09:23

No. I have heard somewhere that there is imminent legislation being planned regarding the wearing of 'sparkly buttons'.

I own the beige and mocha versions and I don't find them itchy myself. I do, however, find Gaspard and Basile itchy.

I think it's nice op and don't think it's specifically 'Christmasy'. I wouldn't change the buttons.

OldBeyondMyYears · 04/12/2025 11:32

Look at the other colours of that same cardigan OP…you will see a whole range of different buttons. This will give you some ideas for buying an ‘alternative button set’ (never imagined I’d write that as a phrase 😂).

Honestly though, I’d wear it with the sparkles at any time of year…why limit sparkles to just Christmas? 🤷‍♀️
