Best face cream for sensitive skin

I have the worlds worst sensitive skin and stupidly have in to the no 7 saleswoman and spent a ridiculous amount on a night serum and cream, day cream and primer and my skin is not happy! She said I could return if it irritated my skin so going to try to return after work today (I got a foundation too but that seems ok)
what do you all use for your sensitive skin? I’ve tried simple , Aveno, Clinique but none of that works . Help!!

Cetaphil. I’ve tried everything & it’s the only brand that doesn’t irritate my grumpy, sensitive, menopausal skin. I buy the big tubs of moisturiser because it works out cheaper than the smaller tubes of face cream, but the ingredients are basically the same. www.cetaphil.co.uk/moisturisers/moisturising-cream/5020465202096.html

I have a thread about make up remover as have similar skin. My best moisturiser is the Avene Tolerance Skin Recovery balm. It's incredibly hydrating and has few ingredients so doesn't irritate. I used to love the la Roche Posay cicaplast balm but I've give off it a bit as it pills but also doesn't last.

Green People if my skin is being super sensitive.

Oddly though Estée Lauder doesn’t seem to bother me and is lovely to use but pricey. So far I’ve tried the Advanced Night Repair and the Daywear Moisturiser.

I've also found slugging stops me waking up with dry, sore, flakey skin. I've got a fab face oil with sea buckthorn in it which is good but I think the best is the cerave healing ointment in the blue tube.

Aveeno calm and restore range. Cheap as chips. Available on Amazon. I use their oat gel moisturiser to calm my skin but the rest of the range is also good.

Chiefangel · 01/12/2025 09:46

I can’t wear Aveeno or Simple despite the advertising stating they are good for sensitive skin. My face and eyes just really puff up. I’ve found Nivea crème blue tin the best for me.

Turnitoffnonagain · 01/12/2025 09:48

Try something from green people, or another organic range. Fewer harsh ingredients to upset your skin.

Cantonet · 01/12/2025 09:54

Cerave & Clinique Moisture Surge with SPF. Plus I add in Rosehip oil if it's very cold for extra hydration.
Can't wear Cetaphil any more as it's changed & I react to it. Simple is the very worst product for sensitive skin. All my family when they were kids reacted to it & I've never used it since.

Edited

Absolutely this one. Expensive but is miraculously soothing and safe. Only one I can tolerate too.

Bobbieiris · 01/12/2025 13:17

Thanks everyone :) I might start off with Nivea creme but tempted to try cerave too

La Roche Posay - some products can be used on babies :)

roseymoira · 01/12/2025 18:53

I had the same when I was allergic to Liz Earle, I got a refund from Boots no problem.

I’ve since realised I’m allergic to most things and use La Roche Posay

Endofyear · 01/12/2025 18:59

I use E45 cream, most moisturisers irritate my skin.

Minesnotahighhorse · 01/12/2025 19:10

Another vote for La Roche Posay, specifically the Toleriane Riche moisturiser.

Scottie1310 · 01/12/2025 19:14

use Clinique all about eyes then on face Bondi Sands fragrance free sunscreen lotion 50+. Use this all year round. That’s the only thing I’ve been able to use on my face without it stinging

InTheClover · 01/12/2025 19:19

Elemis is great for sensitive skin, fantastic creams and serums. Clinique is good too, and cheaper. Also Clarins. La Roche Posay is also great, and Eau Thermale d’Avene.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 01/12/2025 19:20

I have VERY sensitive skin. I was told to avoid anything scented, or that contained lanolin. I know that my skin doesn't like Simple products, so I went hunting in all of the local toiletry shops!

I also try to use more 'natural' products to wash with.

Lauralou19 · 01/12/2025 19:31

Dry and oily skin here - I did use clinique and realised it was making my spots worse. Changed to Cerave oil control moisturiser and skin has improved so much. Can’t use No7 as its far too strong for my skin and makes the skin around my eyes feel sore/sting. MIL says the same about No 7 too.

Floisme · 01/12/2025 19:38

Wheatgerm oil from Holland and Barrett, or avocado oil from any grocery counter.
I’m 69 so they might be a bit much if you’re younger but they work for me.

Of over the counter moisturisers, the best for me are Aveno which I see you’ve tried, and bizarrely because it’s so perfumed, old school blue pot Nivea’s

Confessionsofa40yrold · 01/12/2025 19:41

I have terrible skin with rosacea and psoriasis. My skin consultant recommended the following which works great for me. They have others for different skin types.

Badslipperluck · 01/12/2025 19:42

I've tried and can't use cerave but am currently using and liking byoma

SoapCollector · 01/12/2025 19:56

Very sensitive skin here too OP! Simple and No7 creams made my eyes stream and caused the redness in my skin to look worse!

I find E45 cream none irritating to my eyes and skin (no stinging) but for me the moisturising effect doesn't last very long. I have dry and mature skin.

@Floisme do you use the oils for cleansing or moisturising? The aveeno that you mentioned is that the special face one in a pot or the standard aveeno in tubes?

Hope you find something to suit you op. When my skin can't tolerate much else I just use coconut oil! 😁

pizzaHeart · 01/12/2025 20:00

N7 changed their formula some time ago 😢
I use Aveeno calm and restore and Nives from blue tin for sore areas and flare ups.

SoapCollector · 01/12/2025 20:06

Endofyear · 01/12/2025 18:59

I use E45 cream, most moisturisers irritate my skin.

Please can I ask which cleanser do you use with the E45 cream?

Bobbieiris · 01/12/2025 20:15

Thank you ☺️ I managed to get a refund and just panic bought a big tin of Nivea! I used to use it and then stopped for some reason and forgot all about it. All great suggestions and @Confessionsofa40yrold that looks great!!
it’s so difficult with skin care and make up, I have my trusty old products and then the ingredients change and I have to switch
