Wide feet people, where do you find stylish shoes/ankle boots that are comfortable?

I’m particularly looking for some loafers, and some ankle boots with a side zip. Every pair I put my feet in just feel uncomfortably tight. I need plenty of space for my toes too! Any suggestions gratefully received, thank you.

Have you tried M and S? I think their boots are quite wide fitting,?

Dr Marten

Hotter! I’m turning into my MIL, but their shoes are just sooooo comfortable.
Wide feet, high instep, a dainty size 9.

Zooeymither · 27/10/2025 19:59

I’ll qualify that by saying only about 5% of their styles could be classed as stylish. But seek out that elusive 5% and you won’t regret it.

Gabor (at John Lewis/Charles Clinkard), Dr Martens. Clarks used to be a good bet, but I feel like they have fewer E fit styles than they used to.

Moshulu

I've always found m&s wide fit shoes and boots really comfortable. Pavers can also be good and Moshulu (although had issues with zip jamming on last set from there)

Yep, I have hotter boots in three different colours. I would love to branch out to some different styles, but it's always depressing trying on a million uncomfortable pairs from elsewhere.

Vagabond have quite wide sizes. I have also got Russell & Bromley boots that fit. I find boots much easier than shoes in this respect. I usually size up a half size.

Lollygaggle · 27/10/2025 20:13

Second pavers , not hotters as even their wide fit is not wide enough , heavenly feet are reasonably priced and have lasted for me https://www.heavenlyfeet.co.uk/search?options%5Bprefix%5D=last&page=3&q=boots

I've worn a pair of Hotter murmur boots to death over the past year. Very comfortable but sizing is a bit off so be prepared to try on / send back.

ItsNotYou852 · 27/10/2025 20:14

Shoe Tailor and Clarks both used to be good, but I think Shoe Tailor have closed and Clarks do a much smaller range now. Mostly granny type shoes now in E or EEE.
Have tried some boots from Pavers but they weren't quite wide enough for me, had to return.
I feel your pain trying to find decent shoes in wider styles. I don't think you can buy online, well for me at least it's essential to try on.

greenmarsupial · 27/10/2025 20:16

I’m noting the recommendations here but also adding that I have taken to buying men’s wide fit to get a wide enough toe box.

JDM625 · 27/10/2025 20:22

I have sometimes found them at M&S or Clarks.

The issue I have with pavers is that their wide fit are randomly placed all over the shop, not in a specific section. I therefore need to sift through every shoe and check the label if its wide fit.

I 'think' M&S instore might be similar, but I recall their labels being clearer and now I know how they fit, I can order my size online.

Iamafaithfull · 27/10/2025 20:35

As others have said I have got some boots in the past from M& S wide fit . Can sometimes be hit or miss though .
i find if I go up a 1/2 side or a size I can sometimes fit into the larger size and can use thicker socks / or an insole .
I also find that sone lace up boots can be a bit more forgiving if you don’t tighten them too much .
I gave up long ago of trying to find wide fit knee length boots that I liked .
I have also had fly boots in the past from. If you can get to a shoe shop rather than ordering online you can try on different styles for fit .

I can second Gabor. I have a pair of chunky loafers for work from there. They're really smart and the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. Even more comfy than my favourite trainers.
