I’ve recently discovered the Eve Lom cleanser and it’s all they say it is - my skin feels amazing after using it! It seems to be one of those products that everyone knows about l, except me of course because I’m not very up to date with these things.

What other hero products are there for skincare that I should know about?

I’d never suffered with dry skin at all in my life…..then we moved to a desert climate, and I morphed into a lizard, shedding my crispy skin almost overnight.
A local lady recommended E.L.F holy hydration moisturiser to me and said she’d spent so much money on more pricey alternatives but always came back to that one. I tried it and it was like a miracle in a jar 😍
I love it, and if it ever gets discontinued it’s going to be a whole catastrophe 😭

It’s said to be a dupe of Kiehl’s Ultra.

Onefortheroad25 · 15/11/2025 10:10

I’m loving Trilogy Rosehip oil. It’s made my skin look so much better. A little goes a long way.

Would love to know what people are using for vitamin C. I know the Elizabeth Arden capsules are supposed to be fab but they're £90 for 90 capsules which feels like a lot!

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 15/11/2025 10:11

I really love my Nivea hydro boost night cream, by the way

JunoJuliaBravo · 15/11/2025 10:13

Waitrose Pure cleansing milk. £2.50
Better than any of the pricy stuff- does the job and doesn't irritate my skin.

Ultrasun Face Lotion spf 50 - use very day under make up.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/11/2025 11:18

Estee lauder advanced night repair serum.
Nip and fab glycolic face scrub.
Dermalogica power multivitamin mask

How different is it from a Berrocca? Vitamin C is vitamin C? Or am i missing something?

CrepuscularCritter · 15/11/2025 12:51

I absolutely love this too. My skin feels soft and comfortable every day using it.

Drink loads, keep well hydrated
sleep - I do.

cut back / out refined sugar - I do.

anything with ceramides and glycerine in, perhaps hyralonic acid (though I find the other two more effective personally) - which products do you like?

I use cerave lotion - is this just a moisturiser? There are lots of ceravae products!

I also add an occlusive over the top at night; - what’s an occlusive??

the thing is, I think everyone is different. I don’t seem to find hyralonic acid as good as others seem to

I use this cerave lotion but I also pop it in a spare pot and mix some rose hip oil or extra pure glycerin into it (or do this on my palm before putting on my face.

you can layer with something like Vaseline on top at night time - I find that best around eyes.

I really like the vitamin c drops from beauty pie.

I also think what you eat can make a difference. I eat two table spoons of ground flax per day; that’s supposed to be good for skin and my optician said it was helpful for dry eyes. I eat oily fish/ take omega too. Eating lots of orange fruits and veg gives beta carotene (better to eat than take as a supplement)

I did start dermatica retinol recently; that has been quite drying so I’ve had to be so careful with what I use and how I moisturise. I didn’t start it till I’d got my skin balanced and hydrated tbh. I was using beauty pie aha pads once a week which seemed to also help a lot (have stopped for now.)

ooh good tip. Endlessly trying to find an alternative to beauty pie

Didn’t know that…..but that would explain it!!!

My introduction to skin care properly was someone giving me a gift of eve lom. I love it, I also like elemis, but I also make do with the ordinary's balm cleanser.

I love TO's glycolic acid, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid.

I also Elizabeth Arden 8 hr nighttime miracle balm.

Frenchcremefraiche · 15/11/2025 16:13

Foreo Supercharged night mask is beautiful. In fact, the Supercharged range is good. Spendy though.

This is vit C serum for the skin rather than an oral supplement

I love Elf Holy Hydration, cheap as chips and brilliant. I used to spend a fortune on Clinique moisturiser but I don't any more.

My other budget recommendations are Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara, Cerave foaming cleanser and Sephora eyeliners.

JunoJuliaBravo · 17/11/2025 12:38

I used to spend ££££ on Clinique face creams but switched to Olay Regenerist unperfumed and it's £12 ish online.

I also switched from Lancome Hypnose to Loreal Panasonic mascara and rate it higher- it doesn't flake by the end of the day, stays on longer , a tube lasts for ages, and gives good lash build up and separation for around £10 compared to £25.

Thanks to a tip here I also prefer a really cheap Loreal kohl eye liner (pencil) compared to Clinique and it was £3 compared to around £20.

Having said that I can't find a cheaper foundation or lipsticks in the shades I suit.

I also love E.L.F cleansing balm from the holy hydration range to take makeup off with - super silky and melts it all away. I follow that with a Cerave one for my second cleanse.

Love a bargain that actually works 😍

I did try that and liked it somewhat but the issue I have is that there is very hard water where I live and I don't like washing my face as even rinsing cleanser off dries it.

The Ordinary Gylcolic 7% toner and their Lactic Acid 10% alternating every other day

LRP Effaclar cleanser and toner

Drinking plenty of water and multivitamins
