What are your skincare hero products?

I’ve recently discovered the Eve Lom cleanser and it’s all they say it is - my skin feels amazing after using it! It seems to be one of those products that everyone knows about l, except me of course because I’m not very up to date with these things.

What other hero products are there for skincare that I should know about?

Just to add: this is obviously partly prompted by Black Friday sales starting already. I’m poised to leap onto any deals to try out some new products - so I’d love to hear of any deals you’ve seen on your favourite items!

The Sisley Velvet sleeping mask. I recently got it in the Liberty BD and I’m obsessed. It smells a bit like old ladies but (IMO) in a super comforting lovely way (old lady chic?)

It’s really spenny but I am so tempted to get a full size in the sales and treat myself. I wake up with the softest skin and I just really love it

evilharpy · 13/11/2025 10:20

Is that the foaming cleanser? If so I also love it - let me know if you've found any good Black Friday offers for it.

My favourite skincare product is azelaic acid from The Ordinary which is the only thing that really calms down my rosacea. Also like Ren Evercalm redness relief serum and Ren rinse off gel cleanser that smells like roses - the name escapes me. Gutted that Ren has gone :(

Lobelia123 · 13/11/2025 10:29

The Sisley Black Rose mask is divine. It smells amazing, fells gorgeous and gives you an instant glow. Love it!

Lobelia123 · 13/11/2025 10:32

I havent tried the Eve Lom cleanser, but I do love the Elemis cleansing balm - the texture and gentleness on your skin are so good and my skin looks good straight after cleansing and like its clean, but hasnt been stripped of all its natural oils and moisture.

TeenagersAngst · 13/11/2025 10:40

I love Paula's Choice products - I have some issues with rosacea and their targeted products are instantly calming and make my skin feel soft.

WarriorN · 13/11/2025 10:41

Beauty pie Japan cleanser

Purplecatshopaholic · 13/11/2025 10:43

Biossance vitamin C rose oil. Smells devine and really makes a difference. Most vit C products are too harsh for my sensitive skin, but I love this one.

evilharpy · 13/11/2025 16:28

Forgot Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser, is there anyone who doesn't like it?

WhatIsTheCharge · 13/11/2025 16:34

I’d never suffered with dry skin at all in my life…..then we moved to a desert climate, and I morphed into a lizard, shedding my crispy skin almost overnight.
A local lady recommended E.L.F holy hydration moisturiser to me and said she’d spent so much money on more pricey alternatives but always came back to that one. I tried it and it was like a miracle in a jar 😍
I love it, and if it ever gets discontinued it’s going to be a whole catastrophe 😭

What’s going to help the fine lines that are appearing on my face?!

UmberMoose · 14/11/2025 16:22

I have been using the La roche posay moisturiser and its good for dry skin. Here goes my routine if you would be interested:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Cicaplast
Evening:
LRP moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser has never been beaten for me.
For body skin care: Clarins firming body lotion.

That sounds gorgeous. Going on my Christmas wishlist.

Me. It smells a bit fusty to me. I preferred the Superdrug dupes. But not used either in ages.

What’s going to help the fine lines that are appearing on my face?!

Drink loads, keep well hydrated

sleep

cut back / out refined sugar

anything with ceramides and glycerine in, perhaps hyralonic acid (though I find the other two more effective personally)

I use cerave lotion but add a bit of extra glycerine or rose hip oil depending on what I feel it needs.

I also add an occlusive over the top at night; Vaseline usually, (my skin clearly is happy with it, not everyone’s does!)

I quite like dermatica ceramide cream too. Can get on Amazon

Retinol!

RegularNameSwitcher · 15/11/2025 07:35

This is interesting, I thought there might be more consensus on “must have” products but it seems it’s back to finding the ones that works personally for me, as many of you have.

That said, I have tried the Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser and it is lovely. Although now I’ve found the Eve Lom one I’m less in the market for a new one.

Thanksnfor the suggestions. I’ll definitely give some of them a try!

Retinol!

Thanks - is this the thing that you can’t go in the sun wearing? How does it work & which products do you like?

I use cerave lotion - is this just a moisturiser? There are lots of ceravae products!

Interesting. I hate it! It feels all sticky and gross on my face. Each to their own I guess.

Edited

You should use an SPF if you use retinol as it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun.

I honestly don’t have a recommendation as I’m still trying to work it all out, but it’s always highly recommended for ageing skin.

DarkRootsBlue · 15/11/2025 08:27

Skin1004, which is a moisturising oil. I had zero expectations from it, as it came from a beauty advent calendar last year. It has really calmed down my skin, which I guess had slight rosacea as my cheeks were a bit red and bumpy. It’s pretty cheap as well.
