Knee high boots

Bruisername · 27/10/2025 20:21

I am in the market for a pair of knee high boots with a heel. To wear with knee length dresses and longer dresses

i tries the boden pull on boots and the heel was good but my ankles are slim but my calves are not so much and they looked a bit wrong. And saggy round the ankle.

I was thinking these?www.johnlewis.com/geox-serilda-60-leather-knee-high-boots-black/p113775823?size=eu39

But not sure so was wondering if any of you shoe experts had any suggestions!!

Try Dune. I find them perfect legs that sound similar to yours. If there is an outlet shop near you the prices are better and they have a lot of stock atm (Mc Arthur Glenn York)

It’s not that I need wide calf boots - the boden ones fit perfect on the calf. The problem is the look because my ankles are skinnier - it made the boot look full at the top and saggy at the ankle!

I like the duo and fairfax&favor so will have a good browse

the dune ones are nice but the heels is a little low but will look there too.

Socks? Folded over to pad ankle!

Bruisername · 30/10/2025 19:03

I’ll have a look at dune

not a fan of the welly style either!!

really just want something comfortable enough for the commute but will look good with a dress and thick tights. And won’t make my legs look like weird triangles!!

If your budget permits Fairfax & Favor. Lovely range of boots, short, long, over the knee in different heel heights. If you pick a pair that have tassels, you can colour match/coordinate to your outfits. PS forgot to add.. different calf widths too!

EleanorMc67 · 31/10/2025 05:14

I think that anything that's fitted at your ankle will emphasise your calves too much - a straighter cut of boot won't do that? I've always had good luck with boots from Jigsaw & Whistles, & also Duo. Excellent quality & - with Jigsaw especially - comfortable from the first wear. I wait until sale time for reductions!! This kind of style?

They look a bit Welly

I like these - would the ankle detail mean the triangle look is avoided? Or just being a more structured boot than the boden

I tell you, we slim legged women are badly served in boots

I recently bought these, I have quite narrow ankles but wide feet and calves. The wide fit version fits well in the calves for me and they have a heel but not too high

i have something similar - agree that these from Dune are the best

EcruCardigan · 31/10/2025 10:06

@Bruisername , I don't like the F&F because of the detail.

minishiteboard · 31/10/2025 10:13

me neither

blobby10 · 31/10/2025 10:22

I have muscular/big calves but I'm also 5ft 9 (long legs short body) so any knee high boots always finish at the widest point of my calf and even 'wide calf' size don't fit properly. I've always avoided pull on ones as have visions of them falling down like Norah Batty's stockings but seeing the recommendations on here might try some.

Bruisername · 31/10/2025 10:25

Thanks - will keep looking.

maybe I should go for a heeled ankle boot instead of a knee high and that will even out the calf vs ankle

I’m the same height but short limbed! So definitely need the heel.

the boden pull on ones were a bit low on the leg for me so I wouldn’t try those if you are long limbed

@blobby10 I also have long legs (well mostly calf length) and found Long Tall Sally boots very good for this.

EcruCardigan · 31/10/2025 11:40

I'm quite chunky of calf (I'm much shorter than you), and have some boots that are probably mid-calf. My legs don't look chunky in them.
I don't like zips, but they are zipped, and I'm OK with that. I tend to wear them with skinny jeans, but could wear them with a dress.
Got lots of boots (lost count).

You mentioned Fly London, and comfort-wise I think they are great. Badi601fly | Womens | Fly London Shoes look smart.

JPMJuliz · 31/10/2025 12:11

@Bruisername - maybe bespoke made to measure boots would be more your thing then? I don't have any experience with the Boot Room, but I always keep them in mind as I really want a pair of tassled riding/Spanish style boots (similar to F&F), but F&F's calf width is not wide enough for my short and stopmy size 3 legs and feet 😑

I've got some blue suede boots. They're fun. People notice them. They are not bespoke.

EcruCardigan · 31/10/2025 12:16

@JPMJuliz , try Rydale. Not as smart as F&F.

I don’t think I’m disproportionate - but it’s the style that looked bad!!

I want something reasonably smart that I could wear to work

OP posts:
EcruCardigan · 31/10/2025 13:29

It's because they were stretch boots, @Bruisername .Your legs are probably fine.
I think you posted something that might have implied you were wide of calf, when you weren't saying that at all.
I don't like buckles - I get them caught on bags, but that's me. The Geox ones are OK but not wow.

How do you commute - walking, car or public transport?
I commute in trainers - driving wrecks shoes, walking to and from station wrecks shoes and can be hard on feet.

Whentostarthrt · 31/10/2025 13:33

Have you tried a pair of heel risers in the boots to help with the baggy ankle? I nearly always use them as I hate the saggy look and they do make a difference. I just buy cheap ones from Amazon.

AlphaApple · 31/10/2025 13:34

I bought a fabulous pair from Hobbs last year. Small heel, super comfortable.

Bruisername · 31/10/2025 13:41

Yes agree the pull on ones were all wrong

commute is 10 min walk plus tubes so not onerous. Normally wear trainers but would prefer not to carry boots!!

I think I need to venture into the great outdoors and try a load on but thank you all for the tips!!
